Welcome to the world, Annabelle Grace! Annabelle was born on 1/31 at 7:07pm. 9 lbs 4oz and 21 1/2 inches long. We are home and doing well, fighting off some Jaundice, but from everything I've read/been told, it's pretty common! For those of you still waiting, especially the other FTM, hang in there, you're about to going on the best roller coaster (labor and delivery) of your life!
Zachary Stephen arrived 2/3/16 at 38w5d: 20in, 7lbs13oz. I woke up with contractions at 12:15am, and had him exactly 12 hours later. Everything went perfectly and we're so in love with him!!
Malachi August arrived today at 2:55 pm, 7 lbs 8 oz and 20 inches long! I was in active labor from around midnight and attempted med free, but we wound up needing an emergency c-section. Malachi is spending his first night in the nursery due to a possible infection (he has a little bit of a "grunt") but should be back in our room tomorrow!
Baby Luis Armand was born today, February 6, 2016 at 5:48 am, 7lb, 8 oz, 20.5 inches and 18 days early. I woke up at midnight with 6 min contractions and cramping. Got in the tub for an hr and went down to 4.5 min. Arrived at the hospital and was able to have my planned med free birth and labored for less than 6 hours total ( could have been faster but I was afraid of them breaking my water when I was 9.5 dilated). Once that happened, the last ten min was intense. My throat still hurts from the 2 min of screaming and pushing but he is so worth it and the recovery so far has been amazing. He nursed for about an hr and a half while we were still in the labor room and he's been cooing since he's been born.
Bradley Pierre (my dad's name is Pierre) was born on 2/4/16 @ 503pm. 6lbs 9.5 oz and 20 inches. He came 4 days early. He is my third baby and since my second was literally almost born in the car we didn't waste any time getting to the hospital. But, After about 8 hours I was still only 6cm so they broke my water which got things going and within another hour or so I was ready to push. 5 mins and 3 pushes later, he was here!
Carmine was born February 7th, 2016 at 12:41am weighing 6lb9oz and 18.5 inches long. He came one day early and is the youngest of 4 Can't wait till my other three kids get to meet their little brother.
Our sweet little Arlia Genevieve was born on 6/2/16 at 6:35am, weighing 7lb 4oz, 50.5cm long. She's absolutely perfect! Went to the hospital at 2:30pm on 5/2 (39+1) to get blood results & BP checked (all normal) however dips in her heartrate had them concerned. After 4 hours of monitoring, was told they'd prefer to induce me that night. After a busy night at the hospital, I was first checked at midnight and to everyone's surprise, was already 2cm dilated so they broke my waters & contractions came on naturally. 6 & a half hours later, my girl was in my arms.. Completely med free birth (I even surprised myself!). Turns out the cord had been wrapped around her neck but thankfully it hadn't caused any issues during her birth. Big congrats to all those who have given birth so far & all the best to those still yet to meet their little ones.
Ezekiel Thomas made his debut on the alternate due date we were given of February 3rd 2016 after 23 hours of active labor and an hour of pushing. Contractions started to actually become strong around 6:30 pm on the 2nd so we decided to drop our son off at grandmas for the night (just in case). Well by 1 in the morning I couldnt sleep through them anymore and we decided to pick up my mom and sister and head in to the hospital since i tested gbs+ and needed antibiotics. I had no changes from my appointment check the day before but my nurse was amazing and did all she could to help me progress. We worked on opening my cervix by using the birthing ball and using other exercise techniques from spinning babies. I finally progressed to a 4 and was able to get my first round of antibiotics. I spent another few hours laboring and waiting because I needed a second round of antibiotics before I could have my water broken. I was able to get in the tub and relax. After my second round my midwife checked me and I was at a 5 with my waters bulging. She broke my water and it was the most fabulous relief for about 5 minutes until another contraction hit. This was around 1:30 pm. I got back in the water for a while but the best position was on the toilet lol. My pain was becoming excruciating by about 5 pm. This kid just did not want to drop and I almost gave up on having another med free birth but my mom and husband encouraged me to just start pushing and once he decided to come he was out in four pushes! He weighed 8.5 lbs and is 21" long. We are doing amazing with breastfeeding and so far little man is a calm and happy little baby. We are so blessed to have him here and healthy.
