Fur Babies!

Do you have any? If so, care to share who/what they are, how much joy (or grief) they bring you and maybe a pic if you're comfortable?

I'll start. This is Frankie, my kitty. I named her after Frank Sinatra, and I've had her for a little over a year. I had a bengal cat with my ex-husband whom I loved dearly, but when we divorced--- I had to leave him behind because ex-husband wouldn't give him up either. So we were literally going to do 2 week swaps if I didn't give in. I was devastated and thought I could never love another cat again (hahaha, yes, so dramatic!)... but Frankie came into my life as my boyfriend's birthday gift to me last year. She's been my bestie and I don't know what I'd do without her.

I have a 4 year old Shiba Inu who has had all my attention and been focus of my spoiling! I think it's going to be harder on her to not be the center or attention all the time but she always adjusts to new things so well! Her name is Yuki, which means snow in Japanese and is more fitting than we realized when we named her because she LOVES the snow! She is really smart and obnoxious about it. For example she knows how to open doors and does not like it when they are closed so our second bedroom which will become the nursery will be a challenge because when we close the door, she immediately jumps up to open it...

We have a 7 month old black lab mix named Sirius Black. We've had him since October. He is the most needy creature i've ever met, but he's also the sweetest. He loves all people and animals. He's going to have a hard time not being the baby anymore haha he's also scared of anything new so we're working on building up his confidence. I miss how little he used to be!

Here are my sweet babies!

Maggie is a 4 year old dachshund who we rescued from a breeder. She had been adopted out and brought back to the breeder twice for "bad behavior" and the breeder, who had a fresh batch of puppies at the time, "didn't have room for her." We were happy to take her and teach her the ropes. She's a perfect angel now!

Molly is a (nearly) 6 year old Pit Bull, Staffordshire Terrier, and Pointer mix we rescued from our local A.R.F. chapter. She was brought in with 2 broken ribs from being kicked and cigarette burns on her face. She's my heart and will not leave my side now that I'm pregnant!

This is Ruby. She's a 7 month old cocker spaniel/beagle mix. She is super sweet but also very high energy. Her intelligence and stubbornness fascinate me equally. She learns new "tricks" so fast but has a hard time with basic rules (such as no chewing DS's toys, shoes, socks, underwear, no jumping on the table). She can be very frustrating but when she looks at you with those eyes and lays in your lap to snuggle, she steals your heart!

I have to share this one, even though it's not technically "my" fur baby. My mom and step-dad just adopted this kitty. My mom works at a vet office and she was brought in after being attacked by a dog and with pnemonia. Poor little pumpkin. She's doing much better and loves her new home ☺️

We have our boy Tank! He's almost 3 yrs old and we rescued him in Nov 2014. He's the BEST dog ever. I know there's a "fear" for pit bulls but Tank wouldn't hurt a fly. He's so sweet and loves everyone. We couldn't ask for a better dog!

We have a 4.5 year old chihuahua mix. She is a rescue, very stubborn, and an absolutely sweetheart.
I am very allergic to her, however, which always bums me out.

This is our little munchkin Charlie. He's a 5 month old corgi/beagle/hound mix. We got him from a rescue when he was just 6 1/2 wks and he's absolutely spoiled rotten. My poor H is fully aware that he is the new favorite

His favorite activities are chewing sticks and giving kisses. He's been amazing with little kids so far, so I can't wait to see him grow up and be a fantastic big brother!

@housewifehobbyist , you're SO lucky to have a kitty that lets you dress her! I have so many cat costumes and cat hats, accumulated over the years. Haha, and I can't keep them on my cat for more than 5 seconds.

I have 2 Australian Shepherds. A black tri that is 7 years old named Kohda and a blue Merle that is 8 years old named Nahla. They actually
came from the same parents, but different litters. They are incredibly awesome, smart dogs. And they love my daughter with everything they have.

Love this!!!

I currently have 3 fur children. The Tortie is Ellie. She is the sweetest girl. She was supposed to be named for Eli Manning, but we end up calling her Elevator or Elenore. She's only 3. The tabby is Doodle. He is my first pet of my very own. I adopted him a few months after I graduated, along with his brother, Carlton. Carlton developed an intestinal blockage and passed away a few years ago. So Doodle is my firstborn and I definitely have the best relationship with him. He's a fantastic cat. He greets people at the door and is so snuggly and friendly and playful.

Our dog is Gemma. She's a half bishon half havanese gorgeous girl. She has the prettiest blonde curls. But she has so much anxiety she can't stand being anywhere but with us, in our house, with no one else. Luckily that anxiety didn't transfer to the baby. She's not super into him, but she tolerates him well, and she's becoming more interested in playing now that he's a little bigger.

We have a mini Australian Shepherd who is a black tri. She will have her world rocked come October because she thinks DH and I exist to give her attention and love on her!

We have 2 miniature schnauzers, Willa and Moose. They are both pretty spoiled, especially Willa since she was our first. Moose is already taking guard dog duty seriously and generally refuses to leave my lap at night.

Love this thread! I read an article the other day about all of the benefits of a child growing up in a home with a pet(s). Teaches them so much! These are my fur babies. They are both Cocker Spaniels that come from the same mom, but different dad. Toby is 10 and Cooper is 9. Toby (the parti - aka spotted one) is my sweetheart - he's always been such a great dog & I can't imagine my life without him. Cooper is, how do I say this, TROUBLE. He is always in trouble. He's very active, still acts like a puppy. But he makes me laugh every day at the things he does. Keeps life interesting!

