Monday B*tchfest

I need this today:

I didn't get to watch the Oscars last night. Serious pouting. :(
DD has some kind of plague virus where she coughs every two seconds coupled with bad congestion. She kept us up pretty much all night. She slept on my ribcage for the small amount of time she actually let me sleep.
It's Monday.
It's still February.

Re: Monday B*tchfest

  • My husband wanted to watch Fuller House with me. We watched a couple episodes Friday night after getting home from dinner at my parents' house (home around 8:30) and fell asleep by 9:30. Then he worked until 11pm on Saturday so definitely did not watch, and last night we settled in to watch more and again - started watching around 8 and I was dozing off by 9 and told him to just put on the Oscars or something I didn't care to watch.

Meanwhile, while he worked all weekend - during my toddler's naps I watched garbage TV that my husband doesn't care to watch when I could have been binging on my Fuller House.

That is a really silly rant - but I hate looking forward to the evening all day then falling asleep so early. Boo.

  • Mine is sort of a preemptive bitch. My husband is starting a three day juice cleanse with his co-workers tomorrow. So not only did I have to drop about $90 on three days worth of produce for 1 person (our grocery budget, which I manage, is usually spend about $70 per week for BOTH of us so grrr...)  I'll have to deal with a super cranky and starved husband for the next three days. I'm pretty much planning on finding other things to do in the evenings than go home and sit with mr grumpy pants.
  • I'm sitting in the waiting room after just having an ultrasound waiting on further paperwork before I can go and my babysitter isn't responding to my texts >:(

  • @annas930 - Same here. I bought The Martian at least a month ago because I was so psyched to watch it. Guess what's still sitting on the counter unopened? The only thing that's on at night is reruns of The Big Bang Theory because it I doze off to that I'm not missing anything because I've probably already seen it.

My rant - I hate health insurance companies. I have two prescriptions at my pharmacy for test strips for my glucometer. One Rx goes to a Bluetooth meter, the other to a regular meter. I haven't had to fill either Rx since the beginning of the year. I go to fill one yesterday. My insurance company won't allow either of them to be filled. Not because they're expired but because they need a pre-authorization form for one (which they got about 6 months ago) and they no longer cover the strips for the other meter. News to me! There was no notification given for no longer covering the one type of test strips. So here I sit, waiting for my endocrinologist to call me back so that I can make sure that he sends the pre-authorization form to my insurance company who still has up to 24 hours to deal with this. Ass- clowns.

  • @UnwritteN12 - I work as a pharmacist and part of my job is reviewing PAs. But... we are contracted with medcaid not private insurance so there are a lot of different rules about what is covered and what isn't. Also, as part of our contract we have to reply to prior authorizations within 24 hours - so that's a crazy long time for a form to sit waiting for a response. Insurance can be super frustrating.

  • Today I have to go back to the hospital for a second time to redo one of the blood tests that was recommended, because somehow they messed up the original sample given. So annoying - it's a half an hour and prob a ton of traffic away... so annoyed!

  • @KarenBeth714 - last time around I could tell when they were testing to see if I was a carrier for Tay Sachs that the lab attendant didn't draw that one often (they had to check multiple times of what color tube, how many tubes, etc). They called me the following day to say not enough sample was taken and I'd have to go back. Then I got another call a few hours later saying they could make do with what I gave them.  I was so confused.  I'm so happy it was a carrier test so I don't have to test again with each pregnancy

  • Here's another bitchfest moment - I brought a banana to work on Friday and never ate it (I bought chips and candy for a snack instead.. obviously). It's still in there and now it's super ripe. All the food I've eaten today tastes like banana!  Waaaah.  I love bananas, but I didn't want my cheese sandwich and cheese chex mix and cheese crackers to taste like banana... Apparently I'm on a cheese kick.

  • My MIL is driving me insane. :(

  • Mondays are the worst . . . at least according to Garfield and this baby. I am always sickest on Monday's. Like it isn't already hard to come to work after the weekend. Food smells haven't bothered me in a couple weeks, but today someone is eating what smells like vegetable soup and it is literally making me gag. No one at work knows yet so I can't really say or do anything about it. I am 11w3d. I am hoping the sickness goes away soon. I pray I am not one of the girls who gets sick for the whole pregnancy. Ugh
  • Has anyone had a toddler with RSV? I think DD might be coming down with it. Constant coughing all night and she just spiked a fever and the coughing is getting worse. We have a doc appointment in an hour. Feeling anxious :(

  • @TheTamedShrew - My 1 year old actually had RSV last year. He started daycare around 10 weeks and must have been around 3 or 4 months old he tested positive for RSV (after testing negative for it a week or two before that).  Luckily he seemed to have a pretty mild case - though it was terrible from my perspective at the time.  In Maine RSV is pretty common, and being a virus it does pass.  Just keep a good eye on her breathing, make sure it isn't requiring a lot of effort (you'd see her skin really sucking in below her rib cage if she was struggling) and of course watch for signs of poor oxygenation (any bluing of the finger/lips/etc.)

