HCG Levels (balling my eyes out) not out the woods

I got my hcg level back. At 10dpo (monday) it was 6. At 13 dpo (today) it is 53. The nurse said if I'm roughly 5 weeks along it should be in the 500s. I think I'm barely 4 weeks. Why did she say it should be in the 500s? Is this true? My son's first hcg level was 69 and I don't think I was "late" when I had that checked but, I can't recall for sure.

I've waited 3 days for reassurance and now I feel worse

I've never had my hcg levels tested, however from what I understand you want it to double between 48-72hrs and yours more than doubled. 13dpo would put you right around 4 weeks not 5 so I'm not sure why she said that. In a week you hcg could easily hit 500 if it doubles every couple days.

Right now now you are pregnant and your hcg is increasing. That is good!

You are doubling for sure. I don't know all of the science behind hcg, but I know math. And it's supporting your situation. Hugs to you either way! I can see why so many doctors don't do hcg testing. It can cause so much stress! I'm definitely rooting for you!

I only got it done because I only have one tube and want to know if it is ectopic or not asap. Otherwise, I wouldn't bother because ignorance is bliss.

Lots of thoughts for you. I'm sure this is more stressful when it was supposed to calm you. If it is any help, these are the hcg my doctors lab used when they tested me and you fall completely within range. I was only at 44 on DPO 12 and they were happy with that.

I'm sorry! But try to relax, your numbers did double and that is a very good thing! Like others said right now you are pregnant and that's all that matters. Are they going to check them again in a few days!?

I'm not cramping, I'm not bleeding, and my numbers more than doubled. I think the nurse threw me off. I'm barely 4 weeks and she thinks I'm 5. But I charted so I KNOW I ovulated late in my cycle.

Anyway. Repeat beta Monday.

go with that then. silly nurses told me I was miscarrying with my first because of my bleeding and my low hcg but the whining 3.5 year old who's peeing all over the floor instead of making it into the toilet kind of proves that theory wrong! Go with your gut. Your numbers are more then doubling and you have no signs of miscarriage. Thats great news

I think the numbers doubling are far more important than the actual number. I had a MC before this pregnancy and my levels were in the thousands, but none of that mattered because they were taking 5 days to double. So again, it's really not the number as much as it is the doubling time. Fx for you that your numbers will continue to show a healthy increase ❤

Can I ask a question to anyone who might have insight? Is it recommended to get levels checked based off having a history of an ectopic or based off only having one tube? My doctor doesn't see me until 10 weeks, not even for testing, and it is freaking me out.

@smmatt08 Both offices I've ever been to pregnant only check levels if there is a reason to check levels. As in - bleeding, cramping, or other signs the pregnancy might be ectopic or not viable. I've found that most offices wait until 8 - 10 weeks because thats when they can a good read on a transvaginal u/s. Or what I finely refer to as a dildo cam. Thanking of you. Try not to stress about it. Obviously if you have any questions or concerns about how your OB does it, call them and ask! bother them! You pay them for their expertise.

@bornmommy covered it mostly. Its not always common to check beta HCG levels. My doctor doesn't see me until 8 weeks (and even then I don't know if I'll be actually 8 weeks, but more likely 6 weeks and 6 days).

FF has me projected to start my period tomorrow. If I go by ovulation / conception I'm 4W1D.

@iceandsnowflakes29 : My LMP was 12/28 ... so we are within days of each other. Do you have another beta draw or is it just "the long wait" until you can get a TV ultrasound?

Thanks @bornmommy . I've never had an ectopic or mc but I only have one tube (and ovary) so I'm a little stressed. I know I can call my doctor's office anytime. 5 more weeks is just so long to wait to know that everything is ok! It's weird that the only way I know I am pregnant is from a HPT, my doctor's office doesn't even confirm it. Also, I have had my fair share of transvaginal u/s, they hardly phase me anymore!
