May 2016 Moms

TTT

Happy Tuesday! Are the weeks rolling by, or is it just me?!

Three things today:
1. I can't eat enough to be satisfied, and definitely can't sleep enough to be satisfied. Baby growth spurt I think.

2. I think I mentioned this last week, but I found these awesome chairs on Craigslist to go with my kitchen table. 6 for $80! I started sanding them down and will refinish the upholstery and stain. I'll post a side by side when they're done if I can remember.

3. I have an Ob appt tomorrow and I know that I'll be getting my Rhogam shot. Ouch! This also means that I'm in the homestretch which makes me very, very happy! :)

  • **a few questions**

@ncm0328  I would get super crampy after I ate a PB&J sandwich. Of course I start to freak out and wonder if LO is allergic to peanuts. Is that even possible to be allergic in the womb? Thankfully, I stopped cramping  after a while.

    1. I am getting my rhogam shot today. If given the choice is it better to get in in the arm or the hip?

    2. Tonight we our having our OB tour. Im really excited to see the rooms. It is a wonderful hospital with its own maternity building. Each birthing room has a  tub that I fully plan to take advantage of. I think there was a separate thread for hospital tour questions but I can't find it. Can someone link it for me?

    3. My MIL has yet to set the date for my shower. Its pretty much set for April 9th, but she has to make sure nothing else is set for that date. I talked to her about this a month ago and every time it is brought up, even with DH, her answer is "Yeah, I need to look into that"

    4. Baby moon in 4 days. Looking forward to relaxing by the beach with friends.

I was always given Rhogam in the butt cheek. It's injected into the muscle, so I would think the arm would be extra sore if that's where it's injected. I would suggest the hip or the butt.
  • Random question for you ladies in the US - when you start going for your meetings every two weeks instead of monthly, does your price per appointment drop?

Most (around me anyway) insurance plans cover all maternity appointments at 100% after an initial copay at the first appointment. You still pay out of pocket sometimes for ultrasounds or other speciality appointments if insurance doesn't cover it or you haven't met your deductible.

  • @TXmamatobe We call it potato bake but now I seriously want potatoes au gratin. Yum!
  • @pooputtette I got my shot in the arm. It hurt for a day and a half, but I'm a total wimp. I would think a sore arm would be better than a sore leg though

    1. This little boy is starting to show off.. People can now see him moving around outside my belly. It's so weird.

    2. I think I can say that I don't have a belly button anymore. it hasn't popped out or gotten flat; it's just closed.

    3. I just met my health insurance deductible, but guess when my new insurance year starts? April 1.

    4. I was trying to get ready for work early so that I could get breakfast from Chick-fil-a. Didn't happen, so I may go get it for lunch.

    5. I'm going to talk to my boss either this week or next week about the possibility of me working from home one day a week after maternity leave. I have no idea what she'll say.. Here's hoping for a yes!

    6. The baby bedding I ordered from Etsy won't be in for a few more weeks, but that doesn't stop me from checking if it's shipped every single day.

    7. DH's cousin is pregnant with # 3, and she posted a link to her registry on Facebook yesterday "in case anyone wanted it." She has two $550+ strollers on there. I'm side-eyeing pretty hard, especially considering her older kids are 2 and almost 3, so it's not like there's a big age gap. ETA: I know people create registries for the discount, but she's posted multiples times about "We need x, y, and z for the new baby."
Ouch on the deductible and good luck on the talk with the boss! Mine went much better than expected!
  • @bshurdy I don't blame you...people who create registries for the discount don't typically post a link to them in social media just in case ;)

@kp90 I originally planned to work until my due date, but now I'm leaving at 39 weeks.  I made the decision based on a)how progressively crappy I feel ;), b)my assessment that I'd be able to get done everything I need to get done in the office by that time so I don't overload anyone else with work, c)the fact that my company forces me to use PTO for the 1st week of leave so it will be paid at 100%, and then I have short term disability and leave time available for the duration of my leave (15 weeks total).  So...health assessment, workload assessment, financial assessment is how I made my decision.  Hope that helps.
  • @Jenly17 If it's nice enough out and I have enough time to go to the beach, then I'd usually rather be on the boat instead. That's why I don't go to the beach much. But every once in a while, I need some sun and sand! If I can motivate my pregnant ass to drag a bag and chair out there on Saturday, I'm definitely going!

