This is what I assumed, too. Maybe she wanted to talk to family about it, but didn't want to spill the beans.

My husband was laid off last week, and his (former) job is trying to get him to sign something stating he will not collect unemployment, and will instead receive a 3 week severance.
Luckily he was smart enough NOT to sign it, but seriously I don't think that is even legal. We have it in writing from the owner he was "let go due to financial circumstances, not respective of performance" so I am not worried about the jerks contesting his unemployment. If they try? Bring it.
My previous employer did that to everyone they let go (only they weren't as generous to give a 3 week severance package). They would contest every person that would file for unemployment. Sometimes even sue them in response to the request for unemployment claiming they broke part of the contract. Or, they would give terrible options (demote or ask employees to take a pay cut even if they were great at their job) or punish them to the point where they would quit so the company didn't have to pay unemployment. Essentially bullying people out of their jobs. It was sad. I worked in the corporate office and saw it happen to so many people.

My networking group meets every Monday for lunch. I am one of the youngest in the group and the group is also 80% male so being pregnant stands out. I JUST started showing (and even that is only obvious if you know me) and another member (A MAN) POKED me in the stomach, like pointing out there was a bump. Not hard or anything, and I wasn't even mad at first... but then the more I thought about it.... WHAT THE HELL THAT IS SO RUDE AND INAPPROPRIATE!!!
