I'm being silly, right?

I need some outside opinions, please. If this baby turns out to be a girl, my husband loves the name Nadia. I love it too, but I have a silly issue that is keeping me hesitant about it.

My husband and I are Caucasian. My family heritage is German; his is Polish and German. To me, Nadia just feels like a foreign, exotic sort of a name. It's beautiful, but I keep picturing the name on someone with an accent. It feels like an unusual choice for a white girl from the Midwest.

This is ridiculous, right? Nadia is very popular in Eastern Europe, and my husband is 3/4 Polish, so it isn't even like we're choosing a name that doesn't match our ethnicity.

Our daughter's name is Bianca, so I feel like the sib-set works pretty well. What do you think?

I don't think it's any different than Bianca. I love Bianca it was almost DD's name but we went with a different name Giada instead. I love Nadia and wouldn't hesitate to use it!

That's true, and my husband always points out that Bianca is a traditionally Italian name, which doesn't match our heritage at all.

I get where you're coming from but I think you should use it for sure! It's beautiful. Nadine is another option which sounds "less exotic" to me. I think Nadia sounds way better though.

I've personally seen this name being used in a lot of different countries, for girls with a lot of varying heritages. For me it's absolutely not bound to a certain background or ethnicity. And I think it works well with your sibset. If you love it, go for it!

I was also going to suggest Nadine, but really there is nothing that should prevent you from using Nadia.

I don't know your age, but for me in the 80's yes... this name would've been exotic. It's how we grew up with Nadia Comeneci and all that.

But 30 or so years later? Not so much at all. The way you were talking, I would've expected your other DD to have a name like Sarah. Not Bianca. Bianca and Nadia go beautifully together.

Bianca is BEAUTIFUL and Nadia goes well with it. I mean yeah, I agree with the mysterious foreign stranger vibe it has but is that so bad? There is an appeal about people like that.

They both sound like girls you meet on a train in eastern europe. I love them.
