We are going with a western feel. I'm a barrel racer so i'm hoping my love of horses gets passed on. I don't like really over the top kind of stuff. I'm a simple elegance type of person. I just ordered the furniture today (crib and dresser as shown), and having someone one Etsy make the blanket, skirt, rail guard, changing pad and boppy covers (colors as shown).
@TheHauntedHauswife check out moona fabrics shop on etsy and Emmy grace brand fabric collections on etsy, a lot of stuff like that. I love the purples in yours!
Ugh, I've tried to love everyone's pictures bc they are all so great, but every time I try to go to one of the other pages on this thread my app crashes...so I love EVEYONE'S ideas!
@mrsschmity love those crib sheets! Have you considered a teal, aqua or mint to balance the warm tones? I also like the idea of an orange/teal combo with those neutrals, too. Here are my general inspiration pictures. Right now everything is on hold while I figure out paint. Also, I won this bedding in a giveaway last year, so I'll need to unbeige things a bit just in case we have a girl.
What do you guys think? These are the two colors my sister helped me pick out today. One of them will be an accent wall. The warm golden color draws out that color in the sheets, and I figure the gray blue color is neutral enough that I can do pretty much anything with it as far as decor and accents go. I really love teal / coral accents and want to be able to tie at least one of those two in with accents and decor. Most of the furniture will be a darker finish, and I'm repainting all the trim in white.
I'm a very visual person so it's hard for me to imagine until I actually get the walls painted with the furniture in place.
We are doing a fireman theme (DH is a fireman), here are a few pictures on what we are planning on! My mom is making the bedding but these are the pics I gave her
Y'all have inspired me to create a vision board! This is what I have in my mind. The only thing we have purchased so far is the crib, paint...and the wood for the ceiling.
So I am sure many know this but I actually didn't being a FTM I assumed the popular things were safe for cribs. Bumpers on cribs while babies sleep is actually unsafe. I don't judge or push anything I just didn't know so I thought I would share.

Yes! We didn't use one until mine were much older and could sit up and crawl. Mainly so they didn't hit their head at night (my little men move alot!). We are going to do a teething guard this time around instead, just as cute and not dangerous at all
Super excited I scored my girl nursery bedding for 25% off this weekend!! Now I have both sexes covered for nursery bedding! I also included some pics of the theme we are going with if its a girl! (That I'll be ordering off etsy from the hospital!) lol
This is our nursery from last time, we were team green then (and are again). Once I posted the pictures on Facebook though, I had a few friends message me and ask if we knew if we were having a boy and just not telling anyone. Nope, we really didn't know...and we ended up having a girl. We are keeping the nursery the same, the room is just full of stuff right now. We didn't do anything overly exciting.
This is the crib my uncle built for us. He used directions from a magazine and it meets all current standards for cribs. I LOVE it and love how special it is that is was made just for our kids and that we will be able to use it for years and years since it converts to a toddler bed with a rail and then to a full size bed.
We LOVE these cube organizers from IKEA, we have 6 of them of various sizes throughout our house.
We got a rocker/recliner from Lay-Z-Boy and I am so glad we went that route instead of a traditional glider since we spent many nights sleeping in the chair.
So my little girl's nursery is making a lot of progress. I hit up Land of Nod a couple of weekends ago and got the crib sheets and changing pad cover (feathers) shown below. I plan to buy the felt bunting to hang somewhere, too. I also just spent yesterday and this morning creating some cute woodland illustrations for the frames above the dresser. Sent them off to my printer this morning and can't wait to swap them into the white frames above the dresser. Where I'm stuck and need advice is on what to do above the crib. The images currently there (shown in the pictures at the bottom) were leftover from my office pre-nursery. I like the idea of a larger print or something with her name (yet to be decided). Anyone have any good inspiration or ideas for artwork for over the bed? We're also thinking a growth chart next to the crib. My original vision board:

@MsBeachNJ you are my decorating soulmate. I love the mermaid poster. Also, @DeePaddy24 and @laurenm2123 yours are coming along very nicely! I need to go take a pic of mine now since we had the crib and dresser delivered over the weekend.
Help!!!! Am I completely insane to get a beige or grey glider chair? Will I regret the decision due to throw up/stains? They also have brown as a color choice but I don't really care for brown.
So you have a point of reference, the nursery wall color is currently a greyish-blue color I love, the crib is white and this is the bedding we love....H and I used elephant favors in our wedding because elephants are good luck in India and baby will be half Indian after all. I don't like the light brown furniture they have pictured below though and was thinking of sticking with white or grey furniture. Thoughts? Ideas? HEEEEELP....I'm color challenged.
@mkemommy I haven't ordered our glider yet but I'm going with a light color too... I don't like dark colors for a baby, too harsh. My sister had a beige one & then she got it re- apohlstered for her 2nd kid in a grey, so I feel like that's always an option if it gets dirty?

eta: cute bedding!
I didn't even think of that! Re-upholstering would be a possibility I guess if it got too dirty. I agree with you on dark colors though. I love some pop of bright color (which is why I love that bedding) but the goal for the nursery for me is otherwise soft and soothing.
@mkemommy I too really love the idea of a light beige chair but know it will get dirty between kid and dogs. I like the idea of gray since it would hide stains. The nursery works empire rocker is really nice and I've seen it on some clearance sites for not a bad price and they have different grays. Also, I've heard great things about rockers from PBK and they make a navy that is really nice.
@mkemommyThis is the fabric I am using for my chair. So, I'm going with beige, too, it's just not super light beige. I think grey or white or a combination for the furniture would look good for your nursery given your bedding preferences.
@arteduc8 maybe you could get letters from a craft store and cover them in fabric or scapbook paper and hang over the bed. I'm sure you could find woodland you could use. Could even add little animal she's to them letters
@mkemommy I love the white or grey furniture with the elephants. Adorable!
THANK you ladies. You all have reassured me. The more I think about it and read your opinions, the more inclined I am to go with the grey. It is a light grey so won't hide too much but it will hide more than white and it will match the walls....the grey is almost exactly what I would call an elephant grey actually (ironically). @hollywoodave531 - The grey the chair comes in is a light grey unfortunately but I think the light grey will still hide more than the beige (which is really off-white in my opinion).
@dennyandlee - I love that color beige and the pattern!! For the chair I like, the chair is not that dark for the beige it comes in unfortunately. Think the grey will be best for the room for us.
@sdnybrk - I think I'm sold on grey now...thank you!

That's a great idea about the letters. I was thinking about something along those lines. I did notice that my local craft store had a lot of lightweight cardboard letters that could work getting covered in fabric or such. Now DH and I just need to decide on a name so I can get crafting
So as I mentioned previously I will be using a vintage cradle that belonged to my DH's parents and was made by his grandfather. It's still very safe, it's just that the newer cradles/bassinets tend to require mattresses that are 36x18, and vintage cradles tend to require mattress that are 36x16- which can be VERY difficult to find brand new.
DH, his brother, and his dad got the floor put down in the nursery today! It used to be brown shag carpet but we decided to make the bedrooms match the rest of the house. (We are doing pink and gray.. The walls are gray but the pic lighting is bad). DS is gonna have a blast pulling up the tape tomorrow!
@mkemommy I have a glider in a very light cream color. We got it in a micro suede and it's SUPER easy to clean!!! It still looks brand new and we've had it for 2 years through one kid and have two black and white border collies.

But, I finally found a new mattress with these older dimensions, so I thought I'd share it in case anyone else was planning on using an older cradle but was having trouble finding a 36x16:
