Babies: 0 - 3 Months

c/s mommas...

what did you wear after the c/s?  i was not very smart and never thought i would have to have one, but the baby is too large to pass through my pelvis and so i have a c/s scheduled for tuesday. i'm trying to catch up on all the info i need to know.

Re: c/s mommas...

  • I wore my 2 piece flannel pj set, the waistband is stretchy, and was I was able to just pull it over the incision site. Make sure you ask about an on-q pain system...it made my pain/recovery really great!

  • Steal as many of those mesh underwear that you can from the hospital. I wore those for the first week or so when I got home. Then, get granny panties because the bikini cut was too close to my incision and really hurt until now. It's still uncomfortable 6 weeks later but it's better. Also looser pants for the first few weeks. Anything pressing in that general area hurt for the first month. I'm just now wearing tighter pants and dealing with the discomfort just because I'm sick of wearing yoga/pregnant pants.
  • I wore gauchos and lots of sweats. Loose clothing is your best friend!
  • I wore the stretchiest pj/yoga pants I had, even to leave the house. After a couple of weeks, I felt ok to wear my maternity pants out, because they weren't snug in the incision area. It wasn't much longer before I started wearing regular jeans out of the house because I was never out very long. I still only wear pj pants at home though because a whole day in stiff fabric still makes the incision a little sore.
  • I wore gauchos too. I was fine wearing my regular maternity jeans after a couple days too. I also had some super low cut bikini underwear (I bought a pair too small on accident during the pregnancy) and I wore those the first week until I wasn't so worried about anything touching the incision.
  • In the hospital I just wore hospital gowns.  I agree with PP to take tons of mesh panties home - they are your friend.  I bought a pair of maternity velour pants from Target and have been wearing those ALL the time since.  I also have some maternity pants that I can wear.  My incision has not really bothered me much in the past week or two, but I have not tried on "real" pants.
