[2/8/16] : Weekly Spam thread!

On my previous BMB we had a spam thread for whatever we wanted to just randomly talk about. I thought I would carry on the tradition here. We used to have one daily, but I think a weekly spam/random thread would be ok to start. Let me know what you think?

GTKY (Getting to Know You): Name your favorite movie and why.
GTKY: Tell us your least favorite movie and why.

My favorite movie is Twister. I love the music, the storm chasing and the funny stuff in there. It isn't the best movie, but for some reason I always love to watch it.

My least favorite movie that I've seen was Punch Drunk Love. I couldn't get past the weird pointless progression. It just wasn't my style.

The first favorite movie that popped into my head was The Shining. It's a god damn masterpiece. Jack Nicholson is at his finest, it's brilliantly directed by Kubrick and there's so much legend, lore and mystery within the film. Have you seen Room 237??

My least favorite might be the Piranha reboot. I've seen all the old ones in their campy, silly glory, but the reboot was just ridiculous.

My favorite movie has always been The Little Mermaid it may seem childish to some but I always loved the music and how she is never afraid to go for what she wants. I can watch it over and over again and still smile every time. Might also explain my mermaid obsession plus living in Hawaii for the past few years doesn't help lol

Least favorite would have to be raunchy comedies i just don't get them thins like 30 year old virgin they just seem stupid and i immediately turn them off

I love movies! Right now my favorite is The Proposal.

Least favorite......... maybe SpaceBalls? I tried to watch it when I was a kid and never finished it.

@PrimRoseMama Twister is a great movie. I was obsessed (read: terrified) with tornadoes as a kid, but I always watched that movie when it came on TV.

@peggyOlsonFTW I need to see The Shining and keep forgetting. Thanks for the reminder.

@itravelsize WHAT, you live in HAWAII?? I saw The Little Mermaid on Broadway and it was amazing--I recommend it.

Favourite movie: To the surprise of exactly nobody, my favourite is The Empire Strikes Back because it is a cinematic masterpiece.

Least Favourite Movie: You know the 40+ movies where Adam Sandler learns to adult? Any of those. His face just irritates me so much.

::throws tantrum:: This is so unfair! What's the deal with this choosing business?? Here goes though- I love just about anything with Tom Hanks or Kevin Spacey. Or Bill Murray. And Horror Movies. And SciFi. And Crime thrillers like the Hannibal movies and Se7en. And and and... I fail at favorites.

Least Favorites? Watch 'Son of God' and 'Enemy' if you want to find some new least favorites. DH and I had a list a movies we would rent, hate, and then recommend them to people and pretend they were amazing.

It's still up in the air whether or not we are bad people.

Omg The Shining is such a creepy movie! Even in the beginning, the way it subtly hints at the creepy things to come, is hard for me to watch. Talk about intense.

That's one of the reasons why I love it!! Give me those creepy ass twins, bloody elevators and nasty old lady any day of the week. For realz though, DH has to limit me to one yearly viewing in October because I would watch it every day if I could.

Favorite Movie: Sooo many. I'd say The Polar Express, Inception, and Harry Potter & The Order of the Phoenix. I went to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter this past fall and seriously even hearing the music just gives me goosebumps. Such a magical place! (such a nerd).
Oooh and The Family Stone.
ETA: well crap, I can't forget Garden State, it is my sn and avatar after all.

Least Favorite: Birth. What a weird movie. It was just ick. And Sideways...my husband loves that movie, and I don't know what it is but I just can't stand it!

@AllyTheKid I knew someone would get upset at that! Like I said, I haven't seen it since middle school and never finished it buuut...I'm pretty sure I still wouldn't like it. We can still be friends!

I'll have to say Clue for favorite, honorable mentions to Spirited Away and Stranger than Fiction.

least favorite- I don't do scary movies or psychological thrillers. I have enough imagination myself, thank you very much. I couldn't look in the bathroom mirror for a WEEK after watching Donnie Darko (and it's good, but get out of my head!). I still thought about Frank for a good several months after it. :::shudders::: I brought my cat with my to the bathroom to protect me.

Favorite movie: Probably bridesmaids. Just too funny! I love a good movie that will make me laugh multiple times.
Least Favorite: hard to say, I usually don't finish watching if I don't think I'll like it. But the creepiest movie that gave me nightmares was jeepers creepers.

I'll have to think of answers but just glad that we are making this a weekly random thread. In my last BMB, there was just 1 stickied random thread and I could never keep up! Weekly seems for manageable.

Honorable mentions for me are : Silence of the Lambs and X-files of course.

More dislikes: I don't like the American Pie movies or anything of that nature. I had to be won over for Bridesmaids and Knocked Up, but those are tolerable.

@PrimRoseMama She's... quirky. I like her. She's also been in Orange is the New Black recently(ish), but I'm not caught up to there yet because I got trapped in an X Files marathon.

Oh yeah! I remember her in that! we are all caught up on OITHNB and just started the X-files. I'm an old-school X-files fan, so I am excited. So far so good.

Least favorite? "This is the End" I think is the title. It was so stupid.

I think I watched that when I was in labor! The movie with Seth Rogen? I barely remember it. Note to self: Don't watch a movie you've never seen that you really want to when in labor pre-epidural. Focus is impossible.

@sidecarsareforbishes I just went in January for my birthday with my husband and it is like you are truly transported into the world. So amazing! I am currently re-reading the series now.

I think my husband even appreciated all of the details JK Rowling put into this world.

Favorite Movie(s): I have a few, but I love Disney (Finding Nemo, Tangled, Sleeping Beauty), Love Actually and i'm sure you can guess it... Harry Potter (though the books are better!).

Least Favorites: I HATE scary movies! ALL of them.

haha, I watched that and something else on my iPad. I can't remember the other movie though. Great Gatsby maybe? Next time I'll watch something I've seen a million times and love.

Favorite movie: hmm...this is so hard...we are avid movie watchers in my house and I have a lot of favorites. Playing by Heart, Keeping the Faith...I am also another X-files junkie! I am liking the new episodes! I really really love movies all kinds so this list could be super long.

@PrimRoseMama I LOVE Twister too! It's one of those movies that I have to watch every time it's on TV. When it came out in 96, my little sister was an infant, like maybe 6 weeks old and I BEGGED my mom to take me to see it so we went with my little sister in her carrier and she slept through the whole thing. It's a good memory

My favorite movie is Dances with Wolves. For some reason, I was oddly drawn to it as a child. Def a weird movie for a little kid to be into but it resonated with me for some reason and still does.

My least favorite movie... that's a hard one but I'll go with the most recent movie that made me want to gouge my eyes out: Ted 2. DH thought it was hilarious. He now owes me big time for sitting thought it. I'm saving my movie credit for a really good historical flick that he would NEVER watch with me otherwise. *Evil laugh*