Went into my doctors for 40 week check up and we told I had no amanioc fluid and placenta was no longer providing oxygen to baby. Went into hospital for induction. Started balloon catheter at 4pm along with antibiotics for gbs at 9:45 was not dilated past 2cm. Baby was in distress heart rate dropping with every contraction rolled me off for c-section. Welcome Ebiasan Okorodudu 6lb 3oz 19in long and just wonderful!
Gage Landon Robertson was born on 2/8/16 at 5:42 pm via unplanned c section. We went in to perform an ECV since he was breech. That was unsuccessful so they were going to monitor us then send me home and schedule a c section later this week. My BP kept going up, so they didn't feel comfortable sending me home and he is in my arms today instead! Big sis is in love and he is nursing like a champ.
Vera Lynn arrived February 3rd, 2016 @ 3:27 p.m. weighing 7 lbs. 11 ounces and 20 inches long. After being induced due to gestational diabetes, I labored for 6 hours and pushed for 2! We think she's pretty perfect!!!
Miranda Kasy was born at 5:11pm today 2/9/2016 6lbs 12oz and 19.5 inches. EDD was 2/5/2016. After induction was started at 7am her heart rate started to drop with contractions and after trying many different things c section it was! But it was all worth it! We are so in love!
Zoey Elizabeth was born 2/7/16 at 12:29pm, weighing 6lbs 3ozs, and 20 inches long. I was induced due to gestational hypertension and after 28 hours of labor, 2.5 pushing, she was born. :-)
August Brennan was born one week ago after a long labor (at 39 weeks)! After 26 hours, he finally made his debut. I labored in a birthing pool for the majority of the labor, but then actually birthed him on a bed. The midwife put a breast pump on me to speed up my contractions at the end, because I was getting pretty tired. August was 6lbs 3oz. I didn't find out the gender during my pregnancy, so it was exciting to finally find out who I was carrying this whole time!
After a long spontaneous onset of labor that lasted 24hrs alas Baby Elias refused to turn and help get through the last 0.5cm. He was born via Caesarean section at 528am. Despite significant mom complications, we are both doing well and Eli is feeding and growing like a champ. Good luck to all those 40+ weekers, the end is near and it's definitely better on the other side!
Amelia Grace was born today via csection. She is absolutely beautiful. 7lbs 4oz and 18 1/2 inches long. Within the first hour she latched on and besides disliking my right boob she is a pro at feeding.
Welcome Keaton 2-9-16! 7lb 9oz and 21 in! Had a scheduled induction 2-8 started the process at 6:30 am my water broke at 6:30 am on 2-9, a few hours later we were ready to push! After 45 minutes and an almost emergency c-section he was out!! Nursing like a champ!!!
My birth story isn't super eventful! Went in for my schedule csection on Monday the 1st.. Was originally set for the 4th (my due date), but my last ultrasound was measuring baby in the 11yh percentile and my fluid was a little low. And since I had had a previous csection, induction wasn't an option (I was hoping for a vbac!). The surgery went as planned but was very uncomfortable and a little painful. Miss Kenna Marie was born at 9:19am weighing a tiny 5lbs 10 oz and 18in long and perfectly healthy! Her blood sugar was a tiny bit low but was just fine within a few hours. Her brothers (my 2 yr old twins) weren't able to meet her right away because they were pretty sick (one had double ear infection and pneumonia!). But we are all home now and adjusting well! The boys finally held her today, a week and a half after she was born ha! Edited to add a pic from my computer!
Miss Penelope Rogin joined our family at 38wks+2 on 2/9 @ 6:28 am weighing 6lbs 12.4 oz, 20" long. Water broke at home at 1:15 am and off we went to the hospital. Contractions became unbearable at about 5:30 am but too late to rethink getting an epidural. Pushed for maybe 10-15 minutes. Her speedy arrival left me with 2nd degree tears and a major hemorrhage, however transfusion and OR were avoided. Mom and baby are doing great!
Baby Jack is here! He arrived Monday 2/8 at 8:30 am after my water suddenly broke at midnight. Regular contractions followed and he was here after an hour of pushing. Pretty good labor and he has been amazing. He was 6lbs 1 oz and born at 37.4 weeks. We are home from the hospital and all is well. Good luck to all the mamas!
