Who here has previously or plans to cloth diaper? I am 99% sure I want to. I have a few friends who do and they love it.

Re: Cloth diapering?
My best advice is to: start with a small stash and figure out what you like and what fits your baby best. And for the love of all things holy, do not do not do not follow the manufacturer's washing/detergent instructions. They are AWFUL. You will have stink, staining and rashes and be so frustrated you will want to quit. Join Fluff Love and CD Science on Facebook and check out their website. They are amazing and saved me from quitting cloth. (I realize that not following the manufacturer's washing instructions will void the warranty, but I'd rather have clean diapers, a rash free baby and zero warranty than stinky diapers, a miserable baby and a warranty)

I know lots of people say your water/electricity bills will go up and then it's not cheaper and not better for the environment, but if you wash correctly (i.e. according to Fluff Love and not manufacturers), you don't use a ton of water/electricity and it is still cheaper.
You can even go one step further and make your own cloth wipes (that's what we did!) to save even more money.

Seriously... the amount of waste from regular diapers is pretty horrific. Also the average baby will go through 2,400 diapers in his/her 1st year of life. Its CRAZY.

There was a very minimal increase to our water and electricity cost by doing wash more frequently. So it really is a great cost savings. Plus I feel it's better for the environment. Around here in Portland, OR. Many people cloth diaper so I have never heard of a day care not working with the parents when it came to cloth diapers.
I have tried a few other brands of diapers and very much prefer bum genius 4.0s. They are pockets which I also like. At night we stuff them with one layer of microfiber cloth and a layer of charcoal bamboo cloth.
We use Bum Genius 4.0 (pockets). I actually bought most of our stash used.

We have cd'd both the babies and will be with this nugget. I exclusively use pocket diapers though and am currently redoing the elastic (suuuucks) but I love them. We use disposables for the first two months though because I'm not a fan of leaving poo in the dipes overnight and I'll be damned if I'm getting out of bed to wash out a diaper.

I really liked my Kawaiis (bonus: they're super cheap), Blueberries and Rumparooz. Bumgenius were ok. I like the cute patterns, but I don't feel like the elastic held up as well as other brands.
For nights (once baby isn't pooping at night), you won't find anything better than a Sustainablebabyish Overnight Bamboo Fleece paired with a wool cover. That sucker is leak proof and amazing!
