Everything baby registry

Hubby says i cant buy any baby stuff till after the baby shower. Mines planned for the second week in April and my friends are pushing for me to finish my registry. What did you stm put on your registry and what did you decide you wanted to buy on your own? I feel like im putting things on there, like a crib and car seat, that are too expensive for someone to buy me. Yet i have a ton of family and friends who want to come and i feel like i dont have enough stuff on my registry. To top that off im a ftm and dont even know what to put on my registry. Help!

    1.  I recommend doing a search for this.  There are tons of helpful threads!

    2. People like to go in on "big gifts".  Like your close friends on a large ticket item, for example.

    3.  Keep big items on  your registry, because even if you don't get them, you will get a completion discount to buy them once you are registered for them.  Some are 10-20% off depending on the store.

    100% what @nicknshan said!
  • DH's best friend surprised us by buying our stroller car seat combo from our registry. It was totally unexpected. I was secretly really glad I had it on there. You're not losing anything by putting it on there and like others said, completion discount!

  • Put everything on there.  It is crazy what people want to buy you, especially since this is your first.  I would recommend if you are breastfeeding, putting supplies on there (like bags and stuff). I was shy at first putting that there but someone made me a basket and it was really nice.  Also, medicine, diapers and your big items.  I had to add to my registry because my best friend kept an eye on my list and most items were bought.  I did not buy one big item with my first, people bought them because they went in on things together.  If they don't get it for you, you will get a discount on the items when you go to buy.
  • I just registered at Babies R Us last week.  My mom and I went, it was SO much fun but so exhausting lol.  We were at the store for 3+ hours.  But when you go in to make your registry, they do give you a check list of the essentials to put on your registry, which was helpful.
I don't think you can put too much on your registry.  Plus, afterwards, everything that you have left is 10% off.  So I put somethings on mine that I don't expect anyone to get, but it will be nice to get the discount later.  Plus, on top of that, you get a kick back gift card for everything bought off your registry, even if you buy it yourself.
  • @amangels2 What is a kick back gift card?

You get 5%-10% back of what was spent I believe, can't remember exact terms/amounts but I'm pretty excited about it.
  • Yes. What kayla2536 said. For the first $300 spent you get 5% back. After that you get 10% back on money spent. I mean it's not a ton of money but I figure every little bit helps  so I'm pretty excited about it.
  • Sometimes people go into large items together. It's worth it to put it on there and no one is forced to purchase it if they don't want to.
  • Start a registry on Amazon. When you do you have the option of looking through suggestions from the Baby Bargains book - their good, better, best - and then it links directly to the product. That will get you started with some of the main essentials with great options to choose from. Absolutely put big items on your registry - can't hurt.
