If it makes them happy

I needed a fun thread because I woke DS up while cleaning like a maniac @10 pm.

What's something strange or over the top you did / do to amuse / settle your LO?

I took a HUGE and heavy mirror down and set it propped against the living room wall because DS loves to look at himself. I'm talking 5' wide almost 4' high, has to be anchored to wall studs. A smaller mirror might have sufficed but now DS can look @ himself head to tow in his little chair

Re: If it makes them happy

  • DS is obsessed with peekaboo even at 15 months and it's escalated to hide and seek. He also loves being startled. So I run around the apartment and hide, call him so he'll search, then jump out and startle him. He always squeals and giggles so hard. He also loves ketchup and dipping everything he can in it, his current favorite is green beans dipped in ketchup. Then the little piggies. He will put my hand on his toes so I'll do the little piggies over and over and over again.

For DD the only mirror we have is over the bathroom sink. I'll hold her up lion king style so she can be face to face with her reflection to grin and chatter away.

  • This thread just made me crack up! I needed that at 5 am while pumping :)
  • @Court11152325Ooooh the songs about pooping!
  • We're wearing the blowdryer out! And my vacuum has never been used so much  :D
  • @phillipsbr There's an app for that ;)

    Lisa Kudrow.

    Seriously.

Lisa Kudrow's voice is magic. I'd invite her over to "see Olive" but i don't think I could afford her. So we have watched the entire Friends series on netflix.

    Three times.
  • @groovylocks that's awesome,  she was in another show recently if you are sick of friends (I could never be sick of Friends but I'm weird). Maybe to Olive LK sounds like you?

Never thought of that before! I don't think we sound much alike but.. maybe it's possible.

My son is almost 3 and still loves hide and seek/us popping out and startling him! He can play for HOURS and laughs uncontrollably the whole time. And the little piggies lol
  • DS could lay on the changing table all day and stare at the wall. I have a decorative wooden frame up there that I painted that has the letter L in it for his name and he is so mesmerized by it.

  • DS loves the changing table, especially when I sing to him.
  • DS loves the changing table too because his light up blue star hangs on the wall above it. Best $10 bucks I have ever spent at ikea.
  • Carlos LOVES staring at blank walls. It actually is starting to scare me that he can see ghosts or something.

He also likes mirrors so he can stare at the blank wall behind him.
  • Changing table, hands down. And bouncing on the exercise ball, much to mom and dad's dismay (our backs are in knots!).
  • My husband sometimes has to jog back and forth thru our room(we have a really small room too lol) she won't let me do that too. I'll have to bounce on the edge of our bed to keep her mellow sometimes.
  • She loves specifically the lion on her mobile, not the elephant, and the butterfly on her tummy time mat!
She also requires Mommy to walk up and down the stairs until she dozes off, and if I set her down before she's completely asleep we have to go through the whole process over again! Hopefully breastfeeding plus this work out will help me back to my original size in no time!!!!
  • @sassypants13 I wouldn't do it while holding baby but there's an exercise you can do with the ball that might help your back. Starting sitting on it; slowly walk your feet forward as you lean back until you're laying bridged with upper back supported by the ball, body parallel with the floor, knees bent 90 degrees and spread to about shoulder width. It's amazingly comfortable. Just hold it a few seconds and walk back up to sitting. It will help strengthen the muscles for posture and make sitting on the ball easier over time but also work out some kinks.
  • Loves when I lay on my stomach next to him on his for tummy time. My c section incision is still sensitive but whatever it takes.
Warning No formatter is installed for the format bbhtml
  • @Court11152325 my mamaroo will be here tomorrow and for the sitters sake I hope she loves it!
  • Currently sitting upright in bed while DS sleeps on my chest. He's got some
nasty snot in his nose that I'm not getting out with the Nose Frida and he sleeps better (and his nasal passages clear) when he's more upright on me. If it makes him happy/whatever it takes to get him to sleep...
