Increased blood flow makes sense, I guess I knew there was a big artery there but I've never before been able to feel it. And this pulsing is sometimes so strong that I confuse it for baby movements! If it weren't a clear regular beat I would definitely think it was the baby. It's like having a second heart right behind my bellybutton, but crazier because I can't feel my heart beat inside my chest (without touching my chest with my hand)!
    Yes .. All of this!
Sometimes my heart is pumping so hard that if my arms are at my sides I can feel it tapping the side of my arm through my rib cage. Palpitations to the extreme. I also feel my pulse in my finger tips at all times. It's very annoying and weird.

  • @chill73084 I fucking love you for this! I just found 10 that work in our budget and are cute!  :*
  • @chill73084 @blissylissy86 so excited! I was hopeless we'd ever find one we could afford...until now!  <3
  • @jlmartinez517 seriously! All the ones I have seen in stores started at $400, which is ridiculous.
  • Ugh, DH had the day off and he is in total "get organized nesting" mode. I worked all day and I am still in "sleep every possible moment because this pregnancy is sucking the life" from me mode. He wants to talk about chore and responsibilities and is starting to do a major purge of all our crap which is good but I just can't right now. I told him to bring me a bowl of ice cream (I'm in bed) and then leave me alone. He rolled his eyes and left and I have no ice cream. WTF.
  • Our power that went out at lunch is not expected back on until late tomorrow night. Wahhh.

  • So this is weird. For several weeks (I'm 19 weeks now) I have been getting yellowish crust on my nipples and they have a calliflower texture to them. I looked online and most posts suggest it's colostrum leaking and drying, but they are never wet or sticky. And it's not waxy either. It literally seems like dried skin but yellowish... Anyone else? Sorry if this is gross.
  • Sounds like dried milk

Sounds like milk. Someone else just posted about this on the symptoms thread.
  • I've had that for awhile too, I asked my midwide and she said its milk.
  • Seeing a Girl Scout cookie sale just made me incredibly excited. :-D
  • I got home, determined that if I wanted to eat the entire box of Girl Scout cookies, I would damn it. Then I sat down and ate 5. FIVE! And I'm over it. I waited this long for cookies that have lost their appeal.

We bought our dresser for the nursery at ikea tonight + wall shelves...and of course I had to get a frozen yogurt cone on the way out!
  • So I let DH out of a surprise birthday party a friend of ours was having as he would know practically no one there I also wasn't going to know many but I do better in that sort of situation and with his introverted socially shy behaviors I said hey that's okay.

Low and behold I come home tired and just wanting to relax for the evening to find he had gone through a bunch of my stuff to "organize and clean" since apparently I haven't. He has never once cared about either of our stuff on this book shelf and he knows I have big personal space issues with people going through my things and this is not a new conversation! I immediately burst into tears and flipped out and demanded an apology because I didn't think letting him out of an event he would have hated was the go ahead to violate my stuff and space.

Im currently hiding from him in the bathroom because he just won't stop!

  • So our original plan was to have a queen bed for guests in the same room as the second baby room I figured it was no big deal because the queen bed didn't fit down the basement stairs and we only have a three bedroom. Well hubby freaked out today saying it's like we didn't want two kids because we aren't making room for them blah blah blah. He was so upset by this and explained it was his way of nesting... Ok so now we are having to find a place to store a queen bed  and possibly repaint the room we painted a year ago because depending on the sex a girl can't have a green room... Oiy I though I was the hormonal girl in this relationship! At least he cares right?
    Thanks for reading my rant!
  • @Puddles03 If we're talking mint green or a pastel green, that totally works. It's a neutral color that you can use for a theme. Woodland creatures is pretty popular. Mermaid/under the sea would work. Dr Seuss wouldn't look as good on a pink room. Hunter green/crayola green would be a bit heavy though.
  • @pandaferh it's a lighter moss/earthy green, and in my opinion great for a jungle or woodland green. (I mean I love the colour because I picked it out!) but nope, our daughters room is light purple (the way we bought the house) so if we have another girl I know he is going to push for a pink room. I secretly hope it's a boy so I don't have to repaint it... Lamest reason for a specific sex I know.
  • Lol. An episode of Reign is what changed my mind on ever wanting a girl. Also, my nursery is grey because it was my office and I had already gotten around to painting three of the walls grey when we found out. How much longer until you guys find out, or are you going to?
  • @rlopezlavalle - yes! Wth is that stuff?
  • Feel so upset right now...my good friend had a baby shower today.  She is 27 weeks pregnant with twins.  When I walked in she told me she felt like she was going into labor.  She went on with the shower and when I left I sent her a text making sure she was ok and wishing her a happy birthday (it was her bday today too) and sure enough she said she went to the hospital.  Three hours later I get a text saying she WAS in labor and had an emergency c-section.  Twins were both 2 lbs and she doesn't know how they are doing yet since they wont let her see them.  My heart hurts for her, I cant even imagine what she feels like and what she is going to have to go through the next few months or so. :(
  • @lolomommy1 oh my gosh! I hope those babies are ok! I can't even imagine. I will say an extra prayer for them all tonight.
  • @lolomommy1
From what I've read, babies born between 27-30 weeks have a 95% survival rate. That is good news. It will be complicated, scary and hard, but she should make it through this with two beautiful babies and that is the most important part. I'm don't know how to comfort people who are hurting, so I usually stay quiet when  conversations like this happen, but I just wanted to say that.
  • I am not sure if babies r us is still having their trade in sale.  You could trade that in and get 20% off a new one?!

