Re: TWW testing week February 22nd

  • Hi @sassysd7!  GL with your transfer tomorrow!  FX for a BFP!

My 2nd IUI is scheduled for Saturday, so my test day will be 2/27.  My RE doesn't do betas for IUIs unless you get a + on HPT.  There were hardly any BFPs in my last TWW thread so I'm hoping this one will be the opposite! :)

  • Transfer is all done and a little crampy! We transferred 2. We didn't get a grade though. Of the 11 fertilized only 5 made it so 3 left to freeze! We're so grateful. The full bladder was the worse lol. I ended up using the bedpan during my 20 min lying session and got some on the floor lol. Very embarrassing. Then my hubby freaked because he was scared that I pushed the embabies out lol. OMG this wait is going to be torture! We're almost there. Come on 2/22, which is my beta. I look forward to reading everyone's good progress. Keep me updated. I'm about to relax for the next two days, browse pinterest, and start reading the Harry Potter series over.  There's a new HP book coming in July yay! Good luck everyone.

  • @sassysd7 Congrats on your transfer going well! I too hate the full bladder part, especially since I have a small-ish one! I was offered the bedpan last time and thought I'd be able to power through the 20 minute wait, but I only lasted about 3 minutes and had to tell DH to go ask for one. I must have been peeing for like a minute and a half. The nurse actually came in to ask if I was done and I had to tell her no. I had even gone to the bathroom between getting to the clinic and doing the transfer because they were doing one for someone else at the same time and I had to wait.

@pugmama915 I hope your transfer goes smoothly!

I'm trying to decide what I want to do during my 48 hour bed rest sentence. I'm thinking I may re-watch the Harry Potter movies as I just read the books myself for the first time a few months ago.

    Hoping hoping hoping for BFPs!!!!!!!!!

Lots of hoping! I want to watch the videos too. I'm very sad that the actor who played Snape died. The good ole bladder lol.  I'm going to have a terrible pregnancy bladder lol.

@wifeinraleigh28 It is indeed a script for the plays in London I believe.  I would rather have a book but anything HP is exciting! It picks up right where the epilogue of the last one left off.

Hi Ladies. I transferred two embryos on day 5, which was on Wednesday, 2/10. I'm currently on my "bedrest sentence." Haha. I'll be having my beta on 2/18 and 2/20. Apparently they won't call me until after the second one. What torture!! Does anyone else have to do this?! I am so excited!!

  • Hey everyone thanks for the well wishes! Transfer went smoothly except it seems as though I didn't drink enough water and we had to wait 45 minutes for me to clear another 20 ounces of water before we could start. Eek. The procedure was so quick I was so surprised! They gave us a copy of our little blast  and now the 2WW starts. Good luck to everyone during this nerve wracking time!!

  • Hi ladies!  GL to all of you in this dreaded TWW!  It's certainly hard!

i just did my iui today so I'll start to poas on 2/26 or hope that AF doesn't show up.  I'm really praying this works because we are likely moving on (or trying to) to ivf if it doesn't and will be paying oop. While the shots, letrozole, and monitoring the iui is tiresome, I can only imagine how you ladies going through ivf are doing.  I'm sorry we all have to go through this but hoping someone in this group will get their BFP!

  • I had my first PIO shot today. DH is working all day so I went into my clinic and had my nurse do it. No offense to the DH, but dang it was nice having a trained professional doing it! It is still uncomfortable now, but I didn't feel it at all when she was doing the shot.

@pugmama915 When I did my first transfer I didn't drink enough and had to sit around for an extra half hour drinking more. The second time I drank too much and had to get up to pee because they were running behind (then use a bedpan, then pee while the DH was getting the car). I'm hoping for goldilocks this time!

  • @AandDM2014 oh those PIO shots!!  :s They actually get a little bit better - maybe due to our dear husbands getting more experience, but I've noticed the most comfortable is when I lie on my stomach on the bed and turn my toes in a little - it really relaxes those muscles! By far, it helps the most when I warm those little syringes in my hands before giving it off to DH to give the injection. I don't know how the brave ladies on some of these boards give it themselves. eek! Best of luck on your transfer!

  • @pugmama915 I think last time we did 16 days of PIO shots and it wasn't until after the first beta with a result of 9 that they started hurting. I think mostly because I knew it had likely failed, so I was doing these for no reason. Oh my gosh. When I found out DH was going to be gone for a shot, I was wondering if I could do it myself so I was googling and found a video of someone doing it. It made me so uncomfortable to watch that I had to turn it off. I couldn't imagine doing that!! And generally, the shot itself isn't bad, it's the pain once my brain registers that there is something in the muscle that shouldn't be there. Like this morning, my butt hurts quite a bit from where it was injected, but last night while driving home from my clinic it wasn't too bad. I'm also lucky in that I get room temp PIO, not refrigerated. I know that makes a huge difference.

@wifeinraleigh28 I'm glad your IUI went well! Hopefully your DH will be kind a make dinner for you tonight! Hopefully your tww isn't awful!

