Hot tub rule

So I know you aren't suppose to get in a hot tub when you are pregnant because it raises your body temp too high but just wondered if anyone knew if this was like, from the moment you conceived? I mean does it apply when the baby is the size of a poppy seed?
We are in Seattle this weekend with my family and will be hanging out around the hotel pool a lot and wanted to stay safe but also didn't want to skip out on the hot tub if I didn't have to. ;)

    I probably would skip it or stick my legs in for a few minutes. But I am not a doctor.

    "Spending 10 minutes or more in a hot tub can raise your body temperature to 102 F (38.9 C), causing a condition known as hyperthermia. Studies have shown an increased risk of neural tube defects — serious abnormalities of the brain or spinal cord — in the babies of women who experience high temperatures during the first four to six weeks of pregnancy. Some studies also suggest that hyperthermia during pregnancy increases the risk of other birth defects and miscarriage, but further research is needed." (from the Mayo Clinic)

    I used to put my legs in. The issue with hot tubs is your whole body is submerged practically, so it can't cool itself down. If you keep the majority of your body out you should be fine, aka legs.

    I know the rule for regular tubs is as long as you're not sweating, feeling hot, or your skin turning red. So just try to incorporate that, and have a good time! Legs only sounds like a good plan.

    I'm doing the same thing this weekend. We are going away to the mountains for a friend's 30th and the resort has an amazing outdoor hot tub. I plan on just wearing yoga pants and sticking my feet in since I'm the only one in our group of 20 who can't go in!
