@bananers I completely agree. when people find out I had a med free birth (unplanned) with my second, they assume I am going to do it again. and then I ask them if they are insane. Trust me the medicated birth was much more enjoyable. Say yes to drugs!
My SIL went med free with my oldest nephew. I asked her the day after how it was and she said she wouldn't wish it on her worst enemy lol. Then 3 years later she was about to have nephew #2 and said she was going med free again. I very nicely reminded her what she said. She was like "oh I don't remember it being THAT bad".  I just laughed at her and said I had made it my mission to remind her of what she said. She ended up being induced so she needed the epi since the pitocin made her contractions extremely painful.

  • @Curls919 there is definitely some truth to the old adage that women have a unique ability to forget pain. Even now, almost three years after the birth of my first, I remember the contractions being painful before I got the epi, but there's a small part of me, in the back of my mind that thinks, it wasn't that bad, was it?

  • I remember both of my labors very vividly, 11 and 6 years ago. The first one was pretty awful, considering I labored at home for 4 hours before even going to the hospital, and then they started me on Pitocin.. I got meds in my IV, but they did next to nothing for my back labor, except make me delusional! After I got the Epi though, it was smooth sailing. I will say though, I pushed for over 2 hours with the first one. The second time, I was induced, and I got the Epidural only an hour into the Pitocin. That made all the difference in the world with the entire birth experience! The second time around was a much more enjoyable experience, and because I was pain free, I could relax to let my body work with the contractions, instead of fighting against the pain like I did with the first one. Pushed just over an hour the second time and had a much shorter  and much more enjoyable labor! I say bring on the drugs this time! I might even ask for them before I go into labor! LOL ;)
