Re: Weds/Thurs Ticker Change 2/4

  • Week/ fruit: 24/cantaloupe

    Rants/raves/symptoms:

rants- low sex drive, bh, starting to feel really emotional, difficulty sleeping, and my favorite, headaches on the daily!

raves: feeling those baby kicks, awesome hair and nails, nesting is starting to kick in.

    Upcoming appointments: Feb 11th

Questions for the group: none right now.

GTKY: Are you having cravings? If so, what?
In the first tri, I was craving cheeseburgers and all of the salty foods. Now I've shifted to sweet things, but I don't need it like I needed a cheeseburger in the first trimester.

    Week/ fruit: 27, Edited: Rutabega! Thanks, @js8812!

Rants/raves/symptoms: Bending straight over now seems to knock the wind out of me. Lots and lots of squatting going on here now. I'm loving the baby kicks though, and for a brief period, he actually moved head-down! (Then he moved back...) I love that DS likes to lean against my belly now while this LO is moving. LO kicks at him, and DS giggles. It's so adorable.

Upcoming appointments: Chiropractor on Friday (I really recommend it if you have one that's certified in the webster technique!) Glucose test Saturday, next OB appt isn't for a while.

Questions for the group: none at the moment

GTKY: Are you having cravings? If so, what? Guacamole, spicy things, salads, cookies (trying to get this one under control!) I feel like I need to eat more protein...I just barely meet my quota each day. I've been eating mostly veggies because of my cravings.
  • @kbrands7 are you using my fitness pal or an app to track your protein/caloric intake? I used it all the time pre-pregnancy, and recently started again, but it's so hard for me to remember to log everything! I kind of have a grazing diet right now. Lots of frequent, small bites.
  • I am-- I'm using it mostly to be sure I'm in the right ball-park for nutrients and also not wayyy over the necessary calories. On the weekends, I can graze and it works well. On workdays, I'm sort of boxed into specific eating times and it becomes more difficult then. I feel like I'm always grabbing a greek yogurt or whole milk or something at the very end of the day to top off my protein. Ultimately, it works, but I hate feeling like I'm just there when with DS I have major protein cravings so I was always easily at my target by lunchtime. Maybe it's just early second-child guilt :)

oh man, I completely understand this feeling!
  • Week/ fruit:  25/Cauliflower or baseball glove via Ovia... @kbrands7 TB says rutabaga for 27 weeks.  Give yourself some more credit!

Rants/raves/symptoms: I'm feeling great.  No rants this week!

Upcoming appointments: the 24th for my regular appointment and glucose test

Questions for the group: none today.

GTKY: Are you having cravings? If so, what?  I don't think I'm having pregnancy specific cravings per se. I mean there are many times pre-pregnancy that I really wanted something, so it's really no different for me.

Comment:  Sooo I know three people in the past month who have had their babies 1-2 months early.  Holy panic!!!!  Two months early would be next month for us.
  • Week/ fruit: 26 weeks/head of lettuce or a Slow Loris according to my Ovia app

Rants/raves/symptoms: So sick of having a cold that won't go away. I managed to sneeze hard enough on Tuesday that I think I popped a rib out of place, so now every time I sneeze or cough I get a sharp pain there.
Other than the cold stuff I feel pretty good!

Upcoming appointments: Today I go in to the OB for regular appt plus the glucose screening, tomorrow I have a chiropractor appt and hopefully will have my rib squished back to where it goes.

Questions for the group: Is anyone else gaining weight faster than they think they should? I really am trying to eat healthy, and get exercise, and I'm still up like 25lbs which seems excessive. (It IS all in my belly though... nowhere else)

GTKY: Are you having cravings? If so, what? Not really. I usually have specific things that sound good for each meal, but nothing I just can't live without.
  • @jenbkc I'm up 25lbs now too and also generally eating healthy and still exercising. Last pregnancy, my weight went on much faster in the beginning also, but I also wasn't as strict with portions. Some women just gain a lot, then lose a lot. My tendency in pregnancy seems to be to gain a little in the first tri, gain around 15lbs in the second tri, then gain like crazy towards the end of the second tri into the third tri. It slows down at the end again. If you're concerned though, you can always ask you doctor for input.
  • @kbrands7 Thank you, that makes me feel better. So far my doc hasn't been worried about my weight gain, but I will ask her again at my appt today.
  • @Jenly17 I was super anti sweets until recently they have started sounding good again, I really liked not craving candy bars so I'm trying to just say no!

  • Week/ fruit: 26, head of lettuce

rants: last night I slammed my finger in my closet and it set of an eruption of tears about every little dumb thing stressing me out
raves: DH has been on his A+ game :) and he listened to all my silly problems that piled up

Upcoming appointments: Just got back from one! I did the 1 hour glucose test and it was really not a big deal at ask. The drink was fine and I feel fine. I was disappointed that it didn't make baby have a sugar buzz. The doctor listened to the heart and said, probably sleeping because it is so steady. Then I got to have the R- shot (that one hurt), and the TDap (barely felt it). I'm a wimp so my arm is already sore

    Questions for the group:

GTKY: Are you having cravings? If so, what? No cravings thankfully

@jenbkc I had to look up what a loris was..  Omg cute!