Nadine arrived shortly after midnight (12:05 am) on 2/10/16 via vaginal delivery. After delivering, I had major complications with my placenta that after the path report they have ruled as placenta increta. We are so happy to be home with her! She's the first grand baby on both sides and we are all so so in love.
Here is my birth story. An update: I was able to move from ICU last night around 7 or 8 (they at first thought I would need to stay in ICU for 2 or 3 days). We obviously needed to formula feed at the beginning, but despite that she was been a breastfeeding champ and has an amazing latch! This precious girl is a gift from God, despite everything that has happened! We're so in love.
Olivia Kate made her appearance on January 31st, at 8:02 am. I labored for a total of 3 hours. She was 6 lbs 5.7 oz and 19.5 inches long. It was by far my best labor to date
Leo Allen was born 2/12 at 1:32 pm, 7lbs 5 oz and 20.5 inches. My water broke at 1:15 am, then I spent about 12 hours in labor. I pushed for less than an hour and there he was! He's the sweetest thing we've ever seen and we love him to pieces!
Noah was born Feb 11th at 7:45pm weighing 7 lbs 14 oz. His birth went amazing! Completely unmedicated, showed up at the hospital at an 8 and after my water broke a couple hours later he was here within 25 minutes. Only 3 mins of pushing. I was 38w2d. Congrats to all and to all still waiting.
Eva Rose arrived 2/5 (40+2 weeks pregnant) by repeat C-Section. She weighed 9 lbs, 1 oz and was 21 inches long.
My birth plan was to have a VBAC and I had the full support of my OB/Midwifery practice up until the very end. At my 36 week ultrasound, the baby was measuring an estimated 6lbs, 14oz and at my 40 week ultrasound (taken at 40+1), the ultrasound estimated her weight to be 9lbs 15oz. My OB sat us down and had a frank discussion with us. She said although the ultrasound can be off by as much as a pound in either direction, even the conservative estimate would put her at 8lbs 15oz. But if it was off in the other direction, she could be as big as 10lbs 15oz. Regardless, it was too risky to attempt a VBAC.
I was thankful that it was that particular OB in the practice that I saw that day because she is one of the most pro-VBAC providers there and actually delivered one of her own children by VBAC. So, I knew she wasn't taking the decision lightly.
We scheduled the repeat csection for noon the following day to make sure my body didn't have time to go into labor on its own. The csection went fine and I'm recovering nicely.
Eva is a champ eater and (knock on wood) sleeps well too and her big brother is great with her. So in love.
Good of luck to those of you who are still waiting to have your babies!
Paige's birth was highly anticipated. After our first two came almost a week early, we fully expected her to follow that path. However, after her due date of 2/5 passed, it was clear she would be late to the party so we scheduled an induction for the morning of 2/13. Luckily, she got the message at exactly 41 weeks. I woke up around 1:30am on 2/12 with some minor cramping. It was annoying enough to keep me from sleeping so I moved to the couch to get comfortable and watch TV. Around 5:45am, I had my first contraction. It was painful so I woke my husband up. Another came at 6:00am then consistently every 5 minutes. We called my mom to come watch the kids. By the time she got there at 6:30 they were 3 minutes apart and we were on our way to the hospital. I checked into triage right at 7:00am, they quickly assessed me and I was 7cm dilated. By 7:20am I was in a labor and delivery room and around 7:30am was 9cm dilated. My sister showed up around that time. Good thing I was planning to go natural because it was clear she would be there soon. My midwife arrived and was so calm and reassuring. The pain was pretty brutal but in all went rather quickly and our sweet girl came into the world at 8:04am. Daddy was able to catch her and cut the cord. She weighed 8lbs 8oz and was 20 inches long. She swallowed quite a bit of fluid so the NICU team came in and did an awesome job of clearing it all out. They checked her over for about 15-20 minutes and then I was able to do skin to skin. Paige nursed right away and was such a little doll. She's the perfect addition to our family. Big brother Grant (5) and big sister Brynn (3) adore her and we feel beyond blessed.
Alexander James (AJ) was born 2/9 weighing 8lb 14oz and 21 inches long! Original due date was 2/1.
