***BiWeekly Appointment Thread 1/18-2/1***

How far along are you?

How did your appointment go overall?

Any ultrasound or doppler? New tests? (Glucose tests, bloodwork, level 2 ultrasounds)

Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had? Was there anything you wanted to bring up but forgot?

Has your provider brought up anything about labor or delivery yet?

  • How far along are you? 24 weeks, 2 days

How did your appointment go overall? It went well!

Any ultrasound or doppler? New tests? (Glucose tests, bloodwork, level 2 ultrasounds) I had my glucose test this morning, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.  Fingers crossed I passed!

Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had? Was there anything you wanted to bring up but forgot? Yes, I brought up to my doctor my pubic pain that continues to get worse.  Basically, I can take tylenol and rest  :/

Has your provider brought up anything about labor or delivery yet? Not yet, but the next time I go is the start of appointments every two weeks!

How did your appointment go overall? It went well. Blood pressure was good and weight gain was good even though I wish it was less. 5pbs gained since my last check-up and 11lbs overall.

Any ultrasound or doppler? New tests? Doppler, 150bpm, she's head down at the moment. I'll have my glucose test at my next check-up in 4 weeks. She would like me to get my TDAP shot at some point.

Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had? I told her about my overall uncomfortableness and she suggested one of those maternity belt things. I also addressed my weight gain concern since I'm overweight. At this point she isn't concerned with my weight, but gave me a few diet & exercise tips.

Has your provider brought up anything about labor or delivery yet? No, not yet, but she did give me the hospital registration forms to fill out!

Any ultrasound or doppler? New tests? Ultrasound- the placenta is not longer low lying! What a relief! Glucose test at my next appointment-eek!

Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had? Asked about weight gain, doctor says I am right on track. I have not weighed myself since I got pregnant I have just been trying to make healthy choices and have continued to exercise.

Has your provider brought up anything about labor or delivery yet? Not since my first appointment. My doctor does not deliver but she did give me the registration forms for the hospital.

How did your appointment go overall? Best appointment yet. We had written down a bunch of questions and the doctor patiently answered everything.

Any ultrasound or doppler? New tests? (Glucose tests, bloodwork, level 2 ultrasounds) U/S to check on some things they weren't certain about at the 20W A/S. In particular they wanted to see his stomach full of fluid, which it was. We were told the baby is 1 lb, 12 oz. I'm curious how this compares to other babies at 24 weeks.

Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had? Was there anything you wanted to bring up but forgot? We had a lot of concerns and got a good amount of one-on-one time with the doc. Biggest one was the process for deciding to go for a c/s. The doctor told us he uses the Friedman Curve as a model for helping him decide when to go to c/s, which, after googling, has its detractors and supporters. Still, it was nice that he treated us like adults and explained his methodology for making these choices. We're going to do some more research on what he said and make a decision about staying with our practice or moving to a midwifery that friends have used and has a lower c/s rate.

Has your provider brought up anything about labor or delivery yet? Not really--other than talking us through the process for deciding on c/s.

Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had? Was there anything you wanted to bring up but forgot?  I had some weird gas pains the other night so I talked to her about that.

Has your provider brought up anything about labor or delivery yet? Not this time, but last time they
asked if I was planning on having an epidural.

How did your appointment go overall? Ok. I was able to take my glucose test instead of having to return next week. I drank the drink upon check in. Had my appt and 5 mins before I was to get my blood drawn, I projectile vomited all over my legs. Luckily my dr said I can still do the bloodwork since the hour was almost up. Fingers crossed I don't have to do it again.

Any ultrasound or doppler? New tests? (Glucose tests, bloodwork, level 2 ultrasounds) glucose test as mentioned above, doppler

Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had? Was there anything you wanted to bring up but forgot? We didn't discuss much as I threw up and was on a time crunch to get to the lab. I mostly wanted to know when we can schedule my c section.

Has your provider brought up anything about labor or delivery yet? We briefly discussed scheduling my c section. She said it'd be the Monday after I hit 39 weeks which would be May 2nd. But then she measured me and I'm measuring 3 weeks ahead. She said this baby is NOT small. Then I believe she mentioned I could go earlier if I wanted. But I'm not 100% sure since I threw up somewhere in the middle of that conversation. Then I started thinking about what if this kid comes on her own. I just imagined I'd have a scheduled c section and walk into the hospital. It never dawned on me that she could come earlier than that date.

How did your appointment go overall? Great, one of the best so far!! My weight gain was right on target and everything is going well.

Any ultrasound or doppler? New tests? Glucose test! As I mentioned in the UO thread, I liked the drink. My H came with me to keep me company during the 1 hour wait and it was easy peasy. During our visit with the OB she surprised us with a quick US. We were listening to the heartbeat with the doppler and she just said, "Should we take a look? The machine is right outside in the hallway, let's see her!" We watched the LO hiccup, try to suck her thumb, kick a bunch and she looked perfect. OB commented that she's got a beautifully straight nasal bone, whatever that means!

Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had? Was there anything you wanted to bring up but forgot? Has your provider brought up anything about labor or delivery yet? We talked about it a little today. OB told me she will never go for a c-section based on size, she will always give the chance to deliver vaginally which made me very happy. I was a little worried about this since my LO was labeled BIG at our anatomy scan and I'd like the opportunity to push if we're both healthy when the time comes. She didn't mention her size again which I also appreciated considering it's just an estimate, but said we'll check on it at 38 weeks via ultrasound to see what we might be up against. I should have the results of my glucose test on Saturday, fingers crossed I passed!
