  • I don't force my almost 2yo to brush twice a day. Probably because I'm pretty positive you can't "force" a toddler to brush their teeth

I decided to get Invisalign this week because my dental insurance only covers adult orthodontic procedures until my 26th birthday, which is in September.
I've had them on for 3 days now and I'm already regretting this decision. lol. I'm at a point where, any time I want to eat something, I have to decide if it's worth it to take these darn things out, eat, then brush/clean my teeth and the trays, and pop them back in. So much work.

Edited because I apparently don't know when my birthday is, and typed August instead of September. Doh!

  • @Bookhousegirl I was having the same problem with taking my prenatals. I now keep them on my nightstand with a bottle of water. Try that! It really works for me.

  • My confession... I have not been as good as I should be with my prenatals. There are too many nights that I'm laying in bed and realize I forgot to take them, but am too lazy to get up again...
HAHA YUP!  Me, too.  I'm also on synthroid for pregnancy induced hypothyroid, and I do remember to take that every morning somehow, but apparently you're not supposed to take it with a vitamin.  I had the same thing last pregnancy and didn't know that, and I always just took them together...everything turned out fine.  It's gotten to the point where I think I went two full weeks forgetting to take my pnv before bed or once I remembered being too lazy to get up to do it, so now I just take them together in the mornings and I'm hoping for the best.  It's the only way I remember both, and I even told my Drs that I'm a no good very bad horrible terrible pill taker....so whatever, if they're not going to give me something that I can take together I'm just gonna do ma thang!

  • I'm seriously considering spraying some Afrin up my nose right now because I just can't take the congestion anymore.  My Drs office is on lunch, so no one is there to take my call until after 1pm....it's one little spray, it's totally fine, right???

We only brush our 2yo's at night too. I should probably get him in a 2x a day routine but I've been lazy.

  • I went home for lunch and ate a bowl of raspberries covered (like cereal style) in cream. Fruit serving right?
Heck yes. And there's protein and calcium in the cream, right? Last night I had a bunch of strawberries with Nutella and it was amazing. I fully count that as a fruit serving, too.
  • I let my daughter eat pasta for dinner 3 nights in a row. I didn't have it in me to fighter her on it while my DH was way. I'm weak.
  • Im spending more time here and on fb today than actually doing work for my paid job... its friday afternoon and I am ready for the weekend to start already...

  • @Katienu My husband has been gone this week too and we've been surviving on whatever I can throw together that I know she will eat. No way I'm going to cook for just the two of us when I know she probably wouldn't eat it anyway. PB&J tortillas for life.

  • @lwc1112 That makes me feel so much better! Last night I could practically hear the gasp of neurotic mom's everywhere judging me.
  • Ok this is going to make me sound like an absolutely awful person:

I block pretty much every MLM person that tries to follow me on IG, except for this one woman who sells Herbalife. She just happens to be pregnant and almost exactly as far along as I am. She constantly posts the healthy meals she eats and how she hasn't gained a single ounce this pregnancy and blah blah blah. She also posts a lot of pictures of herself and she... doesn't exactly look like she hasn't gained any weight. I know that sounds totally awful of me, but it does make me feel better. I'm not exactly super fit either. I like to look at her pictures while I'm shoving oreos in my face and reassure myself that it's not worth total deprivation.
Nope, I'm with you, I can't stand MLM's. I have an in-law who sells "It Works" and I so want to block her because she does multiple posts per day about it. But then I'd miss out on family pics, and generally knowing what's going on with that side of the fam, so I keep scrolling past her damn pics of "that crazy wrap thing" and all the before and afters.

Totally agree. I have blocked quite a few friends on FB for this reason alone. So obnoxious. If I am ever interested, I know where to find you. Make a separate page for that crap. UGH.

  • As far as MLMs are concerned, I've just never understood why anyone would want to try and make money off of their friends. I love Advocare products, but not enough to buy into it and try to sell it to my friends so I can 1. Get a mediocre discount and 2. Make money off of them.

