How long after an internal sono did you start to spot?

Hi girls,

I'm somewhere between 10 and 11 weeks and had an internal soon this morning (9:30ish). Just now (12 hours later) I've got some brown mucousy discharge (so sorry for the TMI). Everything I've seen online says they started spotting right away - did it happen later for anyone else? We miscarried just a few months ago so I am so extra paranoid :(

  • I haven't spotted but with my first ultrasound this pregnancy I saw mucousy discharge right about 12-14 hours later so it can take a while to come out. I would still call the doctor in the morning just to let them know but I wouldn't worry about it unless it doesn't stop.

  • Thanks for that! Very reassuring.

    I'm being an annoying patient this time :/. The miscarriage caught us SO off guard after 2 perfectly healthy pregnancies/babies that I just can't get it together this time. I've already had 3 sonos at 10/11 weeks and we've got another one scheduled for 2 weeks from now. Everything was totally healthy and perfect with the scan this morning. I've had spotting and cramping for weeks now and we talked about it this morningand he couldn't find any cause, so he basically told me not to worry about it. I'd feel like a squawky obnoxious bird if I called them again :/ especially after he told me I was fine.

  • Awww, that makes sense. I swear sometimes I feel the same way. I had a loss before this pregnancy and I've had 3 ultrasounds too and I'm only 9w4d (and have another one tomorrow morning!). I've been calling with concerns and they had to see me today after I called--yet again--about a potential UTI. The order for the antibiotics got messed up and I had to page my doc after hours and I cried because I felt like I'm always bothering them! LOL I would just relax and monitor it then. If it increases, definitely call, but I would think the old blood was probably lodged up there and the mucous dragged it out (sounds ew but likely).

  • I'm having the same issue. Had an internal sono and exam yesterday @ 9 wks and just started seeing some brownish/light pink spotting tonight. I'm so paranoid I've spent the entire evening in bed resting.
  • Both times I had an internal scan done I spotted that day's few hours after my appointment .
    The internal scan hurt like the tech was very rough or maybe I'm just really sensitive in the nether regions during this time?

    I had already been to the ER with lots of bleeding . Threaten mc so I was really concerned.

    but I called the dr office after the last scan and they said its common to have brown discharge afterwards .
  • I am right there on the paranoid train with you star. Did it go away?

    @cassandeaspregnacy2 - thank you!

  • I had dark brown discharge (some dark red as well) for almost two weeks after my internal and I was 5 wks 4 days. I freaked out and asked around. Of course none of my friends had experienced this. My doctor told me it was an early pregnancy and that we would just have to wait and see. I'm now 11 weeks today and saw a healthy heartbeat on my last US 2/17, so don't worry. Everyone's body reacts differently to that procedure.
