Infertility

Check in (Loss and child mentioned)

I had the HSG last week and it showed that all is well. So now we have had blood work, semen analysis and the HSG all showing normal ranges. We have our first appt with an RE on Wednesday. I O either today or tomorrow so we have been trying again this cycle. I'm curious to see what the RE has to say. Right now we are leaning towards trying IUI as soon as possible. Is it unrealistic to think that we can attempt IUI next cycle if I'm not preg?
We want to try this route first because we know I can get pregnant (we have a 3 yr old and I had a MC last June)
Any advice before I go see the RE?

Re: Check in (Loss and child mentioned)

  • Hi @stuuuaart and welcome.
When I started my IUI and had my bloodwork done and my talk to the RE they said, we are ready when you are!
So I could have started 4 days after when my cycle started.
I didn't as I had a trip planned that month, so timing was wrong, but I could have.

Not sure of course how it works overseas, but I don't think it is unrealistic.
GL on your journey. I'll be keeping my FX for you.

  • After all of my testing was done, we started the next cycle. It sounds like you guys are good to go after your RE appointment. You don't really need any advice right now. They'll just explain their IUI protocol (mine is baseline US and blood work on day 3 - call received later that night with the ok to start meds, clomid days 5-9, follie check and blood work on day 12 - call that night to tell you when to trigger, then trigger that day for IUI the next day or two days later - this would depend on your response to the meds but I have always had mature eggs at my follie check). Just so you know what to expect with a cycle, although some protocols are slightly different. Good luck at your appointment. And fx you're already pregnant and don't even need the IUI

  • @Stuuuaaart I agree with @NurseTMD85. That's exactly what my doctor does. After I had my initial consultation, we were just waiting on my insurance (I had just gotten a new job that provided infertility coverage) and as soon as that was ready, I was good to go. Good luck!!
