Nexplanon Implant

I was wondering how many people had this form of birth control. Do you like it? Hate it? Side effects?

I've heard a lot of people say that they were able to breastfeed again after they got it. I had to stop breastfeeding when my daughter was 2 months because I couldn't produce anymore. I tried everything!!! Fenugreek, mother knows best, chugging water all day long, eggs, oatmeal  (and I hate oatmeal). I tried anything. If it really does restore a lot of mothers milk, then I would be willing to switch birth control and try. I desperately want to breastfeed again;(

Re: Nexplanon Implant

  • Hey there. I got nexplanon when lo was 4 weeks old and he's now 14 weeks old and we are still breastfeeding. I did have some bleeding when I first got it in, for about 2-3 weeks, but when I got it in I was still have pp bleeding. Other than that I've had no side effects and really love it. My arm was bruised like a mo fo when I first got it in but it didn't ever hurt! Good luck :)

I have it and hate it. The insertion was scary for me because I hate needles. They gave me a quick numbing shot (which stung) and the needle to put the implant in was THICK. As thick as a ballpoint pen ink tube. It didn't hurt since I was numb but it was sore for like 2 days.
I don't have any super bad symptoms but the thing I can't stand is my constant spotting. I had my regular period in January and then I randomly started spotting the 2nd week of February and haven't stopped since. If it keeps happening after mid March I might just get it taken out.
Everyone's experience is different and I've never had a good experience with any birth control anyways. Whether it caused constant spotting or made me feel sick, it's always been something.
Good luck! Everyone's experience is different. Hopefully yours will be better.
  • I've got it and I love it. I've had it for 6 weeks and have not had any issues. The bruise looked pretty gnarly but it never hurt. I didnt watch the insertion because im a big baby and hate needles. No mood swings and no weight gain for me, which I've read are the two most common side effects. I bled for about 7 days, post insertion, but no bleeding since. I was super bad at taking pills so... yeah, this works for me. And I'm breastfeeding and have had no supply issues with it.
  • I'm getting mine today and I'm super nervous.  I hate needles

I got mine at 6 weeks post partum and am very happy with it! I understand some people don't like needles, but you just went through LABOR! Everything compared to that is a piece of cake! I like how my doctor put it: "It's even more effective than the pill - no human error! ". Also I am still exclusively breastfeeding and baby is 3 1/2 months.
  • I've had it back to back 3 times, getting it again next Tuesday!
  • I don't like it it's been 3 months now still spotting
