It still kind of hurts down there.

Hey, is anyone still not right in your lady parts?
I still have this lingering dull pain that really prevents me from enjoying things like, sex, waking far, biking, etc. It feels like I have a tampon that is inserted too low and is rubbing and irritating the walls of my vagina. I am going to the doctor with this but my appointment isn't till the end of March.
(Also, lower back pain and pain like I am on my period for over two weeks now but no bleeding. Guh).
I am beginning to worry I will never recover! Anyone had this problem or know someone who had?

Re: It still kind of hurts down there.

  • Def still hurt down there. My labia are still tender where I tore and the walls don't seem to feel too great either. I assume it's from BFing? But it sucks. Sex is still not enjoyable. And I still don't get wet like I used to. Even sitting a certain way kind of hurts. What the f???

  • I still have sensitivity on my episiotomy scar; it's painful if my underwear rubs a certain way and during certain positions while intimate. I'm 26 weeks post partum
  • @v1wwo did you have bad tearing or any complications during delivery?  I had to deliver by forceps due to LOs gigantic head getting stuck and it caused some problems with my pelvic floor muscles.  Ive had dull pain that sounds similar to yours.  It gets worse throughout the day, especially after long periods of walking or sitting, as well as painful intercourse.  I saw my OBGYn and she was able to diagnose me with vaginismus and refer me to a physical therapist.  Organ prolapse can also cause pain down there.  Good news is that both of these are treatable conditions.

My physical therapist also mentioned that if the abdominal muscles don't heal back together properly (diastasis recti) it can cause back pain due to not having proper support in your core, so that could possibly be a cause of the back pain.  This can also be treated by physical therapy.

No, I did not have a hard delivery. Just two stitches with no complications other then a flap of skin not healing. That got cut off.
I have a feeling that my doctor is going to give me some Anti-yeast medication (edit -the app died on my) and I dont think this will solve the problem. I will name thing things you told me @Kelliek327 and see what she will say.

  • I tore (along scar tissue from DD1) and the repair healed well, but I'm still sore to the touch. We started having sex once and I couldn't do it. DH's understanding is wearing off, so I know we need to try again-but I'm so worried. It took well over a year after DD1 for it to not hurt.

  • I'm not really sore to the touch, but will sometimes wake up from some sort of mystery ache in that area. It feels like sore and achy muscles - almost reminds me of the pushing sensation?! I've been doing Kegels in hopes that it would help and it maybe has a little, but I definitely feel a dull ache often (I especially notice at night and my legs will cramp then too...).

I had a pretty non-complicated delivery - minor second degree tear with two stitches.
  • Yep.  Between extensive tearing and lots of stitches, and the lack  of estrogen from breastfeeding, it's still pretty hurty. Good times.
  • I don't have pain but I do have bump down where I tore. My main issue is my farts go up my vagina and not backwards. Even if I lean forward in a chair or while standing it's super strange and gross to me

I had that!!! It stopped so maybe one day it will go away for you too
  • I have my annual exam next week.

OBGYN and I are gonna have a really frank talk, here.  Husband and I would like to try for a sibling, and unless things get a little less painful, that becomes pretty difficult-to-impossible to work on.
  • For any of you who are still in pain I definitely recommend talking to your OBGYN just in case you do have a diagnosable problem like mine.  I've had two PT sessions and am already seeing a huge improvement!  Also, even if you don't have anything wrong but are still having painful sex, I thought I'd share what my PT recommended at my most recent appointment.  She said to use "Slippery Stuff" lube rather than grocery store brands like KY.  Apparently it is MUCH better for your skin, especially when healing post partum, and can really make a difference in the pain level.  It's available to order online, and might be available in some drugstores.  She gave me some samples so we will see how it goes!  And of course, she said to use LOTS and LOTS since I'm still BFing and drier than normal.
