@Singingmama10 I hope it goes well for you tomorrow! @pugsandkisses FX for you. I know someone who contracted that while pregnant and she and her baby (now 5!) are totally fine.
@traceylynn366 I got them on Sunday for the first time. I did have a super busy weekend and after working four hours I had dimples where once my ankle bones were. Putting them up cleared it up quickly though
So I was in clinic last week. They gave me a 'allergic reaction rash' patient. I am not supposed to get rashes. It ended up being 5th disease (parvo/slapped disease). Guess who is not immune. .... While very rare, it has been noted to cause issues with baby, including severe anemia and fetal death, especially prior to 20 weeks. Nothing to do but wait to see if I get it or not. And if I do, then I just hope and pray.
What the actual fuck to whoever made that stupid decision. I'm sure you were as careful as humanly possible and that nothing will come of it, but I have my fingers crossed for you.
For all the special snowflakes out there (sorry-not sorry if this has already been posted, too good to not share due to recent events & some good ol' comic relief)
@theshannondee my venue had a +/- 3 dishes incase we had a couple no shows or extras. I would try to go, but if she doesn't have the same rule as my venue, then I would opt out. If you find it's a couple weeks before and you want to go, call her and see if their venue can accommodate.
My random: I locked in our doula! I'm so excited and relieved to have this extra help!
@traceylynn366I had swelling in my feet/legs during second tri with my first pregnancy, and my OB recommended a maternity support belt. It lifts your bump up ever so slightly and takes some of the pressure off of your legs. That seemed to help me until the end, where it was just going to happen regardless!
My random: Is anyone having weird allergic reactions to their rings? I have a combo of white gold and rose gold, and have recently developed a weird rash. I dr googled a bit and saw that white gold may have some nickel in it, and that could be the source of allergic reaction (never had one before)... just curious if any others are in the same boat. Didn't think I'd have to take off my rings this early at 17 weeks.
@PugsandKisses - That's awful I try not to complain about patient assignments either and just hope my coworkers are kind to me. FX everything is fine and you don't get anything. Picking something up at work, especially while pregnant is a huge fear of mine.

My rings are ok, but earrings are bothering me. Most of my earrings are probably nickel. Interesting!

I know someone posted a month or two ago about having a rash from their ring. I'm not sure what is causing your rash, but it could potentially be from moisture/soap getting trapped under your ring when you wash your hands. My mom had this issue, and it cleared up after several days of not wearing her ring. Just another suggestion!
White gold is 53% yellow gold with other metals to give it the white color. Go get it rhodium plated, Jared can do it normally within an hour or so, and it helps with the rashes from it. That normally fixes it. Plus they will paint it on so the rose stays rose colored.

This was not my job, they are awesome about this stuff. Thus was my clinical for FNP. My preceptor is pregnant too. She was pissed.
@jlmartinez517 I told DH the same thing! I love their stuff. We live in Houston, but I've been to Waco, and think "nahhhhh they can keep it". There's a reason people call it Wacko...
Lol @kcossey528 I've never been, but now I'm intrigued! Haha
@Lindsayleigh1989 it would be amazing. Since I know it won't happen, I go into home goods or target and think "what would Joanna Gaines buy?" And go from there lol
@taymiller true! It seems like it has so many amazing antique stores and flea markets nearby though...it's gotta be worth a visit one of these days.
The bummer of the show that I've heard, is that all of the decor is for staging and the clients can choose to purchase after the show to keep or not. I'm not sure if that's a rumor, but how sad to give up all that awesome stuff because you blew your whole budget on the house + remodel?!
@jlmartinez517I think that's how most of the HGTV shows work - Fixer Upper, Property Brothers, and Love It or List It. They give the clients an extra number afterwards which would include all of the furniture. However, I imagine the custom pieces that Joanna has made by her carpenter are probably typically included at least, although I'm not sure!
I have seen people get a house for 25k on that show. Granted it was a total dump but still. I would kill to be able to live in anything for under 300k like where I live.
Anybody else have cankles yet?? Ugh my ankles have been swollen for the past week maybe even two now...not all day usually bad when I get home at night, also fingers are swollen!
@jlmartinez517 UM we adore them. And we are crazy people who actually inquired about them coming to Oregon to build us a house. They would not. I was sad.
Ugh. I had a really rough day today with mom guilt. It must be pregnancy hormones but I've had a really hard time leaving DS at the babysitter to go to work everyday lately. This morning he really wanted to stay home with me and kept saying how much he wanted to stay with me and that I shouldn't go to work. I held it together until I got in the car after I dropped him off and then cried the rest of the way to work. I'm feeling so torn about whether or not to continue to work full time after this baby comes. DH works a lot of hours and the guilt I feel about our DS and future baby spending 10+ hours a day with someone else is really starting to get to me. But part time work is almost nonexistent in my industry and I don't want to stay home full time. Plus I've recently moved jobs to a position that puts me in a way better position to further my career. But I also feel guilty that I don't dedicate enough time/effort to work because whenever DS is sick or has appointments or anything comes up I handle that as it's pretty difficult for DH to leave work for stuff like that. My employer is pretty flexible but I know I'm not putting in as many hours as my coworkers. I just don't know what to do or what the answer is and it's so frustrating.
@silvers626 Sorry you're going through that. I would guess a lot of working moms feel that way at some point. Whether or not you decide to make a change, sounds like you are trying to do what's best for your family. Sometimes that means being away at work to help provide. Hang in there! It's probably a phase for your son and hopefully drop offs won't be tough for too long.
@silvers626 I'm sorry you had a rough day. I am sure whatever choice you make you will do what is best for you and your family.
Although I don't have experience yet (I'm a FTM) my mom was very career oriented while I was growing up and I feel very comfortable saying we turned out great and learned a lot from her work ethic and drive. We are both also extremely close with her (my brother has dinner with her every week, I talk to her several times a day) I hope you have a better day today!
I have officially stopped wearing my wedding ring...I feel naked without it
My husband bought me a simple silver chain for Valentine's Day for when my fingers swell up too much to wear my rings. I haven't had to put them on the necklace yet, but there are definite points in the day when I have to check to make sure I can still take them off... I'm sure I'll be right there with you soon.
@BeachTigress have you looked at Qalo wedding rings? They are silicone bands for active wear, and only about fifteen bucks after shipping. They are certainly not elegant, but they are a nice, comfy alternative for the swelling months. www.qalo.com
Thanks for your comments and support! I do have a lot of time to figure this whole working thing out since I'll have a whole year after baby comes so I just need to put it in perspective and stop stressing myself out. I was hoping today would be better but I think I'm getting the cold DS had over the weekend. He has been feeling better all week and I thought I managed to dodge it but this runny nose, sore throat and headache say otherwise. Pretty sure this week just needs to be over. Boo.
Today my 5 year old asked me if we can get the baby today. So cute. But he clearly doesn't understand how this whole thing works. Ha.
Adorable! I told my immediate family about being pregnant around Christmas, when I was 8 weeks, including my 7 near old niece. I was delaying on telling my extended family until after 12 weeks, but my niece kept urging me "What if you have the baby before then and you never get to tell them this wonderful news first??" Love it!
I sewer this baby just kicked my vagina so hard I almost whelped in pain. When I asked my midwife about it she told me it was normal and it's going to feel like he's trying to claw his way out sometimes... The joys. :-/