Me neither. I hate having to explain my shopping/spending choices to people. Like, when I shop on my own in a store, no one is giving me a bunch of pushback when I choose not to buy something (aside from the occasional pushy salesperson, but I rarely shop in stores like that). I hate having to explain why I really don't want/don't need/can't afford an item. Especially when most of the MLM's coach their distributors on "overcoming objections." Sales tactics like that are essentially manipulations, and that's why I don't think it's wise to mix business with friendship. If you're going to try to manipulate me into buying something for your personal gain, I will feel no guilt in saying no!
  • So as a family we are totally not materialistic at all -enjoy shopping at thrift stores, take hand-me downs, go on road trips instead of luxury vacations, blah blah - BUT I realllly want a ridiculously expensive stroller/car seat.  I talked myself out of it and put a normal one on the registry but, I just can't get that damn uppaBaby out of my head.  Every time I see a mom with one around the city I get jealous!! Ugh I hate feeling like this but, I feel like I deserve to be spoiled this one time.

Get it!!!!! Trust me, with strollers you get what you pay for. Like vacuums. Also, remember that you can resell nice strollers like that for over half what you originally paid!
  • Picked up DS from school and swung by the store on the way home....literally for pickles, ice cream, and a cheeseburger.

I alternated for frozen Greek yogurt (3 different flavors) but added a few of the cheapy frozen 50© burritos and on sale bakery cream cheese cinnamon rolls to the cart. That's a good compromise right? Now macking on my dinner of the week. The 6yr old is ecstatic and we have no adult supervision since DH is napping.
  • @Mrsrundell we got an uppababy vista for DS for a really good deal on Craigslist. It was like $300 off and barely used (the toddler seat had never even been taken out of the packaging). We've loved it and it's totally worth the money, but I would look to see if anyone is selling an old one to save a bit.

  • @bananers prior to labor with DS I was saying I was going to try med-free but by my third contraction I was singing a different tune. When I finally got the epidural I was saying to everyone who came into the room (nurses, doctors, family members) "why would you not do this?!?!". Maybe I have a low pain tolerance but it was not worth going through that amount of pain for that long when I didn't have to.

  • I think I might have to go back on meds known to cause cleft palate and pre term labor.

I would do *anything* to give this little guy a better shot at life, and it absolutely kills me not to be able to make it through.

If you have to go on medication to make sure that you are safe and thriving I wouldn't feel guilty.  As far as the cleft palate, I think all of that has already formed by now and if there was going to be a cleft palate it would already be present.  I would recommend seeking the experience of a MFM doctor to monitor while you are on the medication for any signs of preterm labor.

I don't get the big deal about natural childbirth and the (often) superior attitude that comes with it. I'm all for women don't what they feel most comfortable with regarding childbirth, but I view med-free birth with about as much admiration as a med-free root canal. Hey, your choice.

With my last I would not let them start Pitocin until my epidural was in.  My doctor rolls like that.  It is my goal not to feel any contractions with this next one either.  I labored without meds all through my first birth, for a while with my second, that I have reached the need for new goals...the pain free birth experience.

Edit:  However, I really do admire those women that go med free.  I wanted to die with my oldest since I always have back labor.  I thought I would go med free with my daughter too, but the moment I had my first contraction in my back I was taken back to that want to die feeling and demanded an epidural.

@bananers I completely agree. when people find out I had a med free birth (unplanned) with my second, they assume I am going to do it again. and then I ask them if they are insane. Trust me the medicated birth was much more enjoyable. Say yes to drugs!
  • @DDrrt1982 I have an appointment with my neurologist on the 7th, we're going to go over risks and benefits.
That's a good suggestion, about the MFM thank you! I'm in the process of changing doctors, and there are three groups at the hospital I like, so I will bring that up to the groups when I make some calls next week.