  • Week/ fruit: 26/Cauliflower/Baseball Glove on Ovia

Rants/raves/symptoms: Still. Can. Not. Breathe. While. Trying. To. Sleep.

Upcoming appointments: 3/1, for 28wk appt and glucose challenge test. I had my 24wk appt this past Tuesday and they gave me the fruit punch flavor because it was the only one in stock...here's to hoping I don't hate it. I'm mostly just really nervous that I'll throw up, because for an hour afterward I can't have anything at all, including water...and while I haven't thrown up in weeks, I still gag to the point of nausea if my throat gets dry (which it does often) and I don't have a drink available. :P

Questions for the group: Seriously, if anybody has suggestions to help with breathing better at night beyond sleeping while sitting straight up, I am all ears. It feels like there's something heavy sitting on my chest otherwise.

GTKY: Are you having cravings? If so, what? TACOS. I always want tacos. With lots of tomatoes and sour cream. Preferably crunchy, though I used to hate super crunchy stuff before I got pregnant.

  • @mrsktobe09 are you getting over a cold? I had issues with breathing while I was laying down and it was because a cold made some sort of respiratory issue flare up. They gave me an albuterol inhaler, which helped quite a bit. Eventually they switched me to a stronger steroid inhaler and now I sleep pretty well and I can breathe!

Week/ fruit: 25/ Cantaloupe oops, I guess I'm cauliflower this week

Rants/raves/symptoms: I'm feeling good this week (very little back pain) and hoping it continues!

Upcoming appointments: Feb 23 (Glucose tolerance test)

    Questions for the group:

GTKY: Are you having cravings? If so, what? I craved beef/burgers in my first trimester, which probably hasn't helped with my weight gain this pregnancy. Nothing specific in the second trimester so far.

Nope. I'm actually surprised that I haven't been sick at all (*knocks on wood that this continues*). I do have occasional allergies, though they usually only bother me in the morning. But I'm breathing through my nose just fine, and I'm okay when I'm sitting up...I just feel like I can't take a deep enough breath or get enough air in my system when I'm laying evenly slightly down. Do you think this could be something caused by allergies? Or is it just a regular pregnancy thing (oh God I hope it's not a regular pregnancy thing). I hate going to bed now, and I'm hating the idea that I might be spending the next few months like this.

That was so me! Turkey burgers didn't cut it- beef all the way. Which by the way was really out of character for me.
  • Week/ fruit: wk25/ cauliflower

Rants/raves/symptoms: migraines and lightheaded all the time but my skin is clear and my hair and nails are growing so quickly! Lots of movement these days which I LOVE!!

Upcoming appointments: Had my appt yesterday and it went well baby is growing properly and I have only gained 5lbs back of the 22 I lost! Dr says I'm maintaining well and gave me some pointers for my dips in blood sugar

Questions for the group: none that I can think of

GTKY: Are you having cravings? If so, what? No cravings at all so far!
  •  Late to the game sorry!

    Week/ fruit: 24/cantaloupe

Rants: Annoyed that I have so many appointments lately that I finally had to stack a few in one afternoon and take PTO. OB, PT, Sonogram/specialist to make sure they don't think I have Zika, Dentist, toddler's checkup on her ear tubes.. all this month! Also, too broke for cravings lately lol

Raves: DH is awesome lately. Very sweet and always reads my thoughts, brings me water, tells me to sit and takes over with toddler/chores.

Symptoms: Bad pelvic pain, maybe SPD? I start Physical Therapy next week.

Upcoming appointments: PT and sonogram 2/10

Questions for the group: None at the moment

GTKY: Are you having cravings? If so, what? Sonic blasts/DQ blizzards, fried okra, bean & cheese burritos, hot Cheetos. Nothing healthy, of course! :/

I have allergies as well. I was able to breathe through my nose just fine too and surprisingly I think that made my throat even more dry than breathing through my mouth. It really does sound very similar to my breathing issues. As soon as an hour after I used the steroid, my cough cleared and I felt like I could take the deepest breath ever. It was amazing. My OB referred me back to my primary Doctor so I don't think it's just a pregnancy thing. Although, it's possible the pregnancy has made something else flare up (asthma or some other respiratory issue).

  • Week/Fruit: 26/Head of Lettuce

Rants/Raves/Symptoms: extreme fatigue, lots of hunger, spurts of emotion (my hormones are insane!). My fiancé has also been pretty wonderful lately, cooking (ordering out), cleaning, making sure I rest. Two days ago a nerve in my back pretty much prevented me from walking. That's was pretty rough.

Upcoming Appointment: Friday the 12th--glucose and pre-natal appt

Questions for the Group: Not now

GTKY (Cravings): Nothing crazy, sometimes i want a certain meal, but in my first trimester I only wanted spices and veggies. Then at the beginning of the second trimester I wanted meat. Now everything has pretty much calmed down.

I'm going to call my doctor about it on Monday. Last night was the worst night I've had yet, and right now I'm sitting straight up and I still feel like I can't get enough air. I know to expect to get out of breath much more quickly than before, but this is getting ridiculous.
