Aw thanks guys! Totally in the pushing 40 club. I have already begun planning a huge 40th bday trip somewhere with H - it makes my getting older MUCH more exciting.
Re: weight concerns - I think we should just all be ok with talking about weight, if it's bothering us. No sense just suppressing it or not bringing it up here if it's really weighing on your mind (pun FULLY intended). Gaining weight, in our weight-obsessed society, is hard and we shouldn't feel bad about ourselves for worrying about it. It is in our faces every day. I 100% fully admire women who are confident enough to embrace the weight gain. Truly - I strive to feel that way. I do sometimes, and other times I don't. I'm a work in progress ;-)
Today I am annoyed that the scale has jumped 4lbs in two weeks. I logically know it's not b/c of my diet as I'm eating normally - but it still bugs me. So, I deal with feeling bad for a bit then focus on feeling better and not stressing. This won't be the last time I get mad about weight, so I like to know we can talk about it when we're feeling anxious.
I'm late to posting today, been a busy morning and will continue to be a busy day here.
How far along are you? 25 w, 1 d
Rant/Rave/Symptoms: Feeling good. Got a great workout in yesterday and the day before and hoping to do the same again today. Workouts really do help me tons with my aches/pains.
What are you doing to prepare for baby? Dropping off our check and application for a daycare waiting list.
GTKY: Who is better with money and finances, you or your SO? Ha! Depends on who is answering the question. H would say he is but I would say I'm pretty good at these things too. I handle the bills and the mundane day-to-day, H loves investing so he takes a lot of that over.
@PBear93@tjenkins528@Kballew10@DeePaddy24 Thanks for weighing in on Kegals! You've made me feel better about my own slacking... I try to remember to do them but honestly I hate doing them... if they really do help yes indeed I think I'm screwed. I like the commercial idea, holding one for that long. I could do that easier than remembering to do sets of 5-10 throughout the day. My cousins wife has 3 reminders set in her phone and does 100 total a day... I'm like what?! She'll probably be in a bikini by 4th of July too (shes due in April) and I'll just be in my moo moo in my 1 week post partum body - but at least I can have wine by then!
@CourtJack I got the Ingenuity Inlighten Cradling Swing/Rocker. It converts from a swing into a rocker, plays music, you can have it play your own music through a phone/ipod if you want. Has a little mobile that lights up. I'm a fan. Obviously I haven't seen it in actual use yet, but I'm glad I got it!
@PBear93: Thanks, I've read that as well. That's one thing that's given me pause on the the webcam/phone option. On the other hand, our home wifi is encrypted, so we run the same risk of hacking exposure to a wifi webcam as we do to other personal information send via our internet. Eh. In all honesty I'll probably just register for a video monitor to avoid any foo-foo in setting up the DIY version
Oh my goodness I started this post at 8:15 this morning!! Crazy day at work!
How far along are you? 22+2
Rant/Rave/Symptoms: Rave: My DH is the cutest...told me yesterday not to open the door for strangers when I am home alone...crazy, but sweet...lol. He likes to talk to the belly too
What are you doing to prepare for baby? sleeping, eating...the usual
RANT/Questions? Does anyone have days where they just don't really feel pregnant?? For me today is one of those days...I just feel like I got fatter. I feel like a crazy pregnant person though because I get anxious about the fact that I have very little pregnancy specific symptoms. I have my next OB appt next week so hopefully it will put me at ease, but since my last appt. I have gained less than half a pound and still cannot feel anything specifically baby moving. I say I am crazy though because there is no reason other than the above for me to be worried and those things are so minimal compared to the awful things that I know so many of you are experiencing.
GTKY: Who is better with money and finances, you or your SO?
My DH is in charge of paying all the bills now that we are married and bought a house. I think we both have our own strengths...he is really good at long term planning, but also needed to buy the Rolls Royce of snowblowers...I am really good when it comes to saving for specific goals. He is the big picture and I am the short term. I think we make a good team. Even each other out.
