Need of Support *Trigger possible*

Hello Everyone,
Joined a few days ago and was waiting for the 72 hour period to be up.

Anyway,

On Monday while at work I felt what my OB described as "opening the gates of hades" blood loss. Naturally I panicked and called my OB and he had me come right in. It took him 45 minutes to finally come in my room and by then the heavy bleeding had stopped. He found the heart beat at a steady 162, My cervix was closed and my BP was perfect. He saw no reason to do an ultrasound as we had picked up the heart beat and I had just had an ultrasound on that passed Friday. He scheduled no follow up because I already had an appointment scheduled in 2 weeks.
I bled mildly until yesterday when it turned brown and only when I wipe from using the bathroom. Today it has completely stopped.

My anxiety had me at wits end so I ordered a doppler but, it wont be here til at least Thursday.

Still nauseous and hungry all the time. My tummy is still plumped up. Never passed clots or any tissue and never had pain. As of yesterday im 12 weeks.

My anxiety is still high.
Any mommas with previous bleeding experience and everything be okay?

I bled off and on a lot my first trimester and even had a huge bleeding episode when I was 14 weeks along (last year on Valentine's Day) and then again after every cervical check after 36 weeks pg. My little girl will be 28 weeks on Monday. That being said, everyone is different. It sounds like your LO is doing just fine. I hope it stays that way<3

  • If it was me I wouldn't sit around stressing.  I would call your doctor on Monday and ask to be evaluated again or to hear the hb.   Bleeding can be normal, but stressing about it doesn't do any good.  Call them on Monday.
  • What a terrifying experience! But it definitely sounds like your baby is okay. Your anxiety is also completely normal. It's okay to let yourself feel your feelings. Sometimes I need to give myself space to FEEL EVERYTHING, and then let it recede so I can go on with my day.

I bet some more ladies will chip in like @micshi who've had similar experiences. Hugs, lovely lady.
  • I had a very similar thing happen. I was terrified. Everything was fine and I'm now 13 weeks and both my ob and the perinatal dr have confirmed the baby is fine. I have a very large uterine fibroid that may complicate things so I'm being monitored closely. I was so worried they did the ultrasound just to calm me. If you feel like seeing the ultrasound would make you feel better tell them and ask them to work it in for you.
  • I had the same thing happen at about 11 weeks, and it's terrifying! I feared the worst with the amount of blood loss, but it turned out to be a SCH that was bleeding out. I continued to have spotting for the next month and it just stopped this week at 15 weeks.  I agree with the others, your doctor should be able to get you in for an ultrasound to ease your anxiety. I ended up going to the ER because I had been so freaked out.

Don't let the home Doppler drive you crazy. I also purchased one because my anxiety was driving me crazy. I was able to find the heart beat right away because I've had so many emergency appointments that I knew where to find it. But I've had friends who had to try over the course of a few days because it was either too early or they just weren't sure where to locate the heartbeat. You'll find it, it just takes time!
  • Thanks ladies! Im just a nervous wreck. I didn't have bleeding with my other 3
  • I've had bleeding with both of my pregnancies.  The first one happened around 5 weeks and was a lot of blood and lasted about one day.  I had brown spotting for about three weeks after that. No reason was ever found for the bleed. With this second pregnancy I had spotting that started at 5 weeks, dropped off for a week, then picked back up a week later. I was diagnosed with a subchorionic hematoma at about 8.5 weeks.  The spotting continued until late last week (when I was just over 11 weeks).  I am crossing all my crossables and praying that the bleeding is over so that I can finally start to enjoy this pregnancy.  I know how you feel - this is so anxiety-provoking. No pregnant woman wants to see bleeding - ever.

At my 12 week appt on Tues the SCH wasstill showing up on U/S, but my doctor wasn't very concerned about it.  He assured me it would eventually resolve.  I'm just on activity restriction - no sex, no heavy lifting or exercise, etc.  Kinda disappointing (that it was still there), but it feels good to know the baby is still doing OK and the OB isn't very concerned.

Hoping this resolves quickly for you! Hang in there.
  • I bought myself a doppler just to calm myself. I feel a little silly but, its my last baby so I feel a little pampering is okay :-)
  • I'm 14 and a half weeks now and just stopped bleeding. I had a sub chorionic hematoma which finally seems to be resolving. I can totally understand your stress! Just try not to panic. Good luck!!!
