  • My baby is/has been in the nicu with various problems including a diagnosis of hydrouereteronephrosis- kidney/bladder problems, low blood platelet count, high blood pressure etc. My grandmother in law came to the hospital to visit and she told me that this was a good learning experience for me. Uhm, what?? How?? Why do I need to learn about any of this? I told her I don't plan on becoming a doctor and she said,"well, but if you have other children..." Wtf. My response: I hope that if I have other children they don't have these problems. She had no response after that.

Oh and also, not nearly as bad, but my mil asked if I was feeling like my SIL apparently felt after her labor/birth experience and thinking"never again" after my labor/birth experience. I just thought that was super weird because like I told her, I had been too worried about this kid to give any thought to the possibility of any others.
  • When is the baby due? The baby was literally in the car seat at the baby store checkout, so the cashier proceeds to tell me she sees a "little bump" AFTER DH said this is the baby (I'd like to add I was wearing a button up tunic in my prepregnacy size...so at 5 days post partum my abs aren't what they were yet but my shirt fit...). I swear some of the most ridiculous comments I've gotten have been from baby store employees!

My MIL also apparently is upset the baby has left the house before a week old. The funny thing is the baby has mostly gone on walks in the boba carrier with DH, while I napped. I've only gone to the doctors appointments, the pharmacy and baby store for postpartum supplies or BF tools.

Im not sure which is worse, being asked when you're due pp or when I was pregnant with my first I was buying something off my registry and they had the look it up. The cashier looked me up and down and asked when I had the baby. I was seven months at the time and it wasn't a little bump.
  • I was with hubby in Best Buy holding my newborn and the store employee says oh you have another one on the way?? I'm like ummm no...hes a week old?? Lol. Idiots.
  • My grandma really wanted me to put down my 9 day old baby into the bassinet during Christmas festivities. (Except that everyone else wanted to hold him.) She even took the baby from my Sister herself and put him in the bassinet. So I, just to piss her off, held him for the entire supper. Mwahah.

I gave DD to my grandma to hold while the family was together knowing it was the best way to keep her away from my aunt. Why? She thinks it's "sweet" when DS pulls away from her because she freaks him out. You gotta do what you gotta do.
  • @Mizuiro007 that's the funny part I was 32 weeks before anyone who saw me regularly (like my barista) noticed it was a bump not just a gut...and 36 weeks before a stranger asked anything pregnancy related.
And really who says, "when are you due?" gets shown the baby and feels the need to say AFTER that "oh, I see a bump!"
  • @TomekiaB I was so excited this pregnancy the first time someone made a comment about it. I was in a doctor's office waiting room chasing DS around and the reception made a comment about really having my hands full soon followed by that I was getting obvious. I was just happy I looked pregnant and not just fat.

Most times I get the stupid comments I give them a blank stare until they feel awkward. That way we both get to feel uncomfortable.
  • Oh my.. I'm so excited. I can't relate because I'm getting induced on Wednesday, but this is something that most of you probably won't miss about being pregnant: we were at my SO's grandmother's for Christmas and she comes out of the bathroom with a towel and tries to get me to sit on it to protect her couch (as if my water was going to suddenly explode all over their furniture). THEN proceeds to tell me "it's okay if you see a little blood when you wipe, it means it's starting." in front of the ENTIRE family. I couldn't tell if I was more humiliated or pissed TF off.

Anyone who makes a comment at me for having my newborn in public is going to hear my rath because I've been holding in snotty comments for 9 months now. Oh I'm sorry, I didn't know I wasn't allowed to leave my house just because I have a newborn.
  • My FIL asked me like 2 days ago if I was sure I wasn't pregnant again. He said I looked like I had twins and that I need to be doing sit ups. Then yesterday my dad "joked" that I wouldn't fit in a booth. I'm not THAT fat!!