She'll be ok either way, glad you're getting her in!

  • I was 30 minutes late to work because my 3 year old was so clingy (DH usually does drop off and I do pick up so I'm usually out of the house long before he leaves, but not today).

I finally get to work and my computer is on the fritz and the main system I need to operate my entire day is down.  I started a training instead that I didn't get done this weekend (because my computer wasn't working then either) and it took me over 3 hours to do it, and I'm only a 1/4 of the way through.

I dropped an old-school office desk phone that someone shoved into an overpacked storage cabinet on my foot and it hurts like a MF.

My boss just sent an email saying that I'm the only one carrying my weight in the entire zone.  That means that we need to take on more work and I will be even busier (unfortunately, I am not exempt from this new push of referrals he's sending over so I'll have even MORE work to do).

I'm out of the office next week and I'm so far behind from this stupid training taking so long and lack of office functionality today that I'm going to have to work this weekend before I leave for this work trip.
  • I so need this today, and sorry if its long but here goes.  My SIL is a nightmare.  She's extremely judgemental, in your face, and sassy.  She blurts out the most inappropriate things all the time (when I told her I was pregnant again she rolled her eyes and said "im sorry") And she's a know it all about everything - parenting, party planning, church, health, you name it...) She became pregnant when she had been dating my little brother for less than a year and so they married.  About a year later, my DH and I also got married and to include her I made her a bridesmaid.  Terrible mistake.  She tried to take over from my wedding planner at the rehearsal and caused a huge scene, she called me a bridezilla behind my back (bc she wasn't as involved as she wanted) and she pitted my sister, who was maid of honor, against me telling her I didn't want her involved bc I wasn't involved in her wedding.  Which was untrue, I lived in another state and was unable to be apart of most of the pre-wedding stuff. And my sister and I were mad at each other not only on my wedding day but for about a year afterwards.

Any who, flash forward to present day... We've decided to have a gender reveal for this baby and I got my sister involved so she can be the one to organize the actual reveal.  I've been planning a carnival theme and wanted to have games for the kids to play including a dart game that will reveal the sex. My DH and I decided we wanted to throw the backyard carnival BBQ at our house and involved my sister for planning.  We didn't want anyone to throw it for us, like a shower. So, of course when SIL found out she wasn't included she was upset and talked to my sister about it.  So my sister, without talking to me, put her "in charge of decorations".  Which is basically the entire theme of the party. And now, of course, she is trying to take over.  My sister and I have been keeping a Pinterest board for ideas and when I tried to tell her about is she said "I gave up the internet for lent so I can't do that right now" I want to scream.  And I don't know how to uninvolve her now w/o causing a huge dramatic gossipy mess that will ruin the party. It was supposed to be fun and now its a stressful mess.   :s

  • @thetamedshrew no experience with RSV but my daughter just got over strep throat with similar symptoms. The antibiotic helped almost immediately. Hope your daughter feels better soon.

  • @TheTamedShrew - we had one with RSV but it wasn't severe enough to be hospitalized for and didn't require much else than a humidifier (but he was little, like just a few months old at most).  My 5 year old just got over a nasty cough that required prescription cough medicine at night.  It helped a ton!  Fingers crossed that it's nothing serious and your daughter feels better soon!
  • So my husband had to leave today to go on another business trip (he was just away two weeks ago). Everytime he goes away, my parents automatically assume that I will want to come stay with them for the entire week. They do live closer to my work than I do, so occasionally it is convenient for me to stay there, but I can't stand them bothering me everyday about whether or not I am going to be staying over and getting offended when I tell them I am staying AT MY OWN HOUSE. Here's to hoping this week goes by fast!
  • @izzetoot sounds awful! You were so excited about this awesome reveal too  :/! I'm pissed she's raining on your parade. Since she's being a twatwaff about the internet (she sounds so holy) I would have your sister text her a slew of pics. Although I love @AnnaS930 's idea, it would def cause a shit ton of drama. I feel your pain regarding a MOH that wasn't there, my sister totally sucked at the position (due to a stupid boy) and our relationship hasn't been the same since.

