May 2016 Moms

Teen mom maci due in may too.

Ok I admit my guilty pleasure is watching teen mom.  (My husband hates it!  He says "you do realize you're in your thirties, right?"). I guess cause I have no real drama in my real life, I need to get it from somewhere lol.  I am such a nerd.

So I was just reading that she didn't know until like last month that she was pregnant.  I know people can miss signs, it took me a whole month to realize the kids at school were not the ones making me sick  :p. But I definitely knew before Halloween.  And this is my first.  But I guess she could think the symptoms are just from the last baby.

Hope no one thinks less of me for my guilty pleasure ...kind of embarrassed to admit it  :#

Re: Teen mom maci due in may too.

  • I secretly love teen mom too, and DH also thinks I'm crazy! I think Maci has PCOS, so maybe it was normal to miss periods and she didn't think anything of it? But I definitely think she should've known way before last month. And that's a long time to still be drinking alcohol.

I love that show too!  Especially the ones that have twins lol.  My husband says please just never have a baby in the toilet  :p

@JessicaB0627, she does drink so much on the show!

I'm a little behind on the new episodes. I knew she was pregnant now but I didn't know how far along and that she was unaware. I hope the drinking hasn't affected that poor LO. Drinking while pregnant seems super risky especially if its hard liquor/beer. Wouldn't you have felt baby moving, especially given that you already have two children previously. Idk. Just seems odd to me. I guess crazier things have happened though.
  • So I actually work with someone who is apparently 1 week AHEAD of me in her pregnancy, and she didn't realize she was pregnant until 21 weeks in.  She says she didn't think anything of it until she felt the baby move and didn't know what it was.  Well...her husband says that it went down that way, anyway.  Lots of drama between them and they had been separated for a bit, getting back together a couple of weeks before she figured it out.  I personally don't buy it...there's no way I'd have made it to 21 weeks without wondering what the hell was going on with me.
  • I've had 4 pregnancies now and they are pretty easy going.   My second and third born were really calm babies. I knew I was pregnant this last time around at 4-5 weeks due to my bad attitude alone and I was on Mirena so I definitely didn't expect to get pregnant.

Love the shows teen mom and I didn't know I was pregnant. But I only saw the first couple of seasons.

  • I am not judging one bit. I love Teen Mom and Maci is my favorite (hate hate hate Farrah...). I'm not really sure how you could just not know you were pregnant. I tested and found out I was pregnant at 4 weeks.

I just feel the need to stem off this... because I also can't stand Farrah. She is an ungrateful, selfish, bitchy, terrible person in my opinion. And I'm sorry but her daughter also seems destined for some of the same attitude and behaviors. I hope years down the road Farrah enjoys being talked to by her daughter the way she talks to/treats her own parents. Ok... that's all.
Did you see where she got in trouble for wearing make-up to school? She's like FIVE!! And she made a comment about her outfit making her look fat or something. That poor baby. I can't imagine what she's going to be like as a teenager.

But I think Farrah got it from her own mother. The bitchy apples keep falling from the bitchy trees.

  • Oh, Maci...

    Me: 38; DH: 41
    DS: Born 5-17-16

  • I went to school with a girl who didn't know she was pregnant until she went to the ER with extreme pain and had a baby. I think they thought she couldn't get pregnant because she has some physical disabilities, but it happened. With my last, I had an anterior placenta and really didn't get any good movement until after 25 weeks, plus, I don't show until way later in a pregnancy, so I could have easily made it to last month without knowing, especially if my cycles weren't normal.

May be true.. to me her mom doesn't seem bitchy.. she just kind of seems 'unstable' at times. I never watched it back in the day so maybe I missed her treating Farrah poorly but its like come on.. be the bigger person. Idk. Just irks me to watch her.
  • I don't watch Teen Mom, but I actually know two people who claim not to have known they were pregnant until they went into labor. One went to the ER for what she says she thought was appendicitis, but she was in labor. Personally, I have no idea how that is even possible. Maybe I'm more "in tune" with my body that some people, but I knew something was "off" within the first couple of weeks - even before I missed a period. I just felt different. Now that I'm almost at the 6 month mark, I couldn't imagine not knowing I was pregnant. Both women I mentioned above were larger to begin with, so they didn't really show much baby bump, and they both had irregular cycles, but I don't know how you couldn't feel movement or know that something major was different with your body. One of them even had a child already, so you'd think she would have known something was up. Maybe they were in denial, but it just does't sound believable to me!
  • Didn't Maci say last time she was pregnant that her doctor told her after Bentley she might not be able to have any more kids, so she wasn't using birth control?
  • I also always questioned people that didn't know they were pregnant, but in the last few years it's happened to two of my friends, both already had a child!

One only realized because she went scuba diving and felt "off", turns out she was 13 weeks. My other friend actually didn't suspect anything but when my son was 4 months old I thought I was pregnant and told her in a panic (I wasn't, just post-partum cycle fun) and she apparently was quietly freaking out because she realized she hadn't had a period in 2 months.

Teen Moms I like: Catelynn, Chelsea and Maci. They all seem like they put their kids first and have stepped up.

Teen Moms I want to disappear: Farrah. First, the porn stuff and all of the crazy stories surrounding it. But really more because of the way she talks to her parents and about them in front of her daughter. I kind of hope her daughter treats her the way she treats her parents.

  • I just don't know how you could discredit the dance party in your belly to be anything but a baby in there! I'm overweight and have an anterior placenta and I still feel crazy movement.