These are my boy heads Piglet (the pit bull) and Niko (Carolina dog). Niko is my old man, he's been with me for 10 years, and I adopted him through the humane society. He's very stoic and keeps things in line. Piggy is the goofball, he's 9 but still acts like a (really lazy) puppy. He's a mommy's boy hardcore!

My super generous, thoughtful husband got me a puppy instead of diamonds for Christmas. I like her a little bit now. Stella and Bentley. We also have three cats and a fish. Basically, we live in a zoo.

Love this thread!! Here's our two Boston Terriers, Neely and Charlie. They're three and two years old, respectively, and are the best dogs ever.

We also have a beautiful black cat named Arthur (which must be pronounced with a thick Boston accent) but he's a bitch and won't pose for photos.

This fluffernutter is our last remaining guinea pig, Cassi (Cassiopeia). She is currently ill and probably won't live to see our baby born. It feels wrong to think of raising our child in a house without guinea pigs, but she is our 11th over about 12 years and it just hurts too much to keep losing them.

This fur-demon is Natasha. She's almost eight years old. She has the softest, most luscious fur like a living plushy, but she doesn't like to be cuddled. We love her anyway.

This is my baby Captain. He was my 28th birthday present! We adopted him from a local shelter! He's such a good dog a little too smart for his own good, he can jump a 6ft fence, open doors, and get out of his crate in 10 sec!! He loves to play fetch and go for long runs with me.

He's going to be the best big brother!

2 of my 4 fur babies-Jesco the dog is a 4 year old catahoula leopard dog mix-he's from WV and I tricked DH into letting us adopt him by telling him that if we didn't adopt him they would put him to sleep (totally worth lying to DH)
Sally the horse is my darling almost 30 year old Morgan mare, who I have owned since she was born- she lives at my parents barn and I miss her terribly but I make the 3.5 hour drive twice a month to see her.
not pictured are my cat- a mushy love lump black cat and DHs evil hell beast he calls a cat who is actively trying to kill me. He found her in a train yard and brought her home.

This is Otto. He's a 2-year-old German Shorthair Pointer mix we spring from the Humane Society in November. He has anxiety (that has really improved since he's been with us) and he needs a LOT of activity, so I hike him a lot, but that's good for me, and he is incredibly smart, comes when called, and is great with the kids.

This is my Daisy girl. She's a (almost) 3 year old pit/boxer/something else mix. Like most of the other fur babies, she refuses to leave my side right now. Much cuddles.

We have 4 cats, all girls. Patch is 10 and she is my baby. She is huge! Used to weigh about 20lbs but has lost a little bit. Islay is F's baby. She hates everyone but him and she hisses at all the other cats. Lucy and Cali are about 2 years old. Lucy is the most docile cat ever but Cali hides from everyone. Lots if personality In my house.

Tank is our little guy and totally runs the show. He loves to lay out and sun or curl up under the blankets with you. Boo is our big guy who is really just a big baby, he hates beeping noises and is total daddy's boy.
Boo was my boyfriends and Tank was mine and they became brothers at 2 years old ❤️

We have 2 that are too babied to be ready for a baby! Sunny is our 9 yr old mini dauschund. I got her as a present from my uncle when i graduated high school. He used to be a breeder and my sister and mom have Sunny's sisters from different litters. And Benedict is our 2 yr old big ol' bobtailed baby. He picked us, just walked into our apartment every day for a week. We looked for his owners for a couple weeks and never found anyone so we kept him.

This is my first baby, Kerrigan. She's a soon-to-be 3-year old Australian Shepherd, chock full of energy and spaz. I love her to pieces, however she drives me bonkers 90% of the day because she will not leave me alone. She went super shadow-mode during my first pregnancy so I'm pretty sure she knows something is up... again.

I have two rescued street pups. People don't really keep dogs for pets here except for security reasons so mostly I'm the weird white person walking and playing with dogs but I don't care. The first one is Patrick (Patty for short) who is a yellow street dog. He pretty much looks like every other street dog here in Tanzania. I found him scavenging on the side of the road one evening almost a year ago on my walk home and I asked my FI (now DH) if I could keep him and he said yes, haha. We guess he was about 3-4 months old then.

My second is possibly a german shepherd/street dog mix. He's only approx 3 months old and we have no idea what to expect with him in terms of size or anything. His name is Oti and he's adorable. Except that he's super naughty and can squeeze out of impossible spaces.

Ignore the unmade bed! As soon as I get up, they steal my spot! The grey tabby is Emmett (6) and my baby girl is named Lizzy Lou (12). I adopted her about 5 years ago when I was living alone. He came about 6 months later when I realized she was lonely while I was at work all day. She was not happy at first... Most days she's still not happy, but he adores her. He loves to snuggle and usually sleeps on my shoulder. She usually sleeps at my feet but lately wants to sleep right on the baby!

I have three fur babies. Ellie the white lab mix is my baby, and I've had a long talk with her what it means to be a big sister and that no matter how much time the new baby takes up she is still my love. She buried her head in my chest, she did not take it well. The other two are really husband's dogs, so he has to have the chat with them.
