Infertility

If you had a laparascopy..

How long did it take you to feel normal again? Its four weeks post tomorrow and I still feel sore.. ( much less but still not myself) I still get these little pinches in my stitches. don't get me wrong its way better but I still don't feel myself.. I went to the gym last week and walked on the treadmill and was so sore. like I had done 1000 crunches. Also, my stomach looks like I am 5 mos pregnant. I feel like its distended.

Re: If you had a laparascopy..

  • I'd ask your RE to take a look at everything to make sure all is fine. I had to stop working out for a full 3 weeks (it was my second lap in 6 months, so y abs just felt shot) , but I remember being fine after. I was actually at a wedding 6 days post surgery, and while I wasn't at my usual, I was able to dance a bit and people wouldn't have known if I hadn't said anything. I was still bloated, but my dress hid that pretty well.

Hi, I had a laparascopy last year in September. It's going to take a minute before you it feel normal again. It took me like 2 months to feel normal again. I was out of work for a month and a half. Going to the gym is a big NO NO because the inside are still healing. You should rest as much as possible. I hope this helps let me know if you have anymore questions.  :)
  • Everyone has different recovery times.  My recovery time varied from surgery to surgery.  Hang in there and if it doesn't get better soon, I would talk to your doc just to be sure.  Feel better soon!

  • Hey there, I had lap for a hydrosalpinx back in August, I took two full weeks off from work and was still pretty sore for another two weeks. Like mentioned everyone heals differently.... But I was completely shocked at how long it took me to feel almost normal again(about 6 weeks). I've healed so fast from previous surgeries. The bloating for me lasted about 4.5 weeks before I felt comfortable in my jeans again! I hope your back to normal very soon! It takes time and try to take it easy until your feeling good again. One giant leep forward can be a lot of steps back and mean extra time for healing.

  • I recently had one and bounced back pretty quick, my first one back in '09 had some nerve irritation which was miserable. I hope you're feeling better!
  • thats me. I'm at 5 weeks and suddenly feeling more myself this week.. I am wondering when i can do weights at the gym again.. My dr doesn't really say.. just says do what you can.. i hope its ok tho!  the bloating seems slightly less this week
  • Hi, runner76. This is really so, so hard to recover after lapo. The same was for me. I hope now you're ok and enjoying the life again ;)
For me the story ended much worse. After ap 2 months of sufferings I turned out to have my left ovary scarring. That was disaster for me as I did believe lapo would help me to get rig of some fertility issues. (I have endo and PCOS). Due to it and some additional test results we became the true candidates for DE IVF.
I hope lapo does less harm to all of you, girls. Or let me say may the surgery benefit more for us. Sending all positive vibes xx
