@emgem819 - Wow it sounds like you're moving right along quickly!!  That's so exciting!  I know, it makes me nervous too but I'm also very anxious to get the process started.  All the positive betas from IVF on here has made me very excited to get the ball rolling!

  • @wifeinraleigh28 it isn't always a success. This round was my third transfer, so I still had to endure two heartbreaks after moving to IVF. Hopefully you won't have to!

  • @wifeinraleigh28 we will be doing IUI again....I'm ready to get it going
  • I got a bfn on my hpt yest. How do you know when is the right time to move onto Ivf? It's just so much oop.
  • @kwolf002 I'm sorry to hear about your BFN :( I personally chose to move to IVF after the maximum number of IUIs my clinic does. It was not recommended to me to move to IVF sooner "because you're so young". Yeah, well that didn't help me conceive through IUI. It is a really personal choice, and it IS a lot of oop cost. For us the only reason we've pursued IVF is because my DHs mom and dad offered to pay for it, with us contributing whatever we felt we could. If we had to pay for it, we would not have done it. I hope that you are at peace with whatever you decide to do. I wish you only the best!

@AandDM2014 - I know it doesn't always work.  But I do know it works far more often than IUI does, and that is why we are moving to IVF now.  GL with beta #2 today!

@kwolf002 - So sorry about your BFN.  It is definitely a personal choice about when to move on to IVF.  We decided after 2 IUIs to move to IVF, but we knew going in to IUI that our chances were slim due to MFI.  We just don't feel like it's worth it to keep trying IUI anymore.  But it is entirely up to you.

  • Feeling a bit down today:(  dh and I had a talk with my parents about $$ help with ivf and it didn't go as well as we'd hoped...mostly I think my parents want to help but they are worried if they give $$ to help with the first round and it fails what about the next and how will we ever afford a house or other things if we are paying this one ivf off and can't save?  Ugh.  It's just frustrating because the planner in me just wants to start ivf because there's a chance, much better chance than iui, but I don't think right now we can make it happen. We are going to apply for a scholarship and look into ivf studies but that stops the whole process and makes us farther away from being parents.  The awful thing is I'm mostly angry with my body for having pcos and making it so hard in the first place.  Infertility really is just so hard and I'm amazed by all the hope that so many of you have on here after going through so much already.  We just gotta keep trying for that glimmer of a chance we will all get our little miracles!

  • @emgem819 I get ya on the whole "damn IVF is expensive" thing. The only reason we were able to do it was because DHs mom and dad offered to pay for it, no string attached. If they hadn't we would not have done it, as we just don't have the funds for it. I would say, especially since you are over 35, IVF would just make the most sense. Hopefully you'll figure everything out! I wish you the best luck in whatever you decide!

  • @emgem819 - I'm so sorry to hear this.  I hate that it's so expensive, and without financial support from family we wouldn't be able to do it either.  Fortunately my husband's family is desperate for grandchildren otherwise we might be on our own with the $$.  I really hope you're able to find a way to make it work.  I know there are studies being conducted all the time and there are scholarships available.  And I hope it doesn't delay your plans for too long!!

  • Congrats on your twins @sassysd7!  I'm glad to hear you and the babies are doing so well.  No updates for me, just continuing along.  We were supposed to do IVF this month but now we're waiting to participate in a clinical trial in June.  So were doing one more IUI while we wait.
