I have a heart monitor at home. I used it with my first born son and loved it. But my mom was saying don't use it because it can make babies go deaf and possibly cause early birth. But my doctor a few days said it was fine to use it as i get further along. What are your thoughts on the heart dopplers?

Re: Thoughts on home heart monitors?
I know that some doctors and midwives discourage dopplar use because they can cause mamas a lot of stress (if you can't find the heartbeat, for example). It's also difficult to distinguish your normal internal sounds or even the placenta sound from the heartbeat, but with a little practice it gets easier.
I use mine maybe twice a week until I start feeling kicks. For me, it's peace of mind. Worth every penny.

I have one but I only use it every few days or once a week. I have the Sonoline B and I too thought it wouldn't be very healthy to be putting all that pressure on my abdomen so much. It does help me by reassuring me that baby is still there when I hear the tiny heartbeat!