@karenbeth714- good luck! I hope all goes well today

@TheTamedShrew, my DD had RSV when she was one.  I picked her up from daycare one evening and she had a little wheeze when she was breathing.  We took her to urgent care, who said her oxygen levels were a little low and sent us to the ER.  The ER confirmed RSV and because of her low oxygen, admitted us to the pediatric unit.  She was in the hospital for an entire week!  You honestly wouldn't have known that it was that bad...she wasn't coughing a lot or anything.  After that experience, my advice would always be to err on the side of caution and get your LO checked out of you're even a little concerned (not to be alarmist or anything).  I just remember the nurse in the hospital telling us that with little ones, they can turn for the worse really quickly.
  • @AnnaS930 I hate when that happens with bananas!  DH and I constantly are "arguing" about this because he is convinced that banana taste doesn't transfer to other foods. The man is obviously crazy

I have to buy a swim suit because I'm not getting into a bikini and I signed DD up for swim lessons that start tomorrow.

@izzetoot - just from your description of her.. she WOULD give up the internet for Lent. ugh.

Not honest advice but - change the date of the event to a week before SIL thinks. Email all involved to update. She'll see the email when her and God are cool with her going online again and the party will be over.
OMG, if I didn't have to live with the repercussions of that for years to come I totally would.  She's also decided to be a vegan for lent so I plan on serving nothing but meat and dairy at the party.  She brought a head of cauliflower over to my moms last night for dinner and I straight up laughed out loud and told her Dh and I have been calling her a va-gine behind her back.  I couldn't resist, I blame the hormones.
@izzetoot What was her reaction!?!  I would've loved to have seen that.

Also - you mentioned she got pregnant and then her and your brother married.   Is he in this for the long haul because they're totes meant to be together and totally perfect?  Or do you see a possible silver lining where this will dissolve in the future?
  • @LakeR2014 Oh, it was great.  She rolled her eyes and tried to laugh like it didn't bother her.  She has been blabbing about her new found vegan-hood to anyone that'll listen except for me bc she's knows that I'll think it's stupid.  My DH is a chef and we are always cracking jokes about gluten-free and vegan and what not.

As for her sticking around for the long haul, I don't know.  I feel so sorry for my brother sometimes.  He's one of those super nice guy types that women like her walk all over. They have 2 kids together now and she's a stay at home mom.

  • @izzetoot - A head of cauliflower is something to hand a Lent-only vegan as a joke.. not for them to supply themselves. What a joke. I don't like people who do things for show.
I am no Christian, but it seems like bragging about what you're giving up for Lent is kind of against the whole idea of it?

  • I've been hit by some crazy flu hybrid and yesterday was unable to keep a thing down or my eyes awake, today I haven't puked *knock on wood* but now am congested af, have a sore chest cough and am so achy I can barely move. Hubs has been telling me to suck it up but just doesn't get that I can't take anything and have to suffer through this for the second time this pregnancy! Toddler was also very fevered and slept for 36 hours straight but bounced back this morning and he thinks I should be more like that, I wish I could!

  • 36 hours straight?!?!

  • Turns out it wasn't RSV. It's the flu. She's had the vaccine too. They said it can mutate and you can still catch it. Awesome. Thanks for all the feedback everyone.

  • I thought I wouldn't have one for today but now I do. Just smashed my fingers in the f@&$ing garage door and it hurt sooo bad. I cried! It was the worst. And still hurts.
And everyone is happy for our pregnancy, except my grandma, who had four kids herself. She has bad anxiety, isn't doing well, and think it'll take away from the time I get to come see her, so idk..dreaded telling her because she wasn't happy last time either. At least this time I got my mom to.

Sorry about your finger, @TNgoldengirl!!  It sounds v painful. 20 years ago I went on a 2-week vacation with my parents to California and the thing I most vividly remember from the trip is smashing my finger in the bathroom door of one of the hotels in L.A.

Sorry about your grandmother's lack of enthusiasm, too. It always sucks when people that are close to you don't share in the joy. I hope she'll still come around when she can hold her new great-grandkid for the first time!

Mine is mild today, my back hurts like crazy! Not sure if it's pregnancy related or from sitting at a desk all day, but I'm used to sitting at a desk. It kills me every time I have to stand up or pick up DS (which is about a million times a day).

@TNgoldengirl  sorry about your grandma! It can be so hurtful when close friends/ family aren't excited for you. When I told my grandma I was engaged after dating DH for 2 years her response was "Oh. To the same guy you've been seeing? Young people these days can't commit". Sheesh, thanks grandma.
