Discharge Question?

Hey ladies, I have a quick question for you. I've noticed when I've wiped the past two weeks once and a while my discharge is a lime green color. I don't have any itching, discomfort and there's no odor. I brought it up to my doctor yesterday and he seemed completely not concerned. He's always pretty lienent which can feel frustrating when I come to him with concerns but he is overall a good doctor and I want to trust his opinion. I probably did the worst thing and started looking to Google for more info when I noticed a decent amount again this morning. Most people said green or yellow means infections and there's the possibility of hurting baby or even to the extreme of pre-term labor. My question is if anyone else has/is experiencing this and if it went away by itself or if it could be more serious?

Re: Discharge Question?

  • It's good doctor isn't concerned, could prenatals have an effect? I know mine can turn my pee neon.

  • I didn't think of that, I've been consistently taking the same brand of prenatals since before I became pregnant but with my body changing it could be affecting it!
  • I know too much vitamin B can change things neon colors, but not sure about discharge
  • My dr always says to call with green discharge. You can call over to labor and delivery and leave a message for the on call if you want a second opinion.
  • Sounds like a yeast infection. Mine was light yellowish green the other day and my doctor tested and said early signs of a yeast infection. So if yours is that green it's probably a full yeast infection. I would call the doctor back and ask them if you could come in and be checked again.
  • Hey, I'm a doctor and honestly that doesn't sound like anything to worry about. If you have an infection you would have persistent discoloured discharge, it would be extremely unusual to have an infection and only have funny coloured discharge occasionally with completely normal discharge in between. Also it would likely be offensive smelling, or itchy or uncomfortable in some way - itchy and thick white discharge for yeast infection, uncomfortable with thin whitish grey discharge and fishy smell for bacterial vaginitis etc.

Like I say I wouldn't worry about it too much. Its common to get funny changes in discharge during pregnancy. If it's going to keep concerning you though, you could just ask next time you see the OB for a swab, to make sure.
