TTC After a Loss

OPk question

I have had some timing issues he last few months. This month we are planning on trying as soon as we get a positive OPk. The line has been getting darker the last day but not a positive. I think I will get it later today. Does everyone agree, this is a negative correct?

Re: OPk question

  • Definitely a negative. That is what my OPKs look like throughout my cycle. I always have a second line whether it is the beginning or end of my cycle. As I'm sure you know the test line needs to be as dark or darker than the control. I usually only get one true positive on my OPKs as I am a short surger/usually ovulate pretty soon after a positive.  I have been using the advanced Clearable OPKs because they give me a little more of a heads up as to when my body is gearing up to do something.

  • I agree with PP, definitely a negative. I JUST got my first ever positive OPK this morning (this is my 3rd cycle after loss). It was really obvious - darker than the control, and started darkening as soon as the "test" line was crossed. Keep testing - I started testing with FMU (I use CVS brand and it says to use FMU) and also test at 5:30 PM after I get home from work. Keep going, but don't let it frustrate the mess out of you.

Mine have progressively gotten darker but then lightened again without ever getting as dark as the control line. My positive today is DEFINITELY as dark as the control.... If not a tad bit darker. Yours is a negative in my book. I feel like my positive is way more noticeable than even I thought it would be. There's no question.

I can show you if you want.

  • It looks like a negative to me. I've found that I usually have a few tests that look really close to positive 2-3 days before I get a "real" positive. I switched to the First Response Test & Confirm kit this month and loved it because they give you one digital test to confirm when you think you've hit a positive :-)

  • Is this your first month using OPKs? If so, you'll just have to wait and see what your personal pattern is. For me, I have never turned an OPK positive - I get *almost* positives that fade in and then out over 2-3 days. This happened even the cycle I got pregnant, and I chart temps, so I KNOW I'm ovulating. This is just how Wondfos work for me.

Thats a a long winded way to say that it might be worth it to have sex today or tomorrow if your OPKs are getting darker, just in case you fall into the group that never gets a positive. That, and chart your temps so you know if you ovulated.
  • That opk is negative.

I can tell you that I have gotten a true positive.  I just go by darkening and with the help of temping, I have always managed to catch ovulation.

Are you taking them twice daily.  It can be easy to miss the surge.
