@tulips My Follistim also came with a hard case that I could fit needles and vials into. Don't let yourself get overwhelmed. At the end you'll wonder why you ever stressed! Once you find your rhythm it's easy.

@xFeelingalive13x Probably just shifting your timing that hour is fine. So if you were 6 and 6, then just go to 7 and 7. My doc wanted us to stay as close to consistent timing as possible so the meds stay in your system and react the way they want them to. They may ask you to shift ahead an hour to make it up (so going to 5 and 5.) I wasn't on Lupron though, so that may be different.

@Rachnan Retrieval was OK. We got four eggs only two of which fertilized. We ended up doing a 2 day transfer today of two 4 cell embryos. I'm choosing to be positive at this point and am trying to keep my mind off of it by watching really bad TV. I started the IM progesterone shots last night and was surprised that they don't seem to hurt as much as last time! I hope everyone else is doing well!

@tulips29 don't worry, you probably had the antagonist protocol (using gonal-f) instead of the agonist protocol (Follistim). It depends on your history and what your RE thinks is the best protocol for YOU.
received update from nurse...Labs look good today. My estradiol increased from 120 to 394 since Monday, and my uterus lining is measuring 9mm. They want it to be at least 8mm at embryo transfer. I will continue my meds as they are til I go back for more labs & u/s on Friday. By then we will have a better idea if my retrieval will be Monday or Tuesday. Overall, they said everything is moving along how it should be. I'm feeling better now.

Gonal F and Follistim are basically the same thing. Your clinic or insurance may have a deal with one or the other which is why some get one and not the other.

So I called my ivf nurse today and I start birth control Friday night. She also ordered me and my husband the zpack and I'm also doing a hysteroscopy they will be setting me up for that soon. Also my bloodwork to make sure me and my husband aren't hiv positive or have hep b or c. I don't understand the zpack for him though can anyone explain?
@ultratomato very common. My DH and I are both on doxycycline. It's basically a prophylactic antibiotic so that you stay well. Since you are close with DH, they put him on it too.

I am new to all of this. We just got our calendar! I am on BCP right not but I won't start stims until the 20th of April. My doctor apparently doesn't do fresh cycles, only FET. I had never heard that before. Has anyone else heard of a doctor that is like that? I am a little sad about that because it will push the timeline back a bit. Any thoughts?

@Kerami1 I have not heard of a doc that won't do fresh at all, but it does not surprise me. The success rates are higher with FETs vs Fresh because your body is often hyper-stimmed after the ER, and therefore a somewhat hostile environment for an embryo. Not to mention if you are hyper-stimmed, and then you get pregnant, your estrogen would go through the roof which is dangerous for you as well. It's hard to wait but it is worth it. @halipsLOL. That's too funny. I imagine it is prolly a similar feeling for sure. Boy do I notice a difference if I walk/do too much housework. Even emptying the dishwasher is a chore. Ugh! poor DH. Learning to do everything with time, I usually a go getter, but not while stimming. I'm a turtle. Wow 33 retrieved, I can only imagine how uncomfortable that would have been by the end. woowsers!

Wow this board exploded today! It sounds like a lot of you are moving forward with meds - so exciting. Please don't be overwhelmed, if you go into it confidently it is so easy! Organize your self and print out some calendars with meds and times for each, that was really helpful. Also I had cheat sheets from the dr that had step-by- step instructions for each Med, ask about that!
AFM: we have 13 frozen embabies!! The nurse that I talked to today was not clear as to whether or not they had been pgd tested yet. I go in on Monday to get "the Lupron administered". I was very clear and understood everything leading Up to the retrieval - I feel clueless in regards to what is involved with the transfer.

@Kerami1 your doctor may feel more comfortable doing FET vs fresh bc of higher success rates like @dragonfaerie said. It may have to do with all the meds your put on for the ER and allowing to give your body a chance to recoup???

Looks like all the ladies are progressing with their treatment! Hope everything continues to go smoothly!
AFM, had an ultrasound this morning; been on 150iu of Follistim, 75iu of menopur, and 5 units of Lupron for the last 4 days. My RE says everything looks good and it looks like I have at least 9 follicles on each side with the largest on each side at about 9-9.5mm. Have another appointment on Saturday so hopefully everything can continue to progress smoothly!

