Re: High-Risk Check-In 2/1/16

  • How far along are you? 13 + 5

How are you feeling? Really crummy. The MS is still so bad, and I'm on the third different prescription from the doctor to manage it. I also have some sort of sinus thing, and all the drainage in my throat is not helping my gag reflex. I've been sick more this week than the rest of my pregnancy combined. :(

Why are you high-risk? Incompetent cervix, preterm labor with DS.

Do you have any upcoming appointments or procedures? A cerclage early on Wednesday morning.

What questions do you have? None... Just nervous about the cerclage.

GTKY: What have you been craving lately? Lemon anything. Lately, I've been really into Noosa yogurt, and the lemon flavor is divine. Also, lemon sorbet and just plain lemons are hitting the spot.

  • @skelly70  good luck with your cerclage. I hope you have a smooth recovery. This was my fourth I didn't think I was gonna get nervous but I did lol.
  • @presh116 Thanks. I hope you feel better soon!
  • Thank you @skelly70  me too
  • @lgem4 thank you and I hope speedy recovery for you as well. The night I went home from surgery I was in a lot of pain. I did take pain meds the next say I was in pain but took tylenol. The second day after surgery I was a little achy. For five days after surgery I was on bed rest. Yesterday I went back to work but I was cramping so my dr sent me home. Today I have my dr visit I'm hoping everything is ok.

  • Hey everyone! Since there was interest in bringing the check-in back, let's do it!

How far along are you?  11w1d

How are you feeling?  Still worn down with nausea

Why are you high-risk?  Incompetent cervix

Do you have any upcoming appointments or procedures?  Cerclage goes in 15 days from now.  I had the panorama test and this new heredity test.  I should get results in a week.  Praying for a healthy baby.

What questions do you have?  No questions.  Good luck to all that have procedures coming up.

GTKY: What have you been craving lately?  tomatoes and chocolate milk.  Exactly like my youngest son.

  • I made it through the cerclage...very uncomfortable and achy right now, but I'm finally home. Thanks for your kind wishes, ladies. I hope everyone is having a good day!
  • How far along are you? 14 weeks

How are you feeling? Much better! I am not nauseated anymore, but my appetite is still iffy. I can eat 3 small meals a day but that's about it. I've lost a total of 20 lbs but my BMI is still great so no worries for baby.

Why are you high-risk? I have a unicornute uterus

Do you have any upcoming appointments or procedures? I see MFM at 16 weeks for a cervical length check, my OB for a typical monthly appointment at 18 weeks, and MFM again at 19 weeks for my anatomy scan and another cervical length check.

What questions do you have? Just hoping my cervical length stays as long as a football field so I have a good chance of making it to 36+ weeks.  Also can't wait to find out gender on Sunday! I wish I had a UU buddy...

GTKY: What have you been craving lately? Cupcakes!

    How are you feeling?
So far, so good! Just tired.
    Why are you high-risk?
    Weak cervix
Do you have any upcoming appointments or procedures?
Possibly beginning to talk about a cerclage in the next few weeks.
    What questions do you have?
Those of you with a cerclage, have you experienced preterm delivery? My new ob seems hesitant to place one because I haven't delivered prematurely although I continuously had painless dilation from 5 months to 7 months when I ended up at 7 cm.

  • @Iristhewild My oldest son was born at 25 weeks.  I began effacing and dilating prematurely and painlessly around 22w.  By the time anyone figured out I was too far effaced for any intervention other than steroids and drugs to stop labor.  I ended up holding steady for a week, but an infection in the chorion eventually caused me to go into full blown labor.  There was nothing they could do to stop.  I actually delivered on Mag.  Anyways, my doctor never even suggested we not get a cerclage.  I have noticed that if you were successful on bedrest that they don't suggest a cerclage as quickly.
  • @DDRRT1982
It makes me extremely nervous to think about not getting a cerclage placed. With my first I started dilating around 33 weeks, so it wasn't too terrible. My second I started to funnel and dilate in my 5th month so I started bedrest and p17 injections weekly. Still ended up dilating to a 4, and then continued to do so until I held steady at a 7 by 7 months. I was dilated to an 8 when I walked into my 37 week appointment and was rushed over to L&D. I guess I just can't see why he wouldn't want to do one. I've never had any sort of surgery, but I think this would ease my mind quite a bit. I was just curious if preterm labor had to take place to be considered for one because in my mind I thought I was a good candidate. Lol

