Rice cereal

we got the ok to start cereal.. Tried it several times and he scream and cries bloody murder... Is this normal for some babies like they need to get used to it? Anyone else?

Re: Rice cereal

  • I got the okay from my pediatrician as well. It's taken her a couple days to get use to it. The first time she cried. My pediatrician said if she cried to just wait and try it again later that day or the next day.

  • My baby didn't cry but he certainly didn't like it. I waited two weeks and tried banana. He still wasn't really into it. So I'll wait another two weeks and maybe try cereal again. I think every baby is just ready at a different time.
  • Both of my girls didn't like it at first. DD1 liked it MUCH more after we made it thicker (like cream of wheat). We didn't start her until 6 months. DD2 had to start earlier to get more calories. She eats it, but it's not her favorite. She prefers the purees. I used to mix the cereal with some of my fruit purees and a little breastmilk for DD1 and that worked great.

  • My LO IS 19 weeks and got the okay for cereal Monday. She hates it!!! She cries when I give it to her and I'm sure she barely actually swallows any. She absolutely hates it. I try a couple bites and after a few minutes of tears I'll stop trying ...
  • My daughter would eat it with no issues, but it made her sooo crazy gassy that we quit feeding it to her. On the days that she ate it, she would scream alll evening long. Once it wasout of her system, so was good to go. I gave her bananas the other day and she are them with no screaming or crying.
