Sorry but why does it seem like losing weight during pregnancy is becoming trendy...thumbs down if it's intentional...not that anyone would admit that! I understand it happens on occasion but the majority of pregnant women stating this...Please!!! I'm 18 weeks with a beautiful round baby belly carrying 9 extra lbs AND proud of it!
Umm, no. No one here has intentionally tried to lose weight, just as none of us have tried to *gain* any of the weight we've packed on (I'm in that boat, FYI). Every pregnancy is different, just as every woman and her body are different. Body/weight shaming is just poor taste, and it makes me sick when I see someone doing it. Stop comparing your pregnancy to anyone else's. It's going to look differently across the board.
I am 13 weeks today and I lost a little weight, about 7 pounds. But I did start overweight (175 pounds for 5"4', a healthy weight for me is 140). I did not even puke, but I did eat more healthy and less because I did feel nauseous. It was not intentional, and I stay very well hydrated.
To be honest as long as my doctor is not concerned I am not either.

I've only gained about 10-12 pounds so far. I'm 19weeks 2days right now, and have noticed I've gained a few pounds, then lost a few, then gained a couple. It's been up and down. Keep in mind everyone is different
I promise you I didn't "intentionally" lose weight for the first 17 weeks of my pregnancy. I survived on mashed potatoes (Bob Evans of course) and le seuer peas for 2 weeks because that was all that stayed down. So that 11lbs lost was not "intentional" or me being "trendy". Also, when you go from drinking beer or wine 3 nights a week to not, you're gonna lose weight. ALSO, I gained back to my pre preg weight and only gained 12lbs on top of that. My baby was born 2 days ago at 7lbs 6oz. So don't be judgy. Just don't. Because you could have been one of those ladies who was hospitalized due to their weight loss. BE SUPPORTIVE!!!!

@msuzannah - thank you for writing that. So glad to know im not alone in my struggles with eating disorder issues while trying to maintain a healthy pregnancy! I lost 18 pounds in my first trimester. I couldn't keep anything down. It was horrible and I was miserable. It definitely wasn't some fun, trendy diet plan. Yet, it was so hard not to let it trigger those ED behaviors all over again.
I'm not exactly sure what my weight was pre-pregnancy (especially since we had just gotten back from being in Italy Sept/Oct and did A LOT of eating. I do know that from my 12 week appointment to 16 week appointment I had gained 2 pounds, and the doctor said myself and baby were doing well. I've kept up with working out most days through pregnancy so far although I'm doing less intense workouts. I also have been eating *pretty* healthy, but there's certainly room for improvement. Today I had oatmeal and raspberries and strawberries for breakfast. Leftover spinach salad with salmon, homemade dressing, oranges, almond slivers and pistachios for lunch. I will make a healthy dinner, but it's likely I'll cave and have something not good like cookies or a bagel lol
When I want to give in to the bad food cravings mostly for things like pizza, cookies, bagels, grilled cheese I tend to remind myself that what I'm eating I'm feeding my baby the nutrients from...sometimes it helps sometimes I just eat what I want lol
All I lost was my sanity. I didn't have any MS, so I didn't lose weight at all. I've had pretty much no cravings except for tater tots (thank you, June BMB), but even so, I'm still eating pretty good. I exercise daily, be it walking a couple miles, riding a bike at the gym, or the mass amounts of cardio I get teaching my little students at the ice rink. Guess what?! I've gained nearly 30 pounds in 26 weeks! Do I look fat? no. I look pregnant. And my dr hasn't said anything about my weight (that might change tomorrow.....) yet, other than to go for a walk after any normal meal to help reduce heartburn.

I know how you feel! If you are ever having a hard day and need someone to talk to feel free to pm me! It's nice to have people to go through this with!
@sdLindenbergYes to this! I began my pregnancy in excellent shape. I ran my fastest half marathon of my life on technically "week 2" of my pregnancy. I am still running, I started some very challenging pre-natal strength videos as well. I work out every day harder than most non-pregnant people that I know. I had no morning sickness. I am almost 21 weeks and up 19 lbs. I don't look like it either. I just have a big belly and some huuuuge boobs I didn't have before. I am also 6 ft tall, so I have read conflicting evidence that tall women may gain more. Anyway, I have decided there is nothing I can do about it, because I am being very healthy! This thread made me feel really bad about myself for a while, and then I was like, "Screw that, you are kicking ass." Be careful comparing yourself ladies!
@hannahmp exactly. I've struggled with my weight throughout my teenage years, being a competitive figure skater you need to be tiny. So as a grown adult, I'm embracing my body and the fact that I'll never be a toothpick. As long as your dr isn't concerned with your weight gain, don't stress!! I just talked wth mine at my OB appointment on Tuesday. My 30 pounds is NORMAL!! I've gained and plataued, gained and plataued. You're creating life. You're going to get "fat". Lol.
