Video baby monitors

I'm looking for reviews on video monitors. I'd like something that has 2 way so I can talk through it, has a long range, the ability to add more cameras later, good sound, zoom, etc.

Any recommendations? What do you have and why do you like it?

Re: Video baby monitors

  • I have the Summer brand one. You can talk through it, it has one zoom, and I think the sound is good. I haven't tested the range on it. I like that it doesn't use internet because I'm creeped out about those monitors getting hacked!

I have the Motorola video monitor and love it. You can add cameras you can talk through it and it also plays music if you want too you can zoom and pan also tells temp of the room.  I don't know the exact range but we have it in the farthest room in the back and took it all the way out to the sidewalk by the street and it was still crystal clear.

This. We love ours too! I'm not sure about the range because we live in a townhouse, but I did take it outside when I shoveled snow.
  • We use this Samsung one.  The picture isn't as clear as the (photoshopped) one shown, but it has all the features you described and works great for us. We live in a two floor apt and the range is good, it has a nice sleep mode where you can hear but save battery by shutting down the screen.  The battery life on the monitor is excellent.

  • Ours isn't technically a baby monitor. We have a nest camera which is made to be a security camera, but it has all the features you mentioned. We have it set up in the corner of her room so we can see the entire room including her crib in one corner, rocking chair in the other as well as the door. It uses our house's WiFi and you can use any phone, tablet, etc as the receiver with the free app you download. It has two way so whoever is watching can talk to who ever is in the room. Since you use your own device as the receiver the range is as far as you can go (during a recent snowstorm DH was stuck at work an hour away all weekend and he was able to see and talk to us both with no problem). The zoom is also really good. I can see her whole room regularly or I can zoom all the way in on just her crib(which is what I do at night). It will also send alerts to your phone when it detects movement and noise. I love it so much I'm thinking about getting at least one more for our downstairs. Especially for when she becomes more mobile so I can see her while I'm at work.
  • We also have the nest and love it. We are going to get a second for the first floor so if we ever have a babysitter that isn't family we can keep an on what's going on while we're out (bc I'm crazy)
  • We have the snug cam. I love it because it's connected via WiFi and I can use it on my phone. I can set motion and sound alarms and there is also two way talking. Also I can view it anywhere even when I'm at work!
  • Thanks ladies! I ordered a summer one. :)