    1. DH is at a conference for work all week, and I really miss him. He travels for work occasionally, and him being gone doesn't usually bother me, but I've been so clingy lately. It's really out of character for me, and I don't like it! @ncm0328 Major props to you and all military spouses. I'd be a mess if I knew DH was going to be gone that long!
    2. On the bright side, I have been able to get more done without DH around. When I got home from work last night, I washed all the baby clothes we got at our baby shower a couple of weeks ago (with the exception of a few duplicates I plan to exchange). I just don't know what to hang and what to fold in drawers??? I think this hang vs. fold issue was discussed in a thread recently, but I can't find it.
    3. I brought blank cards and my shower gift list to work with me today so I can work on thank you cards on my lunch break. It's so time consuming because we got some really thoughtful gifts, and I don't want to just send a generic thank you card.
    4. Our shower in my hometown is a week from Saturday, and I haven't even finished unpacking from the last one! Please tell me I'm not the only person who leaves suitcases in her bedroom floor for weeks after a trip before unpacking them!
    5. I went through a car wash 2 days ago, and my car is already yellow again. And I can barely breathe when I walk outside. Damn pollen!
    6. One of our paralegals at work is due about 3 weeks before me. I'm so jealous because I'm so over this already!
    7. My best friend's wedding is a week from Friday, and I'm so upset that I can't go. It's a destination wedding that's a 6+ hour plane ride away, so I decided not to go (she totally understands), but the closer it gets the worse I feel about not going. Her sister is going to Skype me in, but it won't be the same as being there. I feel like an awful friend! :'(
    8. The other reason I feel so lousy about not going to the wedding is that I haven't seen my other close friend (who will be there) since Christmas, and she just got a really bad medical diagnosis. Since I'll have newborn in a couple of months, I doubt I'll get to catch up with her in person for a while.
    9. I live less than 10 away from the beach, and I never go to there (seriously, I think it's been about a year since I've gone!). I just want to lay out, relax, and get some sun. I think I'm going to go this weekend.
    10. It's taken me 2+ hours to write this because I keep getting interrupted...and my life is apparently really boring these days!
DH went out of town back in October and the suitcase is still on the floor with a few shirts in it. Don't feel so bad.
We live 10 minutes from the dog beach and are there all the time . You should go and enjoy.
  • @kp90 I'm planning to work right up until the end, but my bosses are super flexible, plus I can work from home in those final days/weeks. I guess it all depends on your company's policies and what your boss is ok with.
  • 1. I slipped and slid down my stairs on Saturday, both me and baby girl are ok, but holy crap my butt hurts. I also have a very impressive bruise on one of my butt cheeks.
    2. Little girl has been MORE active since my slip and slide. Which is both awesome and weird- but my Dr. said it's nothing to worry about.
    3. I have decided that for the time being I hate stairs-mostly because I get out of breath WAY easy.
    4. I'm still going through an obsession with puzzles
    5. I'm also going through an obsession with shelves- we need more shelves at our house.... and we don't have the money to buy them
    6. WHY AM I OUT OF BREATH JUST SITTING DOWN??
    7. It's going to be 76 degrees today, and of course this is my day to work 12-9 because of a program. I'm missing all the lovely weather and I can't open my office windows- not that I would because there is a wasp nest right outside but still
    8. Yesterday I did ALL the laundry. I stopped short of taking the cushion covers off of the sofa to wash them.
    9. Pregnancy cravings don't care about food allergies and it's annoying me. Luckily mine is minor enough I can take pepto and mostly be ok.
    10. Sleep?

Agreed. @kp90 Have you discussed your leave dates with your supervisor yet? Some companies want an exact leave and return date, and some are more flexible. When I discussed mine with my boss a few months ago, he said to just let him know when it started getting too uncomfortable for me to come into the office. At that point, I can start working from home until I'm ready for my actual maternity leave, and I can work from home or the office part-time or full-time (or a combination of both) for as long as I need to after. I'm planning to work from home right up until I deliver so I can have as much time on maternity leave as possible after my LO gets here. For now, I'm still coming into the office and will probably continue doing so until the end of April or beginning of May (I'm not due until the end of May), unless I start getting too uncomfortable. I must have been waddling the yesterday because my boss told me that if I'm ready to start working from home, I can. I was like, "You do realize that I still have almost 3 months left to go, right!?" LOL If you have to give them a firm leave date, just make sure it's early enough that you're not miserable trying to stick it out the last few weeks. Also, if you have the ability to work from home, you may be able to keep working until close to your due date and get more time off with your LO.

Thank you. @swfljd I don't have the option to work from home. I'm one of two nurses here in our clinic so I'm on my feet and up and down a lot. Which is what leads me to believe in the next 6 weeks or so I will feel like tapping out. My boss knows I planned on working til my due date but my FMLA was approved for 12 weeks so if need be I could start it early and just let him know once I make up my mind. Just wish I knew how I'd feel closer to May.
  • Completely random but @swfljd  I like your profile pic doggie!

Mine was my DH and I, but I got a new phone and now it looks like it is an elephant? Is that just how mine is showing or do y'all see a different pic?

Mine shows up as a dog? It's supposed to be a pic of my sailboat. Weird. Yours doesn't look like an elephant on my screen. It looks like a pic of you and your H.

  • 3. My mom got us a 6 month diaper subscription. What a great gift!!
From where?? How does that work with sizing?

    5. My 8 year old is blaming her farts on her unborn sister. Life with 2 girls will be interesting but I can't wait!
My 37 year old husband does the same thing...

