Baby poo question-STMs help?

Maybe some STMs can help me. My LO is 4 weeks old and I think her poo has changed a bit. I can't tell for sure as I've been sleep deprived and I may just be an over worried FTM. But my question is does EBF baby poop feel slimy or does that indicate mucus in her poo? It doesn't look stringy or have clumps in it but it is really shiny and felt really slimy when I cleaned up a blow out from one of her onsies. So now I'm worried she has mucous in her stool. Is that normal or should I call her Ped?

  • What color is it? Green and mucousy can indicate a food allergy or intolerance.

  • Its not green. It is the mustard yellow color.
  • Yellow seedy and runny is optimal.
  • Yellow seedy shiny poop is normal .
  • Ha ok. I am probably worrying over nothing. I just thought it wasn't as seedy as is had been and I didn't know if it was supposed to feel sSO slimy as I have never felt new born poo before having one! Thanks!
  • I have a poo question, too. LO is two weeks old and hasn't pooped in almost 36 hours, and I'm starting to get nervous. Especially since she went from pooping multiple times a day to once a day, now this.  Anybody have LOs who poop infrequently?

I've heard of some babies who don't go for a week! I've heard as long as it doesn't look like baby is straining/constipated with rock hard poo you're okay!

My baby did the same thing at about that same age! The pediatrician told me that it's normal for babies to not poop for a few days! As long as they're peeing normally there's nothing to worry about :)
  • Update: baby's poo now has a few chunky green boogerish bits in it. Darn it. I was hoping I was just imagining/over thinking. Looks like we will be going to Dr tomorrow...
  • @scornwell717 @Achae thanks! She's a peeing machine so that makes me feel MUCH better! :)
  • My baby's poop wasn't that seedy and I asked pedi about it and she said that my baby probably wasn't getting enough hindmilk. She suggested to feed her on one breast and then after I burped her to go back to that same breast and let her finish. She said maybe I was switching breasts too soon and wasnt getting enough of the fatty part of the milk. Maybe you could try that.
