Baby spits up bottle

I EBF but have started pumping and DH is giving DS one bottle a day so he can start getting used to the bottle before going to daycare. Every so often DS spits up what seems like his entire bottle. He will drink a little and then spit up, drink more, spit up, drink more, spit up etc. I don't think it's due to over eating because he spits up from the very beginning. He rarely every spits up when breastfeeding and I've tried a few different brand bottles so I don't think that's the issue either. Anyone advise or other moms having this issue?

  • What bottle are you using? Maybe he's drinking too fast.

  • There is a YouTube video about bottle pacing. That might help!
  • We have tried Avent, Nuk, and now dr. Browns. He's been doing the best with dr. Browns so that's what we've been sticking with the last week or so.

I will check out bottle pacing thanks!

Henry does best with Dr. Browns with a preemie nipple. It's slow flow similar to breastfeeding. Any other nipple and he swallows too much air, chokes and gags.

We've been using a preemie nipple & Dr. Brown's bottles as well. Sometimes she flat out refuses to take it, but we keep trying every couple of days. I just want her to get used to having a bottle occasionally. We started at 4weeks & have been attempting a bottle more often now. We have to take it out of her mouth so she can burp more often, but not leave it out too long or she'll get frustrated. It's a very particular process. Maybe just try to slow down a bit & switch between bottle & pacifier so LO can keep sucking but not get too much at once.