I began having contractions around 12:30am that were immediately 10ish minutes apart. They were strong enough that I couldn't sleep through them but nothing that took my breath away. This lasted until about 6:30 when I got up to take a shower and get ready for the day, I had a NST, growth ultrasound, cervix check at 9:30 that morning. Contractions pretty much fizzled out before my appointment but we decided to put our bags in the car just in case. At my appointment baby was still high and I wasn't dialted at all. They measured the fluid and it had increased enough from the previous week that the dr felt it was best to send me to the hospital to be induced right then to try to avoid any potential issues. So we left there, grabbed some lunch, stopped home to say goodbye to our toddler (who was getting ready to go to grandma's and grandpa's) and headed up to the hospital. I started having contractions again, enough to be uncomfortable and were just a few minutes apart. This baby was really playing with my head at this point. Checked into the hospital at 2pm and settled into our room, they hooked me up to the monitors before the dr came in. While laying there the contractions got even stronger so the dr recommended to walk the halls a bit and then she'd check me an hour later. We walked the halls for about 30 minutes and then I wanted to go sit on the exercise ball for a bit. I turned on a movie to try to take my mind off the contractions but they kept getting stronger and stronger so it didn't work. The nurse came back in to get me to lay down to hook me back up to the monitors and as I stood up I felt a small gush. Every step I took I felt a gush. I went to the bathroom figuring Id be in bed a while and as I sat my water really came gushing out along with what looked like my mucus plug. I got in bed and Dr checked me, I was 4 cm. They offered an epidural whenever I wanted it and I said to just get it going then, since contractions were coming fast and furious I didnt want to miss my opportunity. The epidural was administered at 4:30, checked cervix an hour later and was 8cm. My mom came up at this point to visit DH and I, I didn't mind even though I hadn't planned on anyone else being there because I was feeling ok. The epidural took to one side completely and the other side it was helping a little bit but not 100% (that's wierd feeling contractions on one side only). They checked me around 7:30 and I was 10cm and began pushing. DS was sunnyside up so they had me pushing while laying on each side to try to get him in a better position which didn't work. I struggled trying to get him out but managed to without any interventions. The nurses/dr all commented on how big he was and how I carried/delivered that size of a baby, they said he looked at least a few weeks old already. We did skin to skin for an hour and he latched on right away! DH and my mom were present for the birth, which I kept thinking she would go to the waiting room when it was pushing time but she stayed and I felt so distracted by her being there and what she'd be seeing etc. I am glad she was there to welcome baby boy but I just wish I could have relaxed a bit more and not had to worry about being so exposed. Luckily, it's not bothering me now and I feel comfortable still around her, I was so worried that I'd feel strange afterwards or upset that it wasnt just DH and I there bit it was nice to have her there too. All in all it was a great birth experience, got to skip the induction procress and we are both happy and healthy! Big sister (2) just adores her baby brother! Now for some pictures!!
Owen was born 2/6/16 at 7#14oz. I started having contractions around 8am that morning but they were very inconsistent. I called hubby around noon to make sure he was leaving work by one because contractions were about 10 minutes apart. Hubby walked in the door around 1:30. 5 minutes later my water broke. Made some calls to have someone come get DS. We left 10 minutes later and contractions were 5 minutes apart and painful. Within 10 minutes of being in the car they went from 10 minutes to back to back. It was obvious we were not going to make the rest of the 45 minute trip to the hospital. We stopped at the nearest EMS station where they quickly loaded me up. Before we even got out of the parking lot little one was here in 2 pushes. Hubby got to cut the cord and we were off to the hospital. He's been doing great since day one!
Thomas Paul was born 2/15/16 (EDD 2/8/16) following a scheduled induction. It was a long, difficult labor but he was born healthy and came out screaming. We are so thankful for our little love!
Michael Patrick, born Feb 15th. Went into labor in the middle of the night Sat into Sun, went to the hospital 6:30pm Sun. Was given an epidural and a bit of pitocin to keep contractions steady. I finally started progressing enough to push by 10am. After 2 hours, baby was just stuck and the doctors opted for emergency C-section. Had some complications, but an incredibly healthy baby so all is well! Welcome my sweet prince!
