I hate that everyone here wants to move over to FB. That happened on my last board, and then within a couple of weeks the people who created the FB group deleted it (I don't remember why exactly). The board activity and conversation went way down and wasn't sustained on FB, obviously. I have no problem keeping my Bump activity here on this board, and not sharing my personal email address to be added to that group.

If you are staying in someone's house I don't think it's ok to fold their laundry without asking (clothes and underwear, not a towel batch) or to reorganize their closets. I think I'm going to go crazy!
(I didn't think this was an unpopular opinion, but apparently it is with my husbands family, as I found out this week, sigh)

I don't recognize a LOT of the people who have been posting in that FB thread with their emails...so, I'm entirely happy staying here with all of you!
I dont get get why people like zulily so much. MIL told me about it about 3 years ago and told me how great it is and that I needed to join. I signed up and never once have I bought anything. I've looked at it several times but I just don't get why people like it so much. The stuff is cute and all but I don't think it's that great of deals.
The last couple showers I've been to I've left before right gifts. One was a bridal shower with at least 60 people, the other was a baby shower I'd only had 4 hrs of sleep the night before. Both times I was very happy with my decision.

I have only bought one thing from that website, it was when I was pregnant with DS, I found a maternity sweater. It took over two months to arrive. (Coincidentally, I'm wearing it right now.) I think I'm turned off by their no-returns policy.

I've always suspected it's because I'm on the Canadian version of the site, but the deals are typically NOT good. There's occasionally good brands on there at mediocre discounts, but the ones with HUGE discounts are just direct from China cheapy things that would never actually sell at the "regular" price.
That said, there is a lot of nice stuff on there. But the turnaround time is so long I mostly don't bother anymore.

Agree, although my mom does our laundry while she's here and I do appreciate it a ton. I can see if SIL or someone else was doing it- like in your case- I'd be super weirded out by it!
BUT IN NO WAY should you ever reorganize my stuff. I'm super Type A and super organized, so don't touch my stuff.
My UO is that I don't want a baby shower. Not only it's unpopular because it's yet another baby shower thing, but people act oh so surprised when you don't want one because don't you want to get all the gifts? Like that's a purpose of the baby shower...

All of this. In fact, I think a separate FB page might be in order once we are all further along or maybe even after the due date for those who stick around and regularly contribute to the conversations.

My MIL looked horrified when I told her I didn't want one, as if it was sacrilegeous for a pregnant woman to not want a shower.

You could ask her if she wants a grandma shower Those are all the rage these days...
If my baby shower had been the drama-filled logistical nightmare requiring 20+ weeks of planning that seems to be the norm among the random posters on this board, I wouldn't have wanted it either!
I get angry at people (like legitimately angry) who post asking for advice on something then never return. "Look at me! Look at me!" is all I hear in my head.
I probably pull the "I'm pregnant" card too much and should stop...but I won't.
I love it when some of you ladies are snarky. I belong to an internet board with somewhat snarky (but truly lovely) ladies and when I see the snark come out here I get a little gleeful that some of you deep down feel snarky about things like me.

I always respond with snark in my head when I read some of the thread titles.
@amberliz99 I'm sorry. My MIL cleaned my kitchen and bathroom the first time she visited us, after she told my husband that I don't do a good enough job of taking care of the house.
@millermama13. I don't get it either, and I live in the states.
@emztron500 I agree. I've also seen that the microcephaly is actually caused by the TDap and not Zika.
I don't think I have a UO today. I'll come back and update if I think of one.
I don't get why people feel the need to tell every last person they know that they're having a baby. I'm excited for the baby too but my 3rd cousin twice removed who I haven't seen since I was 6 doesn't need a personal phone call or email to let them know. I don't think that they give a damn. Or remember who I am.
@Sgoldberg247 I hear you! My aunt wanted me to call my cousins mother in law to tell her my news, I was like, ummm no that would be really weird I've never called her before why would I do so now??
I don't post on a lot of threads because I don't see the point of reiterating what 30 other people have already told the OP and the other OPs on the other 8 threads just like it. I get in every day, a couple of times a day, but dont comment much because it feels redundant...and I don't look past the first page very often, either. I'm a lazy Bumper...Bumpee...Bumpette?
Also, @kwife15 I almost died with the grand shower comment. Perfect!
@AmberLiz299 My MIL always washes and folds when she comes...my 4 loads is 8 loads for her and I have to refold after she leaves.. laundry is literally the only housework I've ever seen her do (even in her own house) so at least my drawers are safe...
I like zulily around Christmas because I can find really cool toys for my 6 cousins/nephews without spending a bunch..and I bought a ton of natural makeup (hoping it wont breakout my hormonal face) for a really good price the other day. I ordered from there about 2x a year

I am also guilty of this. I'm loosely planning on being a part of the one and done club, though -- so I figure I should take advantage of it while I can and I fully intend to.
Like, when I called my mom at 9:00 last night to bring me a milkshake because I knew she'd be out on her way home from picking my little sister up from dance practice... not my proudest moment.
edited because my mom picked my sister up from dance practice - not me. That'd be hilarious.
My UO is that I am not in the "baby kicks are cute" camp yet.
I am so happy every time I feel one, but it low key still freaks me out that there's a human being growing and MOVING inside of me. And I also sometimes wish I could (gently) kick him back every time LO bounces on my cervix/bladder. I'm terrible, I know.
UO: I think maternity pictures where you are semi naked are creepy. This is really popular in Miami...and I hate it. Please put your tummy back into it's shirt, thanks.
kwife15 YES!!!! I'm sure my MIL can give her some pointers for that Grandma shower
I'm so terrified that she's going to try to pull something like that, it seems like something that would be right up her alley...not on par with your gem of a MIL, she seems to be in a class of her own.

Completely agree. This is why I'm glad our wedding photographer/friend who doesn't take maternity photos offered to do ours. I didn't want to hire an actual maternity photographer because ALL of their portfolios had the naked belly. Just no.
I wouldn't take a picture of my nude belly any other time... being pregnant doesn't change that.

When I first signed up (maybe 4 yrs ago?), it was more like boutique kind of kids clothes and brands that you couldn't get elsewhere/may not have heard of, with fairly good deals. It seems since it grew in popularity, it is just a way for lots of big brands to sell their stuff at regular sale prices. Sometimes I browse to see cute toys and things I hadn't heard of/thought of for gifts, but usually check Amazon and find that, at least with Zulily charging shipping, it's cheaper on Amazon. Or the reviews are terrible.
And I am sort of over buying clothes there because you can't read reviews, so you really don't know what you are getting in terms of quality... I bought two pairs of maternity pants for $13 each and one had a hole in the crotch as soon as I put them on. Well, I emailed them frustrated, saying I didn't trust the quality and wanted to return both and they immediately refunded me for both and told me I didn't need to return the pants. Sooo... at least they seem to be responsive to customer issues, I'll say.
The Zika virus was not developed by the Illuminati and unleashed upon the world as a population control measure.
I didn't think this was an unpopular opinion until I scanned my Facebook feed this morning...
That's hilarious! The only one I've seen was that it was caused by Brazil's version of the TDaP vaccine. No legitimate website backs up this claim. Conspiracy theorists crack me up and annoy me at the same time.

I also saw that Ebola was the trial run and it wasn't effective enough since it didn't spread past Africa. Zika is attempt 2 at population control...it cracks me up but also scares me that people could be so so so crazy.

I'm a little bit obsessed with conspiracy theories. But when they're being posted by my own immediate family, I start getting a bit nervous.

Yes! Even better when a pregnant mommy or her family stand on railway tracks. You just see the train wreck coming...
