Intelligender test?

I am 15 weeks pregnant with our first child and we are dying to know the gender! We are going to an army hospital which means it will be another few months before we find out the gender. Has anyone ever taken the intelligender test? What are your thoughts on it?

Re: Intelligender test?

  • It is a scam.  Please don't waste your money.

  • Another few months?! Bummer. I understand being anxious, because it IS exciting, but I wouldn't waste my money on one of those tests.
  • yeah, things like that i wouldn't be wasting my money on. i agree it's exciting & hard to be patient for, but you could use that money for a lot more important things.
  • It has a 50% chance of being right. I don't get it, if you get a boy/girl result, what would you do with that 'information '? Go shopping for that sex?

Just wait and save for $40  for something useful for baby.
    Thank God for Raid.

  • I am sure there are some online sites on how to practice patience.......try that first.

Intelligender (and OWT) are ridiculous. You can wait until your anatomy scan, and even sometimes those are wrong. The only thing 100%, is looking between the legs after baby is born.

  • Why another couple of months? I thought most A/S were performed between weeks 18-22.
  • @MommyOfBabyG sorry you have to wait I have never heard of anyone having to wait longer than a/s window which is usually 18-22 as pp mentioned. I personally would never trust the intelligender test but if you are willing and financially it's okay for you two, you could look into getting an elective ultrasound done at boutique place if there are any around you but I still would not go until after 16-17 weeks :)

hope you get some answers that are helpful and find a good solution but please don't do the test if you are looking for a 100%accurate answer

Personally OP, I would avoid having any non medically necessary ultrasounds done. I know you're eager to find out but those elective ultrasounds are not recommended. Here is an article if you'd like to read more, just something to think about.

  • I agree with the post above, to not go to a unlicensed sonogram place, but most doctor offices have 3d ultrasounds that you can pay out of pocket for if you really want to know sooner. They cost about $125 here in Ohio, and are given to you by the same trained staff that give you the standard ultrasounds.

  • The way I see if you have at most 7 weeks until your anatomy scan, so not months, more like month and a half.  Just wait until the scan, intelligender isn't going to tell you anything that a coin can't.

Wow!! I only paid $79 for my 3D at an OB office. It included a bunch of awesome keepsakes too.
  • For those of you that asked about why it would be so long, it is because it is an army hospital and they are very backed up so if you are not a high priority you will be at the bottom of the list.

@alyllyra I asked about the time frame Bc I had two and was told it is Bc the bone density increases after 22 weeks, casting shadows on ultrasounds that make getting the right measurements difficult, so it's generally considered not useful after that for getting good views of organs + bone measurements. Not sure how long 'a few months' is for OP, but that sounds like it would be just a general growth scan rather than a detailed A/S maybe?
  • Just mail your money to me. I can tell you with 75% accuracy if your baby has a penis or vagina ;)
  • I tried the intelligender for fun since my friend works at cvs and gave me her discount.  It was easy to take and indicated girl which we found out 2 weeks later was accurate. But i wasnt banking on that being 100% accurate and getting my hopes up. After what feels like a million negative pregnancy tests, i learned not to bother getting excited by a result on something i peed on and its best to wait for a doctors opinion

IDK if you can do a 3D ultra sound, you might be able to see if there is a lil wienie or not
  • My husband and I did one just for fun. My daughter has said since she found out that baby is a girl and since she knew I was pregnant before we did, we figure we're just gonna go with her 4yr old intuition ;) The test was fun and it did indicate 'girl'. We'll find out for sure at our 20wk scan March 8th.

As long as you're taking it for fun and not putting a lot of stock into it, I say go for it.

  • I can agree with you on the whole military hospital not providing timely ultrasounds. I'm high risk and they even wanted to push some of mine out. If it is not "medically needed" then they don't need to provide you with one. Going to a base hospital isn't the same as going to a obgyn and having an appointment. You get seen when you get seen and it doesn't need to be every four weeks and if you have issues it can take them up to three days to give you a call back. It's ridiculous. I eventually got transferred off base but I've heard of people going for these elective ultrasounds. The base said they are safe and those people are just as qualified as base to tell you the sex. Also I opted for a panorama dna test, you could ask for that it only takes 10-16 days to come back and it'll test for a lot of genetic disorders and tell you the sex. Real simple two tubes of blood and it gets shipped out. Tricare covered it so I don't see why you wouldn't be able to.