I dont know how to comfort people when things like this happen either, but im trying to really be there for her since she is from England and live in the U.S. so isn't around family.  Luckily shes got a good group of friends through our work and we are all offering help and support.  I seriously cant even imagine how scary it must be.  Im just waiting for an update because the last I heard from her was last night when she still didn't know much and was just waiting to find out how they were doing. I cant stop thinking about her, I did research on the situation last night and you are right there is a good survival rate...but at 27 weeks being the low end of the spectrum I know its going to be quite a process.
  • I haven't felt my baby much in the past few days. Normally he's super active but lately it's just been a very few soft kicks here and there.. At what point should I get worried?
  • @Shelby00519 When the castle was broken into in the second season. I had a heart stopping, life changing realization that holy crap, that can even happen to a queen. No one is safe. And then suddenly, 5 years of wanting a girl was gone. I know it's fiction, but the possibility had never occurred to me before.

@lolomommy1 I'm glad she has a decent support system here. To me, that is the second worst thing that can happen in a pregnancy and just hearing it happened to someone else had my anxietyset to high. Hubs had to talk me down last night because I was so worried.
  • Also, hubs felt movement last night!!! I was taking a bubble bath and realized I could see my belly moving with some of the movements.  Got into bed and the little guy went nuts. Hubs had his arm thrown over me and felt like 5 movements in just two or three minutes. It was awesome.

Also, @Shelby00519 , it's supposed to be sporadic at this point. There will be times he is as active as I just described and kick so hard I jump. Then I won't feel anything for a day or two. They sleep something like 12-14 hrs a day right now and if they are facing the other direction you won't be able to feel it. Your little one will turn around soon and surprise the crap out of you
  • I painted the nursery yesterday which was super exciting! Then my husband and went to Buy Buy Baby to start our registry. Omg. I'm so overwhelmed. There are so many decisions and choices! We were there for 2.5 hours and had to stop. We'll be back...

She's going to need your support. It's a really weird time. It's SO HARD to walk out of that hospital without a baby. And she's going to be constantly attached to that pump if she wants to provide breastmilk now or breastfed later. So if you can, provide food. Or gift cards to Starbucks, subway etc...

Now, I don't meat to down play it, but her babies' odds are  good these days. Do they lose some? Yes. I saw a set of twins born a few days before my oldest. One was pretty healthy and one struggled. The healthy one caught an infection and died about 6 weeks in. But at 10 weeks, the other was able to go home on oxygen. But my daughter was a 27 weeker. She had a very smooth 10 week stay in the NICU. No complications. She learned to breastfeed and I nursed her for 2 years. And she was the healthiest baby in the world. And I promise that is the more normal story. It's just a long, tough journey. And she'll need you.
  • Had the most productive weekend ever - this LO's nursery has been our guest room and catch-all room for the past year or so, so we'd accumulated sizable mounds of crap in there. The closet specifically was used to store all of our linens - extra bedding + pillows and towels/wash cloths - plus my random craft projects. Friday night while DS was taking his bath, since I was just sitting there watching him play, I re-organized the bathroom closet and cleared off enough shelf space to fit all of the towels. Then yesterday DH and I went through the rest of the stuff in the room and figured out where everything needed to go. It's COMPLETELY cleared out now, so DH put up the crib! Everything became really real after I sat down in the glider and looked around at the new furniture/room set-up.