  • @Iristhewild I wasn't diagnosed with incompetent cervix until nearly 30 weeks when I was pregnant with DS. It was too late to do a cerclage (they won't do them after 22 weeks? Something like that), so I was on bed rest and progesterone until I went into labor at 36 weeks. I was also in the hospital twice prior to that with contractions and threatened preterm labor.

My doctor laid out all the options but suggested the cerclage because it was the best option to keep me active and able to care for my toddler.

It seems like they're fairly common when you're on the message boards, but from what I've gathered, they really aren't that popular an option. The staff at the hospital where I got mine yesterday said they only see a couple a year, and I live in a metropolitan area. It might not be something your doctor has much experience with.
  • I'm a few days late this week, but better late than never!

    How far along are you?
    12w 6d

    How are you feeling?
pretty good today. I still have waves of nausea and I've had some killer headaches, but there are days that (other than the insane discharge) I could probably forget I was pregnant.

    Why are you high-risk?
My last baby was a preemie. I pprom'd at 33w4d after an otherwise uneventful pregnancy. They now think I was dilating silently since I had had spotting and lost my mucus plug about a week before hand. After he was born, they couldn't find any other reason for the pprom.

Do you have any upcoming appointments or procedures?
I've got my first makena appointment on 2/26, and I'll get a cervical length scan about a week after that.

    What questions do you have?
    none

GTKY: What have you been craving lately?
today, English muffins with grape jelly. Most days- cold Italian bread from subway. Not the whole sub, I just want the bread.

  • @Iristhewild This is actually my seventh pregnancy, I have two living children. My first pregnancy they had no idea I had IC lost my son at 20 wks. I also lost my other son at 17 weeks due to a failed cerclage. My four yr old son I was on bed rest refused the cerclage but I was being monitored very closley my cervical length was 1.2 at 21 weeks being on strict bed rest so they did a rescue cerclage.
  • @lgem4 no I'm sorry I don't have expierence with this. Try calling labor and delivery ask one of the nurses she may tell you to come in to have it looked at. Good luck hope its nothing serious
  • I bleed like a stuck pig after my cerclage.  I have had chunks of stuff too come out shortly after the procedure.  They always check me, so that's best that you went in.  Better safe than sorry.

  • @lgem4 glad to hear everything is ok
  • Hi!
Im 10 weeks, high risk due to Crohn's disease. I'll have extra anatomy scans and will see a Crohn's pregnancy specialist as well a my regular GI and OB.
Feeling exceptionally pukey and craving all things dairy is NOT helping

    How are you feeling? Great

Why are you high-risk? over 35, gestional diabetes, had Oligohydramnios with DD1

Do you have any upcoming appointments or procedures? Just had an appointment last week- just a check up. Doctor recommended my 20 week ultrasound be with the specialist so they measure and look at baby in more detail to make sure everything looks good (so, now of course I am freaking out about that). That is due to the diabetes.

    What questions do you have?

GTKY: What have you been craving lately? I can't eat most yummy things due to the diabetes... My favorite indulge dinner is pizza and ice cream (cookie dough!). Would love that

  • 14 weeks tomorrow.
i am high risk due to hyperthyroidism.
Just had my levels tested and they are in the normal range, but I feel like I am always short of breath and my pulse is high. Sitting its around 100. If I start standing 110. Giving kids a bath it can go up to 120... I feel like I am working out without working out. My endo dr said it can't be thyroid because my levels are good.... Anyone else have a higher pulse with their pregnancy???