@CourtJack Thank you for saying that about the weight gain issue. I really never thought it would be such a big deal because I always told myself I would realize it was necessary for the baby. I do realize that but it's way harder mentally and emotionally than I ever imagined. And I hate when you try to talk to someone about it and they just blow you off because you're pregnant.
Rant/Rave/Symptoms: Too tired to rant or rave today. Wait...no. I made tater tot hot dish last night and it was delicious. Symptoms: EXTREME fatigue today!! I got plenty of sleep, so I don't know but I can hardly stay awake today.
What are you doing to prepare for baby? Researching baby video monitors. I totally think an audio monitor is enough but DH insists on a video monitor so he's taking the reins on that one.
GTKY: Who is better with money and finances, you or your SO? I think I am. DH loves to buy shit we don't REALLY need and it bugs me. Neither of us are really great at budgeting though. Working on it.
Happy birthday @Courtjack. Yay for Pisces! I'm realizing lately how many Pisces friends I have. @Palisson morning sickness AFTER giving birth sounds like a nightmare!
@arteduc8 Is the student with Whooping Cough still coming to
school?? You’d think they could make an exception for a pregnant teacher and at
least tell you if it is a student in your class if not exactly which student.
No, I don't think the student is in school until their doctor clears them to return as it can be so contagious. They can't tell us who the student is based on HIPPA laws. They can't even tell us if the kid is in our class because it could pinpoint them, giving away right to privacy. I teach in a large high school, so I'm just hoping its one of the 2,000 other kids in the school and not one of my 125. I've been keeping my distance from any sick kids (seriously, why do people send sick kids to school!?!?!) and washing my hands like crazy, using hand sanitizer. I've made it through the sick season this far, just hoping I can make it the rest of the year without getting a bug from one of them. Fortunately 11 years of teaching has built my immune system up pretty well. I don't even get colds anymore!
@crdo I think they can see that there is data being sent over wifi and can hack that signal without having to hack your actual wifi network. I might be wrong, but I think that's how my dad explained it to me.
@SMLmom & @MamaNicoleof3 It's called postpartum nausea and it was like the morning sickness just never ended. Now I read that it is correlated with postpartum depression. But it was between 9am and 11am every morning, without exception, until AF returned.

Being a woman is magical!
This is my only pregnancy where my MS just hasn't gone away, so I realllllly hope I'm not cursed with postpartum nausea. But, I haven't dealt with PPD, either, so.....
WAIT. morning sickness can last beyond pregnancy? What kind of fresh hell is that???
ahhh I'm trapped. Anyway thanks mama! And I too am curious about the solly wrap. I definitely want it for summer wearing but $65 bucks-it better be worth it. And I'm assuming $65 US - so probably.....oh $300 or so CDN.
GTKY: Who is better with money and finances, you or your SO?
23 weeks
Symptoms? I'm feeling better than I was last week when I was sick, but I still have the swollen lymph nodes. Doctor set up an appointment for me to have them US'd down in LA soon. I've had a breast biopsy before with a benign tumor, but I'm nervous. I know I'm "young" (35) but my mom, maternal aunt, and maternal grandmother all had breast cancer, and it's scary! Ya know? And my aunt wasn't MUCH older than I am now.
Preparing for baby? I'm still not doing anything to prepare. Not really. There's not much to do for this STM.
GTKY: IDK. It's hard to say. I grew up poorer than he did, with the most frugal mother in the universe, and then I was a "starving college student" who really had to keep it all within a budget, and couldn't afford a burrito at Taco Bell. DH went from college into the millitary and has since then usually had a steady, nice, income. This hasn't always been the case for me, so I'm not used to spending money, where he's a little more free about it, while still being responsible. He's a math teacher now, so he's definitely better with NUMBERS than I am. (Not that numbers and money are the same things, but you gotta admit being a math person does help with finances.) I'm an English major.
