Infertility

Hi Everyone!

I just wanted to introduce myself since i'm new to posting. I started reading through the posts a while ago and it is unbelievably comforting to see so many people going through similar experiences... So here is my story: (sorry i still don't know all of your abbreviations, but i'll work on it :) )
I am 35 y.o, married for 2 1/2 yrs, hubby is 33 y.o. TTC for about a year and a half.  I have very long cycles, Dr said i was probably not ovulating regularly. AMH was high, around 6, can't remember exact value. No other abnormalities. My husbands tests were normal except for morphology which was slightly out of range.
We tried 3 IUI's with Letrozole, and hCG trigger shots, each time i had one big follicle (each time in my right ovary) , responded well to med but no success.
We are now getting ready for IVF. Started taking BCP on 2/11. HSG scheduled for march 2nd and then will set a start date.
So far it looks like we'll be doing FET with PGS and ICSI.  I have been given scripts for the following meds: Cetrotide, Crinole gel, Menopur and Estradiol.
Emotionally speaking i was super positive with the IUI's and then obviously disappointed. IVF excites me and scares me. I haven't told really anyone except for 1 friend and i moved to a different city last year so it gets lonely, even though my husband has been amazing.  BTW she is pregnant with her 2nd baby ( the first one took over a year of trying so she can relate) so i also don't want to bother her too much with my issues.
We are thankful that we can afford IVF, i can't believe how expensive this is. We are looking at $15,500. I am a dentist and make good money but i only graduated last year and have tons of student loans, and hubby is not making much money. One of the most stressful  things is that i don't have my own office, i work for a big company and have been there less than 1 year. I have not told them about my treatment, and getting time off is a real problem, i managed to do the 3 IUI's but i'm losing sleep over all the appointments for IVF. I work a lot, 5 days a week from 7:30 or 8 to 5:00 pm.
I'm trying to stay positive because it's all worth it and i do know that so many women out there have gone through so much worse situations, but i have my ups and downs. I have always been a planner and the first lesson i have learned is that i don't have a lot of control over this process...
Sorry for the long post, thanks in advance for your support and i hope i can also be helpful to others ... XOXO

  • Welcome @yelllow22
Planning with IVF is hard, and we have no control what so ever. For me being a control freak this was extremely hard.
Was lucky with my FET that I could plan 5 days ahead, due to my 5day blastocyst.

Ive been open about my IVF at work. I wasn't with my IUI as that weren't many appointments until they found out I had PCOS and needed Gonal-F and monitoring.
I am lucky though to live in Norway where I can be open at work about TTC and be leaving the company for a year on pregnancy leave without them freaking out. It has made my journey so much easier.

I don't think you'll bother your friend if you talk about your issues, if she's anything like mine, she wants to be there for you. And for me, that means to let me ramble on about the same thing.

But hey, you've joined us ladies, and here you definitely do not need to worry that you bother us! So anything you have in your heart you need to get out, do that here. You have enough on your plate and you don't want to carry that along.

GL on your journey, stay strong because you got this!

  • Welcome! I'm in the middle of IVF meds right now. I did go on "sabbatical" from work for this - very stressful career - so I can not quite relate to getting time off. But I can say that it is mostly only condensed into two weeks and if your clinic is like most,  they do the bw and u/s super early (mine opens at 7). So on monitoring days, if your work is not too far from the clinic you won't have to miss too much time in the morning. Don't stress, work will always be there, but the older we get the opportunity to have a baby will not always be there. Good luck!!

I really noticed how it is just me going through it all, even though friends and family are amazing at being there for me, I'm getting all them BFN.

That one year maternity leave is the best, that's such a luxury we have here in Scandinavia.

Tomorrow will be an excited day for you. I love it when I have a start date ready, it helps me relax