@Rachnan Definitely! I sat on my heating pad for two days after my ER. Enjoy the rest and relaxation.
AFM: I had another acupuncture appointment yesterday (my 4th) but I decided to call it quits. My insurance doesn't cover as much as we thought, so it's $40 a visit. I know that's not terrible, but I felt like I was stressing more about the money than it could help with my anxiety. I'm going to try to do yoga on my own at least once a week, and spend time meditating and just taking care of myself.

@ultratomato I took 500mg of ibuprofen before the appointment. I'm still a little sore today (appt was Monday) but it's nothing overly painful, not even like bad PMS cramps.

Kerami1 - my nurse was telling me about a dr in Colorado that requires all of his patients to have PGS so he only does FET. A few others mentioned it but success rates go from like 51% up to 63% with FET and you do give your body a rest. I wouldn't have been able to do a fresh cycle even if I had wanted to b/c I had OHSS after my retrieval and my ovaries were too swollen.
@dragonfaerie - I'm with you on the acupuncture. I'm still not totally sold on it and I don't really notice a difference but apparently it can help with nausea when in your first trimester. So far it's being covered so I'm going to continue going but only b/c they say it can help with implantation.Anything that could increase the odds I'll try but I'm all about finding other ways to de-stress too! If something that is supposed to help with stress is actually making it worse, definitely take it out!

Oh my goodness I'm so behind! I was out of commission after my lasik (PRK) surgery last Thursday and being on a computer for more than work is getting more bearable so decided to check in. It looks like so many of you are blazing forward! I will try and catch up more over the weekend with what everyone has going on!
I have my MRI this weekend and will go over the results next Wednesday to determine what the next steps are (another hysteroscopy or able to jump back into IVF) so nothing really going on with me.

@tulips29 don't worry, you probably had the antagonist protocol (using gonal-f) instead of the agonist protocol (Follistim). It depends on your history and what your RE thinks is the best protocol for YOU.
received update from nurse...Labs look good today. My estradiol increased from 120 to 394 since Monday, and my uterus lining is measuring 9mm. They want it to be at least 8mm at embryo transfer. I will continue my meds as they are til I go back for more labs & u/s on Friday. By then we will have a better idea if my retrieval will be Monday or Tuesday. Overall, they said everything is moving along how it should be. I'm feeling better now.

Tulips29 - I was overwhelmed in my fresh cycle with all of the meds/timing. I taped the calendar of meds to the mirror and used a Sharpie to cross-off each item. It helped reassure me to not make a mistake. I have it taped up there this time, but haven't felt the need to do the cross-off b/c the protocol is so much less for the FET. I do, however, check regularly to ensure I change dosage properly. I go to a Sher clinic, and the main nurse (Nurse Linda) has videos posted on their main website for each injection. My husband and I thought it was a great resource.
@ssbrm - We love Married At First Sight too. I'm waiting for my husband to get off of the phone so we can watch last night's episode
AFM: we have 13 frozen embabies!! The nurse that I talked to today was not clear as to whether or not they had been pgd tested yet. I go in on Monday to get "the Lupron administered". I was very clear and understood everything leading Up to the retrieval - I feel clueless in regards to what is involved with the transfer.

AFM, had an ultrasound this morning; been on 150iu of Follistim, 75iu of menopur, and 5 units of Lupron for the last 4 days. My RE says everything looks good and it looks like I have at least 9 follicles on each side with the largest on each side at about 9-9.5mm. Have another appointment on Saturday so hopefully everything can continue to progress smoothly!

AFM: I had another acupuncture appointment yesterday (my 4th) but I decided to call it quits. My insurance doesn't cover as much as we thought, so it's $40 a visit. I know that's not terrible, but I felt like I was stressing more about the money than it could help with my anxiety. I'm going to try to do yoga on my own at least once a week, and spend time meditating and just taking care of myself.

ER: February 17, 2016; 9 retrieved, 7 mature, 7 fertilized
Day 5 Blastocysts: 5 BB, 1 AB, all normal from PGS
FET date: May 11, '16; transferred 1 AB embryo
First beta: May 23, '16: 998!! Second: May 25, '16: 1648
EDD: January 27, 2017
Oh my goodness I'm so behind! I was out of commission after my lasik (PRK) surgery last Thursday and being on a computer for more than work is getting more bearable so decided to check in. It looks like so many of you are blazing forward! I will try and catch up more over the weekend with what everyone has going on!
I have my MRI this weekend and will go over the results next Wednesday to determine what the next steps are (another hysteroscopy or able to jump back into IVF) so nothing really going on with me.
@dragonfaerie I will keep an eye out for the May thread b/c that is where I will end up!