AFM - I should be getting a call on Monday from my embryology lab with further instructions for the day of. I'm sure it'll be the same as every other time: between 8:30 and 8:45 drink 32 oz of liquid, arrive at the clinic by 9:30, get a blood draw, wait around until 10:30 for the actual transfer. At my clinic I get prescribed a valium to take shortly before the procedure. I always look forward to that because I tend to tense up when I have a speculum, and it helps me to relax a bit.

Anyone have plans for Valentine's Day, or are we all past that? I don't think DH and I have ever had a special thing on V-Day because for our first one we were already engaged and living together (oh yeah, and dirt poor so no extra spending money). By the second one we'd been married for over 8 months.

  • Thank you @wenikilina and @AandDM2014!  Glad I have y'all to share this TWW with!  We were luckily invited over to our neighbor/really good friends' house for dinner tonight so DH is off the hook on figuring out dinner :)  I'm the cook in our house so he probably would have ended up bringing us home some take out!

@wenikilina That's so exciting about your transfer!  FX for good betas!  When/if we end up needing to do IVF I'm going to be excited too.  With much higher odds how could you not be?!

This is our 4th Valentine's Day together and we always do something small, like get each other cards and have a date night.  We have reservations tomorrow night for McCormick & Schmicks.  I've never been but I've heard good things!  Anyone else have any plans?

  • Welcome @LMart85! I hope your IUI was easy and stress free! My clinic also didn't do betas for IUI unless you got a positive pee test 14 days after. I think that is pretty standard. Hopefully you will get a BFP though!

@wifeinraleigh28 Good thing you were invited to someone elses for dinner then! If my DH had to make dinner he'd be like brb getting Chipotle, so I totally get that.

My plans for tomorrow include a lot of food prep for this coming week. My mom is coming up to take care of us and I want to make it as easy as possible. I'm shopping today and getting meat and veggies to portion out and make how I like. It's gonna be a kitcheny day tomorrow!

@wifeinraleigh28 Well I am hoping that you will get positive results and will not have to go to the IVF! Have a nice and relaxing dinner tonight and a lovely Valentine's Day tomorrow! :)

  • @AandDM2014 it is good to know that you don’t feel it! I am terrified of PIO shots. I hope the suppositories are working because I don’t want to move on there. I am counting down until Monday for you and me lol. I just want some days to pass lol but also for you to have your FET!  That is a long time to wait for a transfer! I got a Valium too, well two. I could feel it instantly lol. No plans for Vday other than going to a 1 yr old birthday party for my niece. I did wake up to an edible arrangement, which I ate all the pineapple lol. We consider our transfer the Vday gift lol. Oh yeah awesome idea for the food prep! I love chipotle too lol!

@wifeinraleigh28 yay congrats on being in the TWW! I don’t know how easy I took it lol. I was up and about. I had to get something to drink, then pee, then get the comforter out of the dryer, then warm up my food. I am worried I got up too much. This is all new so everything worries me!

@LMart85 Welcome and congrats on your IUI! I hope time flies by for you and we all get our BFPs!

@sassysd7 I did suppositories for my fresh transfer and they gave me the worst UTI I've ever had. When getting ready for my second they wanted to do both supps and PIO, but I told them about the UTI and asked if I could just do PIO and they said yes! I mean I'm already doing the shot, might as well add 1/2 cc and not get a UTI! I should be getting a call early on Monday with transfer instructions for Tuesday because the clinic isn't open very late. I'm hoping I don't have to wait until the afternoon to get them! And kudos to whoever got you the edible arrangement. They are so tasty!

@bbkidz Welcome! Congrats (ish) on your first IUI! It looks like you didn't wait the standard year they tell you to. Good for you, though of course bad that you didn't conceive naturally.

  • @bbkidz Glad to see you're joining us here in addition to the Feb IUI thread! A lot of us include those details in our signatures, then it just shows up automatically with every post :)

We didn't wait a year either, only because we suspected there would be sperm issues with my husband's low T. We got one of those at home sperm tests our second month of trying and when he got abnormal results we went straight to the RE for an SA, then when that showed problems we did all the testing. Sperm is so easy to test so I'm glad we didn't wait!

  • Thanks ladies! I don't know why they fast-tracked us to the RE, but maybe because I have a history of an eating disorder, a colon surgery, and family history of anovulation requiring Clomid to conceive. I wish I had started with the RE because he and his nurses are so much  more helpful than my OB-GYN and his staff. Prayers for all of us!

@wifeinraleigh28 my dh and I also had a rather large VD meal tonight at Longhorn!  I ate so much I could hardly breathe when I left!  Good food though!

@sassysd7 I've been looking for some new crime thriller books myself (a little different than mob romance genre but that sounds fun too!). I got really into the Steven Avery documentary on Netflix and just finished listening to Serial podcast so now I'm on the hunt for real crime books to keep my interest!  I think I've always wanted to be a detective deep down lol.
