For those who had planned c-sections...

So, this is my second c-section, but with my first it was not planned.  I had posted a while back if folks had planned on getting ready (hair, makuep) for their sections.  Most responded that they did.  However, my doc just told me no cosmetics for the surgery.  Did you follow this rule?  Were you warned?  Thanks!

    Probably for the same reason that you aren't supposed to wear nail polish when going in for surgery to...So they can monitor the color in your face and nails....

    This will be my 2nd C-section - first one unplanned.  I had not thought of hair & make-up - I only figured I would get up early enough to take an nice long hot shower before we went to the hospital.  Once I know the date I will probably go the week before and get my hair trimmed.

     I had thought about a pedicure in the couple of weeks before but had not thought about they may not want polish on any of my nails.

    I guess I felt so terrible after the first one that my appearance was the furtherest thing from my mind but if I go back and look at the pictures of how rotten I looked I may try to care a little more this time.

    any time I have had surgery I have been told no makeup or nail polish.

    They need to be able to monitor your vitals and the skin tone/color of your face and nails.

    If they told you this rule...I would indeed follow it.

    No nail polish so they can monitor the oxygen and body temperature (nail beds change color). They have monitors but like to use body cues as an indicator. No perfume or makeup as they can interfere with the medications and sterile OR. Basically, go in there like you got out of the shower. There's time for primping post-surgery.

    Sweet.  Because as you can tell, my vanity knows no bounds.  And I looked like crap after the birth of my daugher...just hoping for better pics this time around.

    i was told no deoderant and no contacts.  which sucked cause my face looked good but i smelled and couldn't see the baby too well when they showed her to me for the first time.  i'll remember my glasses this time but i'm saying screw it and putting on deoderant.  i sweat alot and it was so embarrassing!

    I have one scheduled for this baby (#1 was an emergency c section).  I got paperwork from the hospital saying the same thing- no nail polish, perfume, lotion, make-up, jewelry, etc.  Even if it were allowed, looking pretty as I'm being cut up is not a priority for me.
