    FTM question. I am due 7/2 and my cousin is getting married 8/5. Invites are going out soon and I know she will need to know if we're attending. Thoughts on taking a little little one to a wedding? Is that even healthy/safe for my guy? I won't really have a good babysitting option given that who I trust him with will be at the wedding. Of course I have the option of not going but I am curious of what people think as far as bringing a newborn...

    I was supposed to go to a wedding of a really good friend (the date of the wedding was 3 weeks after my due date.) My husband was in the wedding. It was a few hours away. I REALLY REALLY wanted to go. While I was pregnant, I tried to work out the details. I thought about bringing my mom along to stay at the hotel with the baby, but I ended up RSVPing no. It was a really tough decision. 

    On that day, home with a 3 week old baby, I was so very glad to not have to drive 2 hours and go to a wedding. I was still in some pain, was very new at nursing, and on very little sleep. Re: your question about healthy and safe: Some pediatricians advise keeping the baby at home for around 6 weeks (until they build up a little immunity of their own.)

    This is just my experience! It's a tough choice.

    @theshannondee how far away is the wedding? Is it 2 hours vs 10 mins. I don't actually know (ftm) but I would think there is a big difference between 10 mins and 2 hours at that point. If it's close maybe you can go to the ceremony and not the reception or vice versa? It may be a long day for you to do both.

    @givemepenguinss @mckcak23  so the wedding is in town probably within a half hour of our house. I am feeling like its a "no" to be on the safe side but I would hate to miss out. Thanks for the insight ladies.

    I've done it. I (and my 2 toddlers) were in the wedding. Hubby sat in the bride's section with the baby during the ceremony. I was able to nurse the baby before and after in the dressing room (since I basically had to take off my dress to do so lol.) But we didn't hang out for the reception. Too long with all those people.

    @theshannondee I'm not sure what the schedule will be like, but maybe you could take the baby with you to the ceremony, and then your parents or in-laws would be able to go to the ceremony but might consider taking the baby for the reception portion of the evening? I remember a couple of my friends doing that for my wedding - they and their parents came to the ceremony, but then the parents took the little ones home for the evening. Maybe that's not something you feel comfortable suggesting, but it's something I see my parents offering if they realized I wasn't going to go. But to PP's point, you may not feel up to it and end up thankful you replied that you must regretfully decline. Also, you'd want to get the advice of your doctor/your LO's pediatrician about being out and about at 4 weeks. With it not being cold season, maybe they'd say it's fine so long as you don't let a bunch of people hold LO and take proper precautions if it's an outdoor ceremony.

    I've had a stressful month after being dx with complete previa and had to rule out vasa previa (don't google it's scary). I just want shit to calm down already and I want lots of wine.

    @theshannondee I am a MOH (there's actually two of us that are) three and a half weeks after my due date. It is an exceptionally close friend but as it stands I plan on going and bringing my little guy (it is also a non traditional wedding). I did have a conversation with her that things could change and I might not be able to go or only do the ceremony, etc

    I would go to the wedding. Also if your doctor says not to leave your house for X amount of time get a new doctor (unless you have a premie)! Do you have a carrier? If not I would look into getting one and wear them the whole time. They will likely be quieter/happier and you can descretely breastfeed if that's what you are doing. Totally doable!

    My random is, I'm slightly obsessed with Ghost Adventures but... I'm a huge pussy so I have to watch it during the day and I prefer to watch with someone else.... FH thinks it's hilarious that I get so scared so easily but, I have always believed in spirits and he doesn't.

    @theshannondee If I was at all close to that cousin, I would try to go at least for the ceremony. I agree with pp that you should consider baby wearing. It will discourage people from touching baby if you are concerned about germs. Obviously, you'll have to see how things go and hopefully your cousin is flexible in case you decide not to go for whatever reason.

    My random is I want to give a shot out to whoever recommended the podcast called fear free birth with Alicia leechman (sp?) I've tried to search many different things but can't figure it out.  If anybody is feeling anxious about birthing, listen to this podcast!!!!  And kudos to whoever posted this to begin with!!!!

    So I was in clinic last week. They gave me a 'allergic reaction rash' patient.  I am not supposed to get rashes. It ended up being 5th disease  (parvo/slapped disease). Guess who is not immune. ....
    While very rare, it has been noted to cause issues with baby, including severe anemia and fetal death,  especially prior to 20 weeks. 
    Nothing to do but wait to see if I get it or not. And if I do, then I just hope and pray. 
    Thank God for Raid.

    Anybody else have cankles yet?? Ugh my ankles have been swollen for the past week maybe even two now...not all day usually bad when I get home at night, also fingers are swollen!

    @PugsandKisses  So scary! T&P's that you don't get it! One of the moms on my last bmb did get it though, and her and baby were just fine. Still super scary though!
