I feel for all you ladies. My neighbor's 3-week old is in the hospital with RSV and she now has pneumonia too. She's on oxygen and can't come off until the pneumonia is gone. I keep giving my LO an extra squeeze because I can't help but imagine him in each of your LO's shoes and I'm terrified he'll get RSV. I'm praying for all of you!
I can't even imagine. And all of this makes me so nervous because my son always has a cough and some congestion because of his reflux, so if he got it I probably wouldn't even realize it right away.
All you mamas and your babies are in my thoughts. Here's to quick recoveries and the strength to make it through seeing your little ones sick.
Well, they started oxygen today and no improvement, so just now they put in an IV and started the fast flow oxygen. This is the worst night ever! We could use some prayers for Charlotte, and I'll pray for all the LOs that are sick too. This is so heartbreaking

I'm so sorry for you & the other moms dealing with this. I hope she gets off oxygen soon but glad she's getting the care she needs.
JStill0603 - Runny nose, eyes tearing, and lots of drool on Monday. Mild cough on Wednesday. Fever Thursday night into Friday (on and off over the next few days). Harsh cough and trouble breathing (retracting tummy) on Saturday. He was admitted to the hospital on Saturday night. The only reasons babies are usually admitted for RSV are if they are tummy breathing, meaning they can't get enough air, a fever that's way too high, or if the coughing is preventing them from eating enough. Then they'll be admitted and given oxygen and/or an IV. Unfortunately, because it's a virus, you just have to wait it out. Most people can handle the symptoms at home since they don't get to that point. If you find your LO is having trouble breathing or seems stuffy/runny, use saline and suction as much as possible. That's the best thing to do.

Praying for baby Charlotte. Keep us posted please!
Miss C is starting to develop croup now. A steroid treatment has just begun to open her airway. Her tummy breathing is awful-her airways are swollen. If this doesn't help, then the icu at children's.
@DogLoverX3 my little boy had croup a few weeks back, the steroids the hospital gave him really helped, I could notice an improvement within an hour. I'm praying you have the same outcome!
Positive update here.. Day 6 and things are looking up for us. Only needed one breathing treatment this morning and breathing looks much more relaxed. Threw up once which is an improvement from yesterday. Was worried about dehydration as he didn't have a wet diaper in over 12 hours, but has since picked up. Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes!
Thinking of baby Charlotte (and mommy/daddy) and praying for a positive update from you guys!

Ugh I'm so sorry you guys are going through this all! Hope things turn a corner very soon! Thinking of you.

Update: she's now on breathing treatments every 2 hours and got a second dose of steroids. She's on 30% oxygen and 6 liter(that's as high as they'll go for her weight) to open her lungs. Thanks for all the prayers!
It is going around at our day care. I didn't like the way he sounded breathing wise after a couple days..he didn't have mucousy cough, is eating, no fever but my dr said with the way chest sounds I think rsv..well test came back negative. Today she said she was so surprised about results, so still treating as broncoliticus. Watching for fever, not eating, breathing worse, cough. So my advice if something doesn't seem right and you have an infant bring them in to dr because you never know and it could get very bad. Hard because symptoms just like a cold, but you can tell something not right with your baby
Charlotte's settings are still the highest they'll allow at 6 liter, and then 30% oxygen, but seems to be responding well to the albuterol treatments every 2 hours and the steroids every 6 hours through her IV to keep her airway open. So good news! We are going to drop to 5 liters and 28% oxygen and see if she can hold her own. Also, going to spread out breathing treatments to every 3 hours. No transfer to children's hospital yet! Thanks so much for asking!
Lots of cuddles with daddy, mommy, and a giraffe!!!
So you mommas whose kids have RSV... Did your LOs have pretty congested noses? Zeke is currently a little Snuffalufagus and I'm terrified it's more than a cold (mostly thanks to this thread and my neighbor's 3 week old who's in the hospital with RSV)... He's not had much of an appetite today since it's difficult for him to eat

My LO was congested. We used the saline spray and nose Frida and sucked so much out. I definitely recommend both! We did it before feedings so he could breathe out of his nose. Hopefully your LO just has a stuffy nose and that's it!

Exactly that. The problem with Charlotte is that there is so much mucus and so deep, we couldn't get it. She's been sucked by a deep suction device here multiple times a day, including before feedings(when she was eating), to clear all the mucus. She's starting bottles again slowly-still choking and puking periodically with them do to the high flow oxygen. But yes, we were actually kept here Monday and Tuesday because of all the mucus and then we went down hill from there.

Yes, it started as congestion. There are other signs such as abdominal retractions and wheezing.
Thanks ladies. So far it's still mostly just the congestion with a few coughs here and there. We've been trying to get him fresh air and have him sleep at an incline and it seems to kind of be helping. Poor guy has been super grumps today though - crying most of the day. I'll probably call the pediatrician tomorrow if he hasn't improved... Like someone else said, I don't want to be the mom who calls for every little sniffle but I also want to make sure Zeke is okay.

We took Charlotte to immediate care who sent us to peds Emergency a week ago. They sent us home. We were back the next day and never left. Even if you go too early or call too early, they can check for it, and then if something comes up, everyone is ready.
Baby Phillip was diagnosed with rsv on January 30th took him about a week and a half for him to be back to his normal non coughing self. Saturday it started with the sniffles and it is getting progressively worse. He has such a bad cough again maybe even worse than when he had rsv. He is also throwing up a lot after he eats.
I'm clueless to rsv, can it reoccur worse than before? Is the throwing up a reflux?

According to Doctor Google, they can get RSV more than once, but usually it's milder after the first go-round. That being said, it could still be RSV. I would suggest a trip to the pediatrician
