Mamas in NYC- Where are you giving birth? What hospitals would you recommend in Manhattan!

Hello ladies-

Had my first OB checkin yesterday and it went great! We saw the heartbeat, did blood tests and I'm scheduled for another ultrasound in 2 weeks. I'm curious as to where women have given birth in NYC before or where you are planning to give birth. As of right now we are looking at Mt. Sinai West (Roosevelt) because of the doctor I selected, but I wanted to try and get into Columbia Presbyterian because it's #1 and closer to my apartment. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

My doctor is also associated with Mt Sinai West and so far I've had a good experience with both her in the office and at the fetal evaluation unit at the hospital. Because I work for Mt Sinai, my insurance limits me to where I can go (have to stay in in the BI/SLR system) so I didn't really look much into other places. I've read both good and bad things about pretty much every major hospital though.  Good Luck!

  • I'll be delivering at New York Presebyterian/Weill Cornell since my doctors are all associated and we live on the East Side. My sister had all four of her babies there and she had great experiences. Like PP said I'm sure Mt. Sinai is a great hospital too, but if you're concerned with the hospital being close to your apt (that was a big thing on our list) then switch your doctor now. Weill Cornell has many doctors to choose from. Good luck!
  • Im in Queens and I'll be at LIJ Manhasset. It's on long island but about 30 mins away but I've heard great things. Plus a family member was a resident doc there and couldn't speak more highly of the staff.

  • I'm delivering at what use to be St. Lukes and is now Mt. Sinai. The nurses were great last time and I love my doc. They also have a birthing center several of my friends love, but I have chroans so they prefer me to be in normal L&D.