@Aquinna82 She said from Target. We won't start it until after our current stash of diapers is gone. She said you sign in and select the sizes you want for that month. Sounds like it's one shipment per month.

haha usually my husband blames the dog!
  • 1. Had my 3 hour glucose test bright and early at 8 this morning. I didn't like the drink as much this time. :|
    2. I should have my results Thursday, good or bad... They call either way. Trying not to worry until then.
    3. I really don't want to find a new doctor at 31 weeks so I really hope I pass. If I don't the midwife practice considers me high risk and can't see me anymore. :(
    4. While I was waiting during my test I got to see a less than day old baby. One was born at the birthing center last night. It made me really excited for things to come. :)
    5. I'm really glad I took the whole day off bc while I felt fine when I was done, I'm now about to pass out. Nap timeee.
    6. A new burger place opened by us yesterday and I used my test today and the fasting as an excuse to get DH to stop there on the way home so I could try their veggie burger. It was worth it.
    7. Working from home tomorrow, class tomorrow night, lab results Thursday day, and pediatrician meet and greet Thursday night. Busy next few days.
    8. Trying to find a top for the shower I'm not supposed to know about is proving more difficult than I thought. I can't find anything that I 'love'.
    9. DH ended up winning about $175 on the lottery. I got mad at him the day before for buying the ticket so he said I get nothing and it all goes to the baby now. Lol.
    10. Nap time for real now. So tired.
  • 1. I volunteered to be an assistant track coach. Practice started yesterday, I will run high jump practices twice a week. I'm not sure why I decided this would be a good idea but it's a little late to back out now
    2. My not so great Sunday curling team made it to the championship game???? Unfortunately we have to play DH's team and I have never beaten him
    3. Baby classes at the hospital start this week! Dr says she thinks they show birth videos the first day, way to welcome everyone to class  :#

Ok it changed back. Must have been a bump glitch on my phone!

    1.  Our tax return came!  Unfortunately we can't go to the bank tonight because DH decided to go to the gym, so now we have to wait until Friday because I work until 8 the next two nights.

    2.  I also got something in the mail about Medicaid from AARP?

    3.  DH finally and begrudgingly agreed with me to go to the childbirth and labor classes.

    4.  Our christmas stockings are still up.

    5.  Absolutely nothing has been done to the baby's room.  It's still entirely DH's game room, and it is freaking me out.

    6.  DH does not seem to understand how difficult pregnancy can make it to just move around, or why I'm more tired.

    7.  I'm probably more involved in planning my baby shower than would be considered proper... part of this is my mom is a wee bit of technophobe.  She only uses a computer at work and she doesn't own a cell phone.  Basically, I'm being charged at this point with printing out invitations and collecting the RSVPs (my parents don't have an answering machine for their landline, either).

    8.  When I got home from work I kind of wanted waffles... then I decided that putting a frozen waffle in the toaster was too much work so I had Doritos instead.

    9.  I checked out prenatal yoga DVDs from the library, but I am probably going to return them unwatched.  Again.

    10.  I want a nap, but it's MIL's birthday today so we have to go over there for a bit - despite having gone to lunch with them on Sunday in celebration, and then spending an additional six hours at their house afterwards.
    Anniversary

    Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
    1. OB appointment today! I finally get my results from my 1 hour glucose test . . . Keeping fingers crossed!
    2. I get a little surprise every time I post and see my ticker sig tell me how many days left . . . Its frightening.
    3. I'm feeling a little more gear prepared this week. Thanks ladies who helped me narrow the list of what I thought was needed to actual needed items.
    4. Lately I keep bumping the bump into stuff like the bathroom sink and the kitchen counter. Baby kicks in protest nearly every time. I think she is getting crammed in there.
    5. I wish people would stop asking about the name. I think family members expect me to name her after my mom. When I say we have a name chosen but we are saving it for the birth they reply with "Well you can tell me, I wont say anything to anyone."  Really I am just superstitious and feel like I am "jinxing it" if I start telling everyone even though I don't know what "It" is that I would jinx. . .
    6. NOSE BLEEDS!  wtf! i already have sinus issues but the nose bleeds are in full force these last few weeks. Go away! It's embarrassing!
    7. Going to the movies soon to see the Superman/Batman movie with MH and his youngest son.  We go to the movies with him about once a month or every two months and we typically see hero movies or Sci-Fi movies with him. We started this when I first moved here and the son was 12. He is 17 now. Now I am not saying I don't want to keep this going but I feel like 1) he might be getting to the age where he is embarrassed to go to the movies with his dad and dad's wife and 2) he might be even more embarrassed to be seen with a huge pregnant lady.  I really don't know. He doesn't share his feeling well.
    8. In my post about MH being an ass I saw several ladies mention they had husbands reasonably older than they are. My first thought was "Wow we have a lot of Silver Fox lovers around here!" then I realized that these other husbands probably aren't silver foxes at all . . . I think I am older than most of the ladies here which would make MH much older than the husbands . . . I feel like an old fat lady now instead of just a pregnant lady :(

    I don't have 10 things today . . . ETT for me instead  :P
