Liquid Float

I'm going to try going to a Liquid Float center in about 2 hours. It's supposed to have positive benefits for aches and pains. My back pain and costochondritis have gotten out of control so I'm desperate. Anyone ever try going to a Liquid Float center while preggo?

  • @courtjack, I did too.

  • Me three! I can't get ice cream out of my head!
  • Yea! I went to a spa i had a gift card to that does the flotation tanks back in January and I'm going again next week. From my understanding, some people love it and some people hate it - it kind of depends how good you are at shutting your brain off for an hour. I was totally asleep by the time they came and knocked on my tank. Enjoy it!!
  • I've been thinking about ice cream since yesterday and I thought this was an omen that I am meant to get ice cream. Still taking it as such.

    There's a 90% chance I'm having one after dinner tonight. When I say 90% I completely mean 100%
  • I totally thought it was going to be about a drink too.

  • This reminded me that I'm eating ice cream for dinner tonight.

Also, I think I'd be terrified if I had to lie in a tank for an hour.

  • I've heard from a few woman who went while pregnant and hated it, but I'd be curious to try anyway.

also I want a root beer float.
  • Yes! I go and love it. Both for physical and mental relaxation.

I would go tired or after exercise if possible. That way 90 min of relaxation and silence is golden.

Some places also can play audio from your iPhone so you could put a book on or an album you really like.

Personally I prefer silence and the best sleep :)

Let us know what you think!!
  • Ps - I also may need to stop at AW tonight lol
  • I would love to do something like that. And I want a ginger ale sherbet float.

I did think this post was going to be a lot some sort of milk shake or ice cream drink though. So I'm disappointed.

What??? That's a thing? I have rainbow sherbet and ginger ale at the house. This could be dangerous. Thank you!!
  • A) the saltwater bath looks amaze balls!
B.) I'm in desperate need of a root beer float
  • I have never tried this before, but all I can think of is the Simpsons:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oFM1SiXgr8A
  • I did it for the first time today and loved it! My tank wasn't like that picture, it was like a big 8' tall cube. They played music for the first 15 min and the last 5 minutes and had the option of underwater lights, "starlight"in the ceiling or pitch black. I went for pitch black and ended up falling asleep. I feel so rejuvenated and calm and relaxed and my feet and hips don't ache like they were. I can't wait to do it again.
  • That looks SO STINKIN' COOL! But I think my fear of drowning would kick in and I'd freak out.
  • @HBamama2B exactly what I was going to say!! We have an awesome drive in that just opened and has TONS of float options! Thanks to this post I will be forcing H to take DS and I there tomorrow for lunch!  ;)
  • Lol... An ice cream float sounds delicious though!

I did mean the salt bath though. It's basically a pod with enough salt to make you float. I did it today and it was amazing! My back feels so much better today. They gave me the option to play music but I decided to go for total silence for 60 minutes. After I finally shut off my brain, I fell asleep!

    1) does this look scary to anyone else? They close you in there?!?
    2) This also makes me think of the pods they use in the movie interstellar to hibernate while they're traveling across space. Of course I just re-watched that 5 days ago so it's on the brain.
  • I totally thought it was going to be about a drink too.

    Freudian slip?!
Hahaha! I must just always be thinking about food ;)

    Love the gif!

    1) So the place I went to, I had my own room. I was able to keep the pod open or closed, but I went with it closed. It's really spacious inside!
    2) Totally looks like a hibernation pod!
  • Yea, my place has a sliding door on the top of the pod so if you get claustrophobic, you can leave it cracked for a little bit of light. It was actually pretty spacious. The water in mine was only about a foot deep - my giant butt hit the bottom a few times, but I definitely felt relaxed afterwards.
  • I want to try that!! I think I may freak if I was closed inside tho.  I also really really want a root beer float now. I told H I want to go to Red Robin to get one (they have endless refills mmmmmm)
