Lifting weights and pregnancy?

Hey, who here lifts weights?  I meet one of my friends at the gym every Weds and we do mostly hiit but spot each other for some free weights sometimes.  I'm wondering how much I can do now that I'm pregnant and I don't want to send any alarms off to her that I'm pregnant yet since it's so early.  Has anyone looked into this and what are the guidelines?

  • My doctor told me I could continue doing whatever I was used to pre pregnancy. But to pay attention to my body. If I was cramping or feeling anything unusual to stop.

  • I second that!  If you were already doing it, shouldn't be a problem. You might find yourself running out of breath a little easier though, I have found I need to take an extra breather or two. Just listen to your body  :)

  • Seconding all of the above. If your body is used to it, stick with it as long as your body tells you to.
